i lost it when you exlaimed 'Its a flat head?!' So true man, so true. Kits are never what they seem to be lol. RTR is better, especially with all the added details from the manufacturers these days. As Ken Patterson says 'its plastic brass; Plastic models, with the level of detail of brass counterparts'
I’ve built a few of those Athearn kits, you sounded exactly like I do when I build them! I really don’t like putting those couplers on they frustrate me to no end, but as always great video!

I am not the best at kit building because they except people with giant hands to glue little parts. the most simple to build is a boxcar
Any plans to extend this? Mayb3 a Lego Diesel kit to pull the rake?
