I fully agree with you on the matter of unit portraits. I vividly remember the disappointment, I felt, when I promoted Donnel and he still looked like a villager with a stupid pot on his head in his portrait. It felt so jarring having this super soldier look like a total rookie. They could at least make new portraits for the promotions of the units' base class.
I think the only character who gets a new portrait once they promote is Ike in PoR, and it’s unfortunate because his promotion color scheme is literal garbage. I’m kidding, but I do wish that maybe at least the lords change to match their promotions, even if that means I’d have to stare at even worse designs than puke green Ike.
@@hollowfox213 Michaia also changes, but I too think there should be an unpromoted and promoted portrait(kind of like FeTH time skip). I don't demand class specific portraits for every single unit and potential class, but a difference in tiers would be nice.
@@lucky_crit The reason why there are so many Fire Emblem characters in Smash is because it's like Pokemon in that every single Character is playable, Which means there's a lot to work with. Unlike Zelda where you only play as Link, Zelda and that it. Also Nintendo love their Japanese fans, and Japan loves RPG's so much.
I see the dad dying trope as somewhat of a tradition now haha. But I’d be fine for another dad to live aside from Eliwood. (I believe he’s the only living FE dad?) Well, I think there is Claude’s unseen father too actually.
@@pokedude720 we kill them though. unless you mean the father of Odin, Ingo and Severa in which case fair enough (though correct me if I'm wrong but they also died in their timelines)
"Serenes Forest is often burning" a witty reference that is also a very accurate description of the forum (especially fan translation threads dear god)
This one is hard to disagree with the points, so the ones I agree the hardest are the maps and the balance. Even with everything fates is guilty of, conquest had me looking at the map every turn and thinking carefully on every move I did, wish they had more than map design and mechanics, that defense at the port is still one of my favorite maps of franchise.
Conquest Chapter 10 is one of the best levels Intelligent Systems has ever created. I have to admit, after playing Conquest, Birthright and Revelation were such a letdown.
9:42 There's also the "already dead" trope, and it so happened both are named Monica... Someone joked about a Monica dumping one IS staff per iteration, but I fear it may be truth.
I haven't peeked much in those, specifically, but I feel like the general consensus of odyssey and botw were overtly positive and fans were happy. Haven't seen Mario or Loz drama in my feed
I think for armor knights, it really should come down to map design. They need to start putting more maps where deployment spots are planted right by a chokepoint with a nest of enemies, particularly some fast ones like swordmasters, thieves, and archers that are good matchups for armors. They could have built in obstruct, or depending on a game, if something akin to 3h battlions are involved, they can summon extra units to help block off said chokepoints or give them bonuses on fortress tiles. On other maps they can also be used to guard important spots, like rooms with green units, or friendly ballistas.
I mean, they shouldn't be balanced around maps that give them a designated spot. The way gaiden/echoes handles armor knights is in my opinion, their best form yet, just give them normal foot soldier movement instead of a spot behind
Strong agree on maps and enemies. I remember seeing a video that talked about even simple changes like time of day, what side you attack a map from, etc could make battles more interesting and replaying the game more interesting. For me, I love options, so I'd really be in favour of this change plus being able to make more decisions that impact the story. TH's came close with this but I think it can go further and I can't wait to see the direction of the new game when they finally announce it.
idk I think I'm more fatigued on "Monster" fights tbh. I think if anything FE2 has the problem of giving you too much of them. FE8 is a different case although the whole grind for exp is already a hit or miss in the community. I mean imo I hate how FE10 had a lot of unique changes like Biorhythm, Leadership returning, and the whole Map elements effect where certain units get bonuses were pretty unique on top of the Laguz. But then after it got so save and regressed hard on mechanics and ideas ngl besides making Self insert avatars. I think "Too many Smash Characters are fire Emblem is not the case" I think there are too many Awakening Reps and two of them are echoes...also Corrin. Just saying ditch those three and add someone like Hector, Ephraim, or Micaiah tbh. No, I think Lyn would be too samey of a figher with the whole sword thing. Stop
The prequel dlc chapters in Echoes would have been great as hidden memory prisms. Hard to find. When you go to view it, it notifies you that you will be put into a battle map. Imagine finding that without knowing it existed.
@@lucky_crit hmm yea that's true. Although maybe not too much since you access memory prisms in a menu that takes away from the action anyway. Isn't it the same place you access DLC stuff?
Your number one literally happened with me a few days ago saying Annie being a rallybot (or having a rallybot in general in Three Houses) isn't something I agree with... *On a League of Legends server.*
I'd only use Annie as a rallybot (or any rallybot for that matter) if I were making an enemy turn Ferdinand/Ingrid/Dimitri/Bernedetta/Shamir build (those characters specifically because of great enemy turn potential in all of them)
16:40 My answer is simple. If the community itself sucks, then I just find the small parts I like to be apart of. I've been in 3 communities where everyone was toxic. Mortal Kombat, Fire Emblem, and Fortnite. In some cases like Fortnite I just don't interact with the community period. I like and play the game and that's it. Other than that I do want to try to find the small areas go interact with but if I can't, then I keep it to myself. People want to be toxic then *-Sound effect-* them. They will not hinder my enjoyment of the games I like to play. Also hey, good go see you again Stevie.
I definitely agreed with the map design thing and the fan base. So many maps are very basic in design. One of the games I actually like how much they changed the map design was in FE Fates. The maps felt alive with added effects and gimmicks to strategize around. I really enjoyed playing them... But turn around and find out that apparently the fanbase thinks it has the worst design in the series. It's like they don't want more variety in maps and want basic maps. Then if I say anything on it the toxic fanbase goes crazy and really makes me not want to talk about Fire Emblem.
"Overpriced DLC"... hard yes. Inflation came early for Nintendo. 😅 I love SoV forever, but yeah they messed up there. Not even the fault of the game, just greed.
If you would also count for FEW, a $20 season pass that only gives you a few more characters and a few more maps at history maps, and NO new maps from story mode is really disappointing. Compare to HW dlc, they had at least a better content wise for story mode and more characters.
I couldn't agree more on number 1, this fandom really isn't afraid to show it's fangs and claws to anyone that says or does something they disagree with and that's frankly sad.
Honestly the best Dlc from any game I’ve played, was Fates Amiibo support, yeah it’s like $15 each for 2 weapons, 2 accessories, temporary new dialogue and map, 1 new playable character, and a way to try out some of the dlc classes to see if I wanted to buy them, BUT the reason why I loved it so much was that I could also use them in smash bros, adding more value to the Amiibo’s, I’m not sure what it says when my favorite dlc is the added value to the dlc and not the game itself, but I can’t help but think how golden that was and if given some more care (personal skills, secondary class tree, supports with a few ppl, Roy, etc) it would’ve been perfect really, and I always keep that model in mind when encountering dlc
Definitely agreeing with the #1 and that's why it's turned me off actually voting in events with FEH (CYL is the main reason) But honestly I've found some great groups/individuals with FEH so I'm keeping playing 😅
Roy is the only lord that his father lived through the duration of the game Not other protagonists have their fathers live till the end Even Roy's father eliwood his father died midway through the game But most does have siblings Though alm celica roy and three houses protagonists doesn't have siblings Sigurd might be the only protagonist who have a cousin
Speaking of DLC, I'm still heartbroken over the fact that not all of Fates' DLC was localized. It enraged me that SoV's DLC was fully announced as a season pass at a time when not all of Fates' DLC had come out in the west, and unfortunately now never will. Fates is my favorite FE game and it deserved better. I also DO have a criticism regarding FE representation in Smash. It's not about overrepresentation, because as a FE fan myself I love seeing the amount of representation it has. It has to do with the characters' movesets, in that half of them (Marth, Roy, Lucina, Chrom) are very similar. I believe that if every FE fighter had a completely different moveset, Smash players wouldn't hate FE so much. Ultimately (no pun intended), though, I'm happy that Everyone Is Here in Ultimate.
Fire Emblem really isn't overrepresented when you consider in an objective light, it just takes more to represent. The main reason people see it as overrepresented and it gets bashed all the time is because of the reason you mentioned, 4 characters that are essentially clones of each other
Loved the video and the little jokes here and there. I once heard from someone that knowing the continent Fates takes place on wouldn't have been that important, and so not much is lost with us not knowing it. I can see why someone would think this, and maybe I'd buy it, but the reason people usually bring it up is not just cause it's such a criminal offense. The fact that they didn't even name drop it once, even in a random throwaway line, is so indicative of the entire sloppiness pie that is Fates' story and world that it acts as a really great way to summarize Fates' biggest issues. Some narrative... and some Rev gameplay-wise. It's so mismatched that they didn't, or maybe even forgot, to name the continent. In a continent-spanning war story I'd say that's such an important part of the world and yet forgot something so important. Kind of makes it believable how messy Fates' development was, how it all turned out, and how utterly un-playtested Rev's maps feel. This turned into a much longer rant than I expected... Just know there's a reason why so many people shot jokes at Fates' expense when like, the second or third trailer for Three Houses revealed the name of the continent. Many jokes were had, trust me.
I think if the story was better, yeah we could have lived without knowing the continent name. But the fact that we know the name of EVERY other major continent across the series (so this is a weird outlier) AND the story wasn't great in Fates just makes it sting all that much worse.
@@qazentro4444 the Reason for fate's sloppy story, is because the writers where trying to achieve too much with not enough time. Intelligents Systems had an idea for Fate to have three stories to appeal to everyone, but they realized that they didn't have enough writers. So they hired an outside writer, Shin Kibayashi was that writer. Nintendo wanted Shin to write the outline for each pathway, what happened instead is that Shin wrote 500 pages for each pathway. Nintendo knew this was too long so they cut the story into pieces without the writers permission and the fact the Nintendo demanded Fates come on the Fire Emblem Anniversary only made things worse. Which resulted in this hilariously mess of a story. The good news this that there is a manga based on Fates that is a little better. Its called Fire Emblem If: the Crown of Niberlung.
@@orangeslash1667 Yeah I'm aware of the developmental troubles and so on, and I've also heard that that manga isn't half bad either. At least Fates'... Conquest's map design is pretty alright.
I 100% agree with the balance especially for the armored units and i have a few way to fix those (and also tweeking some other units) : 1) make them immune to terrain movement penalty. That would make them able to catch up with your army 2) make them stronger and less vulnerable to magic. Since they are supposed to be those humongus tanks that dish out a lot of damage make them just that 3) and this one isn't related to the armored units but the mounted units especially the fliers, make them weaker/more vulnerable. The only real danger that you have when you're using a flier are bows... and even that is something you often laugh at in mid to late game due to how high their dodge can be... 4) All of the above.
Honestly, I'm with you with most of these, save for #3. Like FE is going to remain tropey as-can-be. There's a reason Japan can't stop suckling at the Archanean teat, they love them some basic-butt tropes something fierce. Hell, 3H probably isn't any less tropey, cliché-laden than the rest of the entries that constitute the series, even if the titanic-sized amount of writing might camouflage it otherwise; it's basically watered-down Romance of the Three Kingdoms, mixed with Legend of the Galactic Heroes, drizzled in a Jugdral-flavored seasoning. Yes, I might have written this comment while hungry, but yeah, being tropey comes with the territory. Sorry, brah.
@@lucky_critI'm certain some merchants might be interested in getting that for you; after all, if the fat cats in Valentia could pay top-coin for some quality Pegasus Cheese, someone might be willing to sell you an Archanean Sacred Cow.
Yeah, I don’t think Fire Emblem will ever get rid of all of its archetypes and tropes. The shadowy cabal, the dragon/demon/god they’re trying to resurrect, the belligerent empire invading the peaceful kingdom… I think every FE game will have at least half of those tropes played straight, and maybe another quarter of them subverted or otherwise played with.
I'm gonna be honest, as much as recogize the common tropes that exist in Fire Emblem games, there are certain ones where I wonder if I'd even like the game more if they didn't use the trope. There's nothing inherently wrong with a trope if the story is still enjoyable, if I were to look for everything to be groundbreakingly, never before seen, original, I wouldn't watch, read, or play anything whatsoever
This last half is mostly valid. The dlc one though is less the pricing, since you already mentioned they learned their lesson there, and more the mileage we get or "our bang for our buck" from the dlc. The fandom complaint can be applied anywhere really. The difference of Fire Emblem to something like Pokemon would be there is a more specific idea of what is wanted by the FE fandom due to the nature of the games (as in its mostly battle-centric due to being a tactical rpg and not much else save for 3 Houses). For Pokemon, the scope is much wider (a collect-a-thon, creature battling game that also tries to be a whole lot of other things) and so the fandom is more dispersed and doesn't really know what it wants because each type of player doesn't really dabble in the other sections of the game too much (not everyone bothers with the in-depth and more-complex-than-you-think competitive side, not everyone builds their relationship with their pokemon, not everyone bothers with actually catching every single pokemon, etc.).
Persona and Shin Megami Tensei fandoms are wild well used to be. Recently it is starting to blend and live in harmony again but gets picked up here and there with toxic fans either shitting the other fandom or within their selves. Like Persona fans of 5 have said P3 is old and unplayable like 1 & 2. The Reddit as well as toxic and just waifu stuff. I have seen so much lol Overall I agree with your picks. I have the same problems here and there. I want unit portraits updated or at least when class change keep their identity or color.
There are writing issues, but complaining that the story uses tropes is like complaining a meal has ingredients. The problem is not that they use tropes, the problem is their selection and use of them.
So, i've pretty much agreed with the entirety of both videos. The last point definitely stuck out. I'm sure to no one's surprise, but yeah, this fandom has, at one point, been the absolute worst I've ever interacted with. A lot of obnoxious elitism coming from all corners, and absolutist statements splitting unnecessary wedges. Hell, as an old fan of the series who's favorite games are Awakening and Fates, I felt like a 1 in a million freak case at times lol... .... however.. I do have to say, while it's not been fully remedied by any means, the community has gotten *significantly better* in recent times. I basically bailed from the community for a good 3 years or so, but coming back in semi recent times, it is waaaay less toxic. You can actually have meaningful discussions, even if there is a lot of divisiveness.
Yeah, as a person who has done FE for a little bit and has a rather "carefree" attitude. I find that when people tell me a unit is bad or a unit is unpopular it sometimes makes me almost want to use em more. Take how quite a bit of the "elitists" were with Amelia, yet for me she is probably one of my favorite units in Sacred Stones. Even if she is tough to train at first, if she gets going she can sometimes become hilariously powerful (which is to my experience what Amelia tends to be) Overall FE is all about experience and choices, and when some people bash others for their own choices or preferences it just causes discord to run amok in the fanbase.
@@astralguardian5930 yeah, that whole overly harsh criticism about which units you "should" or "shouldnt" use is like.. dumb. Really dumb. Like yeah, okay, there's a rough tier list, but FE is a non competitive, casual game. You can beat pretty much any challenge with any character, so what the hell does it matter? You'd better believe I'm picking that cool blue haired theif, and I'm gonna like it. Funny too because in the pkmn community (a sort of close proxy as theyre both Nintendo games where theres a multitude of selectable characters for strategic combat), where there IS a competitive scene, you dont see that pompous attitude towards who uses what. It's such a strange little phenomenon of the FE community.
@@Legendary0Hero That's because nearly every Pokemon game is piss easy while Fire Emblem has never once been easy. Even Sacred Stones gets tough at points if you don't grind especially on hard. The game is only "easy" because of Seth being so insanely OP. Pokemon allows you to use any mon you want in the main story because the games are never challenging, (though some are harder than others like HGSS and Platinum) but in Fire Emblem it's an active struggle to even beat a single game, (except for three houses which is much easier and beginner friendly) especially with the older games. (and Awakening + Fates Conquest) The only time you have to think in a Pokemon game and not just spam super effective to kill everything is in VERY rare senarios in the main story (BDSP Elite Four without grinding, certain gym leaders in HGSS, Ghetsis in BW1, Blue in RBY, early game Platinum, etc) and in competitive matches online where in FE you HAVE to use the best units especially in the older games or you'll get stuck and have to reset your save.
@@krimsonkatt I've played almost every FE game in the series, and I've yet to run across any where you couldn't get by, with ease, with any unit. I agree that Pokemon is easier, but youre overstating FEs difficulty.. I honestly wouldn't describe any as hard outside of the higher end game modes like Lunatic+/Maddening/etc.. You absolutely do not HAVE to use the best units in your average FE game. The difficulty isn't really that big of a deal, much less hard enough to berate others over their personal choice.
@@Legendary0Hero I've tried nearly FE game and had to quit most of them because they just got too hard and/or boring and I kept having to reset so I wouldn't lose my favorite units. The only ones I've beaten are Fates Birthright, (I was my first FE game and I sucked at it for a long time, but I beat it on my 3rd or 4th playthrough finally) Awakening, (barelly, almost quit like 5 or so times and I was playing on normal. Earlygame and endgame Awakening is brutal and requires grinding) Echoes, (easy game outside of thabes, played on normal. Still haven't beat thabes even with grinding DLC) and 2/4 routes of three houses. (could beat the other two easily and I've already gotten to the end of golden deer right before the final battle, only haven't due to laziness and how boring and tedious the monastery gets on later playthroughs) Tried Shadow Dragon but got bored after 3 or 4 chapters, played FE7 after my first botched run of Fates Birthright (Kaze died due to me not getting A support and I got depressed and quit) and after beating Lyn mode took a break but lost my save. I tried multiple other attempts at the game and the farthest I got was the chapter where you get Ninian, but always lost my save one way or another forcing me to do Lyn mode again and again. I played FE8 multiple times and ended up getting to the chapter where you get Innes and his retainers in Erika's route before quitting, though I could definitely beat it if I tried. Never played FE9 and FE10 since the games are super expensive and my computer can't emulate gamecube/Wii, and never played FE12 either because I never figured out how to emulate DS and I can't find the translated ROM. Haven't played FE4 or FE5 because I'm waiting on a remake, and I'm not playing FE6 until I've beaten FE7 so yeah. Most FE games, especially the older ones are just too hard for me, and this is coming from someone who 100%ed Hollow Knight. If you make one mistake you have to restart the hours long map and it's infuriating unless you use save states which I often forget to for chapters and then when I reload after losing someone important like Florina or Pricilla I'm suddenly back 4 chapters earlier and then I ragequit.
it's unfortunate that magic can be so limited, specifically looking at 3 houses. You can build a team however you want but only use spells in a mage, base, or very specific class. Even Edelgard's unique armour emperor class couldn't use magic despite her budding talent. Would have been interesting if units could use magic but non mage classes having a heavy penalty or something
I think a way to make armor knights more useful in mainline games might be to somehow implement the near save skills from Heroes. It would go a long way in solving their mobility issues while helping to protect them from mages and giving them a perk no other class in the series has. It would even have an aspect of risk/reward to it as, depending on the way you position units, they could end up having to fight far more enemies on any given turn then they want. Is this a balanced solution? absolutely not, it would either be completely broken or literally unusable depending on the difficulty of the enemies, but it would make them more interesting, at the very least
Many tropes are necessary for time constraints and budget reasons. when using large casts like this, they kind of have to "draw from the hat" some of the personalities, ect. This why you often see 3 or 4 very interesting "unique" character bios, and a bunch of supporting trope characters. The dying dad thing, on the other hand, might be repeatedly done as sort of an in game meme.
My favorite thing about 3H is how it could have been a story between Edelgard and Dimitri differences with Rhea being the big bad but for some reason Byleth and Claude exist.
You're probably right, but that provides more of a true hatred context, and I just can't hate it that much lol! I may experiment with the title, though. We'll see
Yea, the only time I felt like armoured knights were decent was in fates, and that's basically only because wary fighter was such a useful skill to have on the class
I think FE10 it was nice you could use the target option or have some control over them plus they would go before the enemy units so they tend to be able to actually hit something before dying there and did have healers with physics staffs. Like in general partner units > Other Units anyday.
In terms of #1, nah, Pokemon is WAY more toxic than Fire Emblem, at least currently. The Fire Emblem community was really bad and toxic back in the Fates/Awakening days, but since Three Houses and to a lesser extent Echoes released the fandom has actually been one of the better ones relative to its size along with Zelda and (kinda) Mario. The Pokemon fanbase since 2017 or so has been a toxic wasteland and just keeps getting worse and worse after every new release. At this rate the Pokemon fanbase is worse than WoW and League of Legends fanbases combined (though WoW is pretty much completely dead and LoL is only popular on mobile with Wild Rift) and the only fanbases that are worse are Steven Universe (directly caused two IRL deaths) and whatever the cringe 0IQ TikTok kids are into at the moment. (currently it's Danganronpa, MHA, and Minecraft, but previously it included FNAF, FNF, Killing Stalking, Among Us, Fortnite, Sonic, and various others) The current Pokemon fanbase is one of the worst ever. Fire Emblem isn't even close. Let's just wait until there's a terrorist attack on Nintendo/GF like what happened to Ko-Ani (makers of Dragon Maid and K-On) due to the Pokemon fanbase and then we can finally rate the Pokemon fanbase as the worst fanbase of all time worse than even Steven Universe at its peak.
Okay… last time I said that number 1 will be Fire Emblem the Franchise. And I’m wrong… but also close… this time I have no clue because I’m watching this muted while waiting for my professor to get in class… Anyway the new number 1 guess is Fire Emblem the Fandom.
@@lucky_crit I think you gave to much praise to Echoes when it comes to enemy variety dude, because once you pick apart the game, you realize that Echoes has, hands down the absolute worst enemy variety in the series, seriously, most of the fights are just a bundle of all the same enemy type. for example, the chapters were Celica goes out to the desert, when you take down the outpost, its pretty close to all archers, when you fight either Sonya or Deen, either all mercenaries, or all witches, and there are several chapters were its all cavalry. There are many scenes with nothing but the same enemy types, very few have any proper enemy variety, heck even a few boss fights suffer this issue, and Echoes even has hardly any challenges, the majority of the maps is either kill the boss, or route the enemy, very few actually have goals. Sure a few DLC chapters do, but that does not count, since its DLC. Also another critique is that while yes its a trope for the characters parents to end up dead in some way, not all are bad, for example Grail's death actually has an impact on the story, and Jarelt's death does as well, as that event is what leads to Byleth's emotions truly begin to develop, but not enough to begin to put Byleth in any character category, as its just enough to show some development, but still at a level small enough for the players to make the choice on what kind of person Byleth is, like how it was intended. Also its a little unfair that you showed NPC allies from three houses when you talked about how bad the NPC allies are in fire emblem, because in truth, a lot of the allies in three houses are actually a lot better then the ones in past games (yeah I am looking at you villagers in FE: Awakening)
I definitely agree with the fanbase part, and the story one - especially the story one. I’m of the belief that with JRPGs, the story has to be good enough to make up for what I find can be very repetitive gameplay. I feel like I’m crazy but the newer games just don’t do it for me in either story or gameplay. Oh and there also are way too many FE characters in smash :P
idk only fe games stories that I felt were good were Marh's until a certain point (tbf it was a pioneer/first game) FE4/5, FE6, FE8 and FE9...kind of 10 but 10 has a lot problems on it being rushed in two years.
I forget already if map design was in part 1 or part 2, but I just have flashbacks to playing through the different routes and thinking to myself that it all plays out way too closely with each other. Each story has it's variations, true, but there's so much that is copied that I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Fates had identical chapters for its routes too, but somehow it didn't bother me nearly as much as playing Three Houses.
The reason why Fates probably didn’t bother you as much is because those maps were often used only once or twice in other routes, at different points in the story and usually with new objectives or mechanics to compensate. Not only this, but since the three routes all had completely varied difficulty curves, it made each revisit of the same map still feel fresh and unique in its own way. Three Houses pretty much throws the same maps at you around the same exact time, with similar or the same units and the exact same objective. Even if post-time skip maps we’re all completely new and unique for each path, you still have to play through the exact same 10 to 12 chapters on every route. At least Fates only gave you 4 or 5 chapters that were exactly the same, and let you skip right to the path split if you wanted.
The only things really I disagree with are #3 and 1. Tropes are tools and are basically inescapable. Generally speaking, a lot of what makes any story good is how it uses it’s tropes. That said, yeah some are a little too reoccurring. I’ve been a part of other fandoms before and FE feels rather average. It’s not perfect but it’s not terrible either.
I guess I just feel like it would be so much more interesting if the writers were more self aware and threw in trope bait, like "Oh no, is Jeralt going to die?" and then subverted those expectations. That isn't to say that subverting is ALWAYS the way to go, but stuff like early Game of Thrones really showcased GRRM's brilliant writing and kept the viewer super engaged and guessing at what would happen next. That's way better than, "Ok, this is my dad, Jeralt. Yeah, I'm sure he's gonna die. Let's not get very attached." Jeralt could have easily lived, had a story-based reason as to why he wasn't a legendary fighter anymore, and then I think a lot of folks would have been genuinely surprised and happy about it.
@@lucky_crit For me, the issue is less "they've done it before/too often" and more "there's a more interesting option" when it comes to Jeralt's death, also that it didn't serve much of a purpose. Imagine is he's alive on Silver Snow and he becomes one of the dragons you end up fighting due to what happens with Rhea. I'm not trying to say that some aren't overused, but that the how and why are important.
I definitely agree with your #1. I play the games pretty casually and it was pretty annoying to have someone be like "Well aCtUaLLy she's better as a cleric!" kind of thing. It's pretty true that the fandom is very divided and I hope it can just get better in the future. The games still bring together big communities though.
i'll say this tho, hopefully now that they're working in a 3D engine it'll make it easier for them to port existing animations from older games and to create new ones. would be cool to see them implement this for variety on the points you gave. also they could probably do this for other things to cut down on certain things and expand on others. i'm honestly surprised they only had 1 dlc for FE :TH. IMO, it'd be better if your self insert character is a "villager type" and not integral to the story(it'd already be fantasy as you'd be not trained in their world but you'd have the biggest growth potential out of any character), BUT the thing is... most lords/MC's outside of three houses always use swords. I hope that becomes less the norm in the future. Would really like a Tengen(Demon Slayer) ninja, battle cleric, or battle magician MC lord. Hell even an expansion on brawler would be DOPE!
I would like a Mark style avatar (non-playable) that I still get to customize and use in the inbetween map thing (like if you appeared like Soren at the end of each chapter to give reports and had conversations in camp like fe12 Kris and Ike did). That way you get an avatar to represent you in the world, but non-intrusive and doesn't destroy the story like Corrin did and make it just constant mary sue pandering
I got into fire emblem because it unites my favorite genres. Strategy, Fantasy, Medival setting, Romance and (If you can even call it that) dating sim. The wide array of character designs almost guarantees I will find a character I love. Camilla and Ninja lady in Fates, Petra, Rhea and Lysithea (the better Edelgard) in 3H. I am looking forward to what the next game has to offer.
It’s a little funny because I literally just went through the player cards on my Fire Emblem Heroes friends list for the first time and noticed just how many different people I’m friends with people who have 180 arena crowns but I’ve not played summer duels, people who have plus tens of the most meta-units but have hundreds less characters collected than me or people who’s summoner duel unit is absurd but clearly their favorite. This fandom rules imo. Fire emblem is complicated and it’s been my absolute favorite game since childhood I will never not love these games and by extent the community.
Agree with your point on the story concept of Fire Emblem, as neat as a concept it is, like map objectives its trends can occasionally be repetitive like too many Main Character's Parents deaths like Cornelius Elbert Fado Greil Mikoto and Jeralt, a close friend or close family member of a playable/ally character (not necessarily the Main Character/Lord) on the enemy's side like Camus, Eldigan, and Xander (Fates Birthright) though never showing resentment. I mean they tend to fit in with the plot but sometimes poor execution of the trend
i have to defend it the part on the dads, it kinda highlights the parts of war but i think they need to to make him (characters dad the jeigin) and have him accompany you through the tutorial like a lyn mode and then the real game begins and things have to go more of a Rudolf and alm to complete for a reason. but it has to be done perfectly to be a better version of jill and her father that has more weight behind it
Totally agree with the list, specially #3. And even when I also liked 3H's story split, the execussion leaves a lot to be desired. It's clear to me now that the budget they had for each route greatly affects the true potential 3H had at a good story, and now it feels like 4 soft diluted and vague stories instead of a solid one. Jeralt's death felt like a déjà vu of Greil's death, but at least Greil's had impact and purpose in the story telling. Byleth having no real dialogue makes this moment void of intention and lacks the power for the viewer to feel attached to any of these characters.
yeah the dead Dad Trope or Parent or Fatherlike trope gets old really fast. Oh and Three houses I love it and all but also the Avatar being the main focus. Timeskip was great about it being about three lords mainly but Gronder field your character being animated into the cutscene took away how all three of them felt. Especially Claude and Edelgard. The shadowy organization being behind it all gets old too. I was like When is the game going to finally finish? But Three houses was my very first Fire Emblem I ever played. I mainly play for like the Story. And The Allied Units being crappy! On The Map with Felix is on I had my fliers take out the boss really quickly because I knew the Allied units would be dumb! And Rodrigue never did help matters.
Oof…the Yu-Gi-Oh length descriptions in FEH…that hit home. I dropped FEH due to my over-eager-orb-finger, but I do recall losing my shit over descriptors bordering on “if unit made two left turns and it’s the third Sunday of the month increase range by”…😵🤯😵
For echo I won't lie I forgot there where grind map :D I totally forgot I tought you where talking about the DLC for the bonus chapter with clive and stuff. (I tought it was pretty good tho yah a bit short may be)
13:32 Pokemon and Mario Bros have just as many if not more characters, the hate comes from the fact most of the FE characters have a very similar playstyle
Yeah, touche. I was thrilled about the variety of the lords' weapons in 3H, and I understand why they decided to combine them into Byleth, but I definitely understand why that's dissapointing to see another "sword user" whereas it could have been Edelgard with her axe
FE6 and 7 ranked runs are my jam, and very few other people’s jam AFAIK. I’d love to discuss the best way to get as many tactician stars in HHM as possible, but with whom? So I get what you’re saying about community toxicity. My guess is that there is more variety between the FE games than, say, between the Pokémon games; and that leads to more heated debates about which games are better in which ways. Maybe the Smash Bros community has similar problems for similar reasons, although none of the Smash Bros games seem as different from each other as… say, Blazing Blade and Three Houses. Oh, and I absolutely agree about fathers of Lords, and how cliche it is that they keep dying. It’s all well and good that we have Eliwood surviving FE6, but why is he the only one?
For the dad dieing I think they could have done it better if you actually could recruite him before he die really early and they pull a Aerith on you would have been much more surpriseing since pretty much no Fire emblem game give you a unite to play with and kill it after for real (I think any way may be there 1 or 2 game that does it) but in general if you recruite them they are safe form dieing for plot. So just makeing him not a Green unite would have done alot for the story itself.
In no order: 10: Avatars. Mark is okay, because he's only there for funny memes at the end. The rest ruin their respective stories, and would be better with an actual character in their place. The best avatar in recent memory is Byleth... because they're halfway to just being a real character. Just a bad one, because they're still half avatar. 9: Myrmidons. Assmidons, more like. Worst, worst class, holy shit. Rutger is the exception that proves the rule. He is what you need for a Myrmidon to be good. I hate myrmidons. I have mild distaste for people that like myrmidons. 8: Casts full of hot singles in your area. I miss Pent and Louise. I miss characters with kids. I miss old dudes and grannies. I miss characters with stories and character development that happened long ago, without your avatar's permission. I miss characters like Garcia, Moulder, Hawkeye... I could go on. 7: Models. It's almost like everyone's concerns about models over the last decade and a half were 100% correct, and no game besides maybe Zelda has made 3D look as good as the series did in 2D. Good 3D is hard. 6: Joke Permadeath. When was the last time you heard about someone playing the game and rolling with the deaths, and not calling it a challenge run? I came to this series to gamble with the lives of children because my cause was just, not secure happy endings for everyone. 5: Dragon lolis. I like dragons. I even like dragons that are also little girls. I don't like little girls that can turn into dragons to explain why they wear no clothes. Myrrh was pretty cool. You know who was cool as shit? Bantu. Bantu was a cool dude. 4: Front loaded difficulty. You know that thing where the first hour of a game is hard as shit, but then the game disintegrates as you get more and more options? The final boss being easier than a dirty, starving bandit is unacceptable. 3: Maps. Goddamn I hate repeating maps. Breaks my immersion instantly. Fates may have been a smelly pile, but at least someone snorted a line of coke each time a new map needed to be designed. 3 Houses had me arguing with the game about where this plain actually was. 2: No mage tanks. It's a small thing. I like tanky magic units. Fire Emblem just doesn't have those. I have to make a frankenstein Armor Knight Lysithea build for my mage tank. 1: The waifus. I like female characters. I hate that this series about smashing my toys together has become about dating sims, thighs, and shipping.
I want FEH and future FE games to have more customization. I, admittedly, joined in when Fates and liked the options they gave us, but was very sad when FE3H didn’t have any customization. I enjoy rpgs a lot, but the thing that draws me in is when I have a role in the story, I’m way more interested in what’s going on.
There have been some games were armors are good. Oswin, Gatrie, Tauroneo, General Wolf and Sedgar, and Fates come to mind. Yeah Three Houses was okay for armors. Archers nowadays are in a pretty good spot right now. As for holy knights. If only it had a certain weaponfaire used by the unit the class was clearly designed for, who even gets a unique sword for crying out loud. Instead of randomly making it a light mage when there’s only 4 light spells.
Oh damn for once someone makes actual comments on something is bad and not just dumb opinions or nonsense I love fire emblem but no i can see your point and agree on most of this i just love the series anyways
I'm honestly annoyed that Fire Emblem in Great Fray Smash Brothers lack any of the costumes throughout throughout the series, and instead just relies heavily on character/costume references, and that's just lame.
I’m glad number 1 was the fandom I love these games so much but I’ve never considered myself apart of the fandom cause of some bad interactions I love the message of people play fire emblem for different reasons I hope that can hit home for some people
I know that rule real well because I can tell that easily. People will always be making their own choice for who they prefer or how they play. Yet, it is also that very thing that leads people to defend their "unit" or their playstyle, so much so that it can sometimes blind em. (Basically everyone makes their own army, and has their own preferences and experiences in FE. If you bash someone for their own actions or preferences for the reason of "It isn't how I played" then just stop...everyone is and acts different in their own way, and don't try and force them to see your side)
Story is absolutely one of the big reasons I play the games. Like going back to your favorite book. Adding to your 4th point. The invisible enemies in Fates just pissed me off. O great its the same model but now its see-thru. great...
I don’t care for the same troupe as long as it’s good. But other than that you bought you a lot of amazing points that I never consider. I love every FE game I played so far.
To the slight defense of the Fire Emblem fan base, compared to other Nintendo fan bases (explicitly the Zelda fan base) most know what they want, are generally reasonable and are willing to be critical of beloved games. Like I may not agree with veteran FE fans but they are not insufferable compared to “if it’s not a carbon clone of the original nes Zelda game and is 3D, linear, more dungeon focused it’s trash and Zelda should return to its roots” type Zelda fans that have constantly complained 2D Zelda is better and how the Zelda series went through a dark age from 1996-2012, etc. or the 8.8 fiasco or what they did to Jim Sterling when they gave Breath of the Wild a 7/10 Like FE fans will describe what their least favorite game is and how it should improved but still give credit on what they liked about it. I would take any FE fan over a zelda fan.
Dang ambush spawns only getting an honorable mention??? You ever get killed by an ambush spawn freaking dragon lord??? I forget if it's 3H or Awakening (or both) that has it, but shits terrible
I would make lots of little changes to the series. Doubling = 6 or more speed gap Chip damage from Echoes Armour units are immune to chip damage and +def/res, but -movement No child units, no time travel, no alternate dimensions Avatar = not the main character who everyone SIMPS for 24/7 No gender locking
I'm a simple FE fan, I like going back to the classics that got me into the franchise on occasion, I like Fates the best, I like the himbos and bimbos of the series, I don't like the Yugioh length effect descriptions and I like doing personal modding projects.
For the Fandom I would say it got a link with alot of things overall: strategie game attract more ppl who like to do there owen stuff afterall onlike other game your not in a team or anything your doing your owen thing. I would also say the divide is basse on the "new" games where Fate and Aweaking did fell alot different than the other games (and everything that new get some hate form older minds it right wings idea thinking old thinks is better) And in the end I would also say the age of the target audiance being a bit higher than most other Nintendo game is parth of it too. Your less likely to just growth out of it onlike other games where you can growth out of it more easylly meaning that it only new blood being put into the game ppl who didn't got old opinion about the game and so can't really dislike as much it direction it going tho I would say pokemon fan where quite mix about the last 2 or 3 game sword and shield had alot of ppl bitch about the quality of animation and stuff like no global dex etc. (but in the end the pokemon IP just get alot of new blood without any real opinion about the IP that why I think it probably less "toxic") Any way perso I like the games alot I played fate and I won't lie It was kinda bad in my opinion tho three house was a good set in the right direction in my opinion. I like the idea of like boon and banes on your character it kinda really nice in my book it a simple thing but it help make characters unique and give them personality... I also like Echoes it was really well done I think. probably in my top fav game. Also strategie game got alot of "toxic" ppl (tho I wouldn't call it "toxic") But they got alot of ppl who aren't great at talking to other ppl And Strategie games are also great to get ppl who like to "optimize" things tho that also make strong opinion on how to play the game themself. (exemple: warp "OP", Seth "OP", Amelia "Suck" etc. and will it is somewhat true it doesn't count in personal experiences and what in that other player game the stats they got. if you got a "crazy good unite" but they growth they got is literally 1 or 0 stats on all lvl vs if you got the same unite but got 3 to 5 stats on each lvl the experiences isn't the same at all... Also Amelia being bad it kinda true tho ppl like an chalenge and useing Amelia can be fun to do seeing her being bad and improveing is fun.) Any way just alot of different way to do it.
Definitely a valid list the whole way through. I always hated how the villager characters canonically stay complete novice trash even if you trained them into super soldiers. Though I don't really feel like the Pokemon diss was needed
I just feel like SWSH and BDSP were both super rushed and lazy, it's been getting worse for years now. It's not completely the devs' fault, it's The Pokémon Company as an entity
I agree WiTh EvErY LaSt OnE oF tHeM!!! Except... wait... 3H had stories? 🤔 lol you just decide which side wins. And that it. 2 options and it's not much for what would require 4 playthroughs. Claude back story could have made the whole thing a bit more interesting, but it seems like they just forgot to add it in.
Smt and Persona fans love to absolutely kill each other over why their favorite games are better than your favorite. Weird to see other fanbases doing the same
"Base game being priced at $60." Me walking into a Best Buy or Walmart to see the Base game priced at $70. As well as every other Switch game, for 2 whole years after their release.
Three Houses' pricing isn't any better than Echoes. Echoes is 40 + 45. Three Houses is 60 + 25. Same total, it's just Three Houses asks you to pay more of that cost upfront.
I mean with or without DLC the game would have been more though since 60 is the switch title price standard. I'd imagine developing the extra content cost more than it did for the 3DS (more complex models, environments, etc) so if anything I guess we are lucky it wasn't 60+45
#1 deserves its place bc GameFAQs is a cesspool. I guess I haven't seen if it's the same level of toxicity discussing other games, but the ad hominem attacks in the FE forum were terrible. I spent little time on Serenes Forest but thought it was good. It was worth mentioning that they tried too hard to escape something tropey and ended up with a ridiculously convoluted story in Fates.
I pretty much exclusively agree but there is one I'd include to my personal tastes that irk me greatly. Child soldiers. KIlls me, seems like every FE game I pick up what at least visually appears to be a child. Mozu, Ricken, Elisse, Lissa, Nino, two games of the characters literal children or any "Don't worry I'm actually a 1,000 year old dragon" and plenty of others in the long history or FE have no place on the battlefield. I almost exclusively bench these characters right off the bat. I dunno if that makes me a weird FE fan but it just doesn't feel right.
Yeah, bare minimum that would be nice
They had portrait changes in Shining Force 2. I was super excited for them when I was a kid.
I see the dad dying trope as somewhat of a tradition now haha.
But I’d be fine for another dad to live aside from Eliwood. (I believe he’s the only living FE dad?)
Well, I think there is Claude’s unseen father too actually.
I mean, the Fateswakening Dads are technically still living by endgame.
Finn
Bartre.
...but he doesn't father a main character tho so...
@@pokedude720 we kill them though. unless you mean the father of Odin, Ingo and Severa in which case fair enough (though correct me if I'm wrong but they also died in their timelines)
@@AlejandroRodriguez-cy8ee no, all the playable dads in the army (Chrom, Xander, etc.)
"Serenes Forest is often burning" a witty reference that is also a very accurate description of the forum (especially fan translation threads dear god)
I don't spend a lot of time there these days but I love the Serenes Forest website with all of my heart
Glad to see content from you again, your Three Houses new videos way-back-when really helped to get me excited for the game
Thanks Skides, hope you've been well! Here's to a solid 2022.
The good maps elevate the series to a whole new place.
Conquest Chapter 10 is one of the best levels Intelligent Systems has ever created. I have to admit, after playing Conquest, Birthright and Revelation were such a letdown.
Fr the maps in conquest are so much fun to play
17:53 “Everyone enjoys Fire Emblem for different reasons” *shows a picture of Keaton’s ass*
Yeah, that’s me, that’s my reason.
9:42
There's also the "already dead" trope, and it so happened both are named Monica...
Someone joked about a Monica dumping one IS staff per iteration, but I fear it may be truth.
I think the Smash fandom is waaaaaay more toxic than the Fire Emblem one, at least. So, we're not the worst of the Nintendo franchises.
yet ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@lucky_crit How toxic do you think the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda fans are? Just out of curiosity.
I haven't peeked much in those, specifically, but I feel like the general consensus of odyssey and botw were overtly positive and fans were happy. Haven't seen Mario or Loz drama in my feed
@@grahamdamberger7130 I feel toxic fanbases only come from franchises that are very ambitious like Sonic, and Metroid.
Yeah there can absolutely be a game where they are much more important and useful, it just hasn't been their time yet :(
I mean, they shouldn't be balanced around maps that give them a designated spot.
It would be a weird vibe to suddenly jump from your units to fake units and break up your normal gameplay though
I'd only use Annie as a rallybot (or any rallybot for that matter) if I were making an enemy turn Ferdinand/Ingrid/Dimitri/Bernedetta/Shamir build (those characters specifically because of great enemy turn potential in all of them)
Lucky: It's so hard to have a Fe game where your that don't die?
Eliwood: I'M NOT DEAD!
But Hecc though... 😢
@@lucky_crit Well Lilina's not a lord but I see your point.
The only fire emblem game in which the dad doesn't die is the binding blade(and yet that's eliwood, a playable unit from fe7)

My answer is simple.
I like a lot of people highly regard Conquest's maps, but iirc Birthright was very awakening-like with a lot of seize/enemy clearing maps
@@lucky_crit conquest definitely had some of my favorite maps especially against the Hoshidan siblings
"Overpriced DLC"... hard yes. Inflation came early for Nintendo. 😅 I love SoV forever, but yeah they messed up there. Not even the fault of the game, just greed.
At least they learned.
@@lucky_crit Agreed. 👍 Cindered Shadows and DLC overall could've been better as you said, but it was alright.
Definitely agreeing with the #1 and that's why it's turned me off actually voting in events with FEH (CYL is the main reason)
But honestly I've found some great groups/individuals with FEH so I'm keeping playing 😅
Roy is the only lord that his father lived through the duration of the game
Not other protagonists have their fathers live till the end
Even Roy's father eliwood his father died midway through the game
But most does have siblings
Though alm celica roy and three houses protagonists doesn't have siblings
Sigurd might be the only protagonist who have a cousin
??? Celica has a brother and Edelgard had siblings.
@@RubyChiang was celica's sibling alive in the duration of the game
Since I'm more familiar with gaiden more than echoes
@@lucky_crit Honestly, yeah... even Heroes had a continent name.
@@qazentro4444 oh sorry
I 100% agree with the balance especially for the armored units and i have a few way to fix those (and also tweeking some other units) :
1) make them immune to terrain movement penalty. That would make them able to catch up with your army
2) make them stronger and less vulnerable to magic. Since they are supposed to be those humongus tanks that dish out a lot of damage make them just that
3) and this one isn't related to the armored units but the mounted units especially the fliers, make them weaker/more vulnerable.
Your comment was an interesting feast of charm, to be sure. Where can I get me some Archanean teats
@@valarmisAs that blasted website would say: Tropes are Tools.
I have seen so much lol
Overall I agree with your picks. I have the same problems here and there. I want unit portraits updated or at least when class change keep their identity or color.
There are writing issues, but complaining that the story uses tropes is like complaining a meal has ingredients. The problem is not that they use tropes, the problem is their selection and use of them.
Sure, the actual problem is the same sprinkling of tropes over and over again. Season it with something different!
Even if she is tough to train at first, if she gets going she can sometimes become hilariously powerful (which is to my experience what Amelia tends to be)
Overall FE is all about experience and choices, and when some people bash others for their own choices or preferences it just causes discord to run amok in the fanbase.
Greatest moment of fandom unity was when Byleth was chosen for smash.
For us maybe but not smash fans lmao
As someone who has played Awakening and loved playing it, I can agree that ambush spawns can rot in a special place in hell.
it's unfortunate that magic can be so limited, specifically looking at 3 houses. You can build a team however you want but only use spells in a mage, base, or very specific class. Even Edelgard's unique armour emperor class couldn't use magic despite her budding talent. Would have been interesting if units could use magic but non mage classes having a heavy penalty or something
13:50 it is so not a nitpick, every game before fates at the very least developed the world somewhat and gave the continent names
Yeah, being able to cover for even just adjacent units would at least make sense, especially if they can counter.
Fire Emblem is one of my two favorire game franchises of all time and I rarely talk about it to other people, because of the 1. point on this video.
😢
My favorite thing about 3H is how it could have been a story between Edelgard and Dimitri differences with Rhea being the big bad but for some reason Byleth and Claude exist.
14:58 As someone who also plays Yu-Gi-Oh this gave me a good laugh because it's so true.
I love Yugioh but man what have they done over the years
"Top 10 Reasons I HATE Fire Emblem" would have gotten more views for a title
You're probably right, but that provides more of a true hatred context, and I just can't hate it that much lol! I may experiment with the title, though. We'll see
Yea, the only time I felt like armoured knights were decent was in fates, and that's basically only because wary fighter was such a useful skill to have on the class
I agree with you on the allied units!
Except. For. That. Swordmaster. You know the one.
3-13 Archer wants to know your location...
19:35 That Enemy got 69 health points Noice.
Okay… last time I said that number 1 will be Fire Emblem the Franchise. And I’m wrong… but also close… this time I have no clue because I’m watching this muted while waiting for my professor to get in class…
Anyway the new number 1 guess is Fire Emblem the Fandom.
Lol cheers for the dedication. You got it!
16:03 holy shmokes, is that a real piece of officially licenced FE material?
The #1 on this list I agree with this so much.
Good conclusion to the list, Stevie. I'm always glad to see your content whenever it comes out.
Thank you for all your support over the years, Seva!
It was great to have you back Stevie! Having these two videos here has reignited my want for more FE non LP content. So thank you for that!
Thanks for tuning back in, hoping to make this a solid year!
@@lucky_crit And you are honestly encouraging me to come back to stuff that isn't streaming as well so best of luck to both of us!
Everybody knows Fates' continent is named Fateslandia
Riiiiiiight
I don't even know the reason I like the fire emblem...
I know your pain
The reason why people knock on armored units is pretty obvious
No one likes to play defensively
Agree with your point on the story concept of Fire Emblem, as neat as a concept it is, like map objectives its trends can occasionally be repetitive like too many Main Character's Parents deaths like Cornelius Elbert Fado Greil Mikoto and Jeralt, a close friend or close family member of a playable/ally character (not necessarily the Main Character/Lord) on the enemy's side like Camus, Eldigan, and Xander (Fates Birthright) though never showing resentment. I mean they tend to fit in with the plot but sometimes poor execution of the trend
Echoes pay walled supports
i have to defend it the part on the dads, it kinda highlights the parts of war but i think they need to to make him (characters dad the jeigin) and have him accompany you through the tutorial like a lyn mode and then the real game begins and things have to go more of a Rudolf and alm to complete for a reason. but it has to be done perfectly to be a better version of jill and her father that has more weight behind it
Totally agree with the list, specially #3.
What's the ending song? Anyone know?
If you mean before the outro screen, it's the Fire Emblem Heroes main theme. At the outro screen is a custom Lucky Crit outro track!
@@lucky_crit I meant the outro theme. Great theme man!
Next game needs echoes level animations, Awakening level battle system, and fates level online content where I can beat people up with my buffed units
In no order:
10: Avatars.
Oh damn for once someone makes actual comments on something is bad and not just dumb opinions or nonsense
I love fire emblem but no i can see your point and agree on most of this i just love the series anyways
I'm honestly annoyed that Fire Emblem in Great Fray Smash Brothers lack any of the costumes throughout throughout the series, and instead just relies heavily on character/costume references, and that's just lame.
Awakenings DLC from what I remembered was $50 including tax and if you bought all the packs individually it was $70 with tax
If you pay them individually.
O great its the same model but now its see-thru. great...
Fates is just awakening clone. Invisible enemies are like risen.
The forgot about the master classes in the dlc in echo
I never understand how anyone can dislike the Archer class. There so good
I don’t care for the same troupe as long as it’s good.
Like I may not agree with veteran FE fans but they are not insufferable compared to “if it’s not a carbon clone of the original nes Zelda game and is 3D, linear, more dungeon focused it’s trash and Zelda should return to its roots” type Zelda fans that have constantly complained 2D Zelda is better and how the Zelda series went through a dark age from 1996-2012, etc. or the 8.8 fiasco or what they did to Jim Sterling when they gave Breath of the Wild a 7/10
Like FE fans will describe what their least favorite game is and how it should improved but still give credit on what they liked about it.
I would take any FE fan over a zelda fan.
That's fair when you put it that way.
Dang ambush spawns only getting an honorable mention??? You ever get killed by an ambush spawn freaking dragon lord??? I forget if it's 3H or Awakening (or both) that has it, but shits terrible
I would make lots of little changes to the series.
Doubling = 6 or more speed gap
Chip damage from Echoes
Armour units are immune to chip damage and +def/res, but -movement
No child units, no time travel, no alternate dimensions
Avatar = not the main character who everyone SIMPS for 24/7
No gender locking
(but in the end the pokemon IP just get alot of new blood without any real opinion about the IP that why I think it probably less "toxic")
Any way perso I like the games alot I played fate and I won't lie It was kinda bad in my opinion tho three house was a good set in the right direction in my opinion.
Also Amelia being bad it kinda true tho ppl like an chalenge and useing Amelia can be fun to do seeing her being bad and improveing is fun.)
Any way just alot of different way to do it.
Glad to see a positive take at the end 😊
Definitely a valid list the whole way through. I always hated how the villager characters canonically stay complete novice trash even if you trained them into super soldiers. Though I don't really feel like the Pokemon diss was needed
I just feel like SWSH and BDSP were both super rushed and lazy, it's been getting worse for years now. It's not completely the devs' fault, it's The Pokémon Company as an entity
It is nice to see you back making Fire Emblem TH-cam Content.
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
I agree WiTh EvErY LaSt OnE oF tHeM!!! Except... wait... 3H had stories? 🤔
lol you just decide which side wins. And that it. 2 options and it's not much for what would require 4 playthroughs. Claude back story could have made the whole thing a bit more interesting, but it seems like they just forgot to add it in.
My pet pev. Kronya dying too early they could've used her more or just kept her as Monica...
Does Three Houses got a Undead army like Fates Vallites or echoes DLC Spectors.
Smt and Persona fans love to absolutely kill each other over why their favorite games are better than your favorite. Weird to see other fanbases doing the same
"Base game being priced at $60."
Me walking into a Best Buy or Walmart to see the Base game priced at $70. As well as every other Switch game, for 2 whole years after their release.
Where do you live? Canada? Yikes
All I can say is that Sumia is Lucina's canon mother
#1 deserves its place bc GameFAQs is a cesspool. I guess I haven't seen if it's the same level of toxicity discussing other games, but the ad hominem attacks in the FE forum were terrible. I spent little time on Serenes Forest but thought it was good. It was worth mentioning that they tried too hard to escape something tropey and ended up with a ridiculously convoluted story in Fates.
17:41 I don't know man thr community is sounding very sus.
I have some unpopular opinions when it comes to Fire Emblem so much that I just keep away from the fandom.
I'd say in terms of fandoms, in my experience the Legend of Zelda fandom can get surprisingly divisive.
