I got back into wrestling around 2016, I soon realized that what the internet wrestling community thought was good and what I thought was good were completely different.

It's not hard to see the flaws in the company, I was a hardcore TNA fan back in the day and believed that they could do no wrong. We have to get out of the mindset of defending bad booking and decisions.
Funny enough, TNA started to really get good after 4-5 years and it was hot for a few more before it started to decline. AEW was hot at first and it reached its peak in 2022. Then Brawl Out happened and everything has gone down the toilet since then. I understand fans being patient with TNA in 04/05 because it was new and growing. If you did it in 2014 that's a problem. AEW now is in a similar situation to TNA at that time; there's even rumors of WBD taking the shows off of TNT and TBS just like Spike TV cancelled Impact in 2014. AEW shows might air TruTV, which isn't much better than TNA going to Destination America.

@@solidsnake8331 I watch the highlights and I try to keep up with what's going on. There's a lot of talent there and if they were on a better network they'd have similar numbers to Collision or Rampage, which isn't much but it's a lot better than what TNA has now.

I don't want AEW to go out of business because it's good for competition, WWE was at their worst when they had no competition, the guys were getting paid less as well, Competition is good. But AEW has to improve.
I don't want AEW to go out of business either, but they will eventually if Tony can't get out of the way. I really don't think AEW has anything to do with WWE getting better. It all has to do with Vince being out of the picture. AEW can hardly be considered competition at this point.

No TV exec can see the low numbers, the bad behaviour and the poor management from everyone at the top and be serious about giving them a platform.
Rumors have always been that Warner has some ownership stake in AEW. Worse comes to worse it'll get shoved on streaming.
WWE being this hot right now might actually save AEW's TV deal. Executives will see the growth in interest for wrestling in general and they might think there's potential for it to trickle down to AEW.

There's no way, at all, that AEW will get a bigger TV rights deal. They will claim they did but a company with those ratings will NOT get a raise.

2008 TNA had at least a watchable product and had some truly fantastic PPV matches
AEW has a bunch of top characters using different shades of "I have the best matches" gimmick, so the promos are usually just bragging about themselves and listening to "you deserve it" chants. They just want to book great matchups, not thinking that the fight is the final part of the movie. You need interesting characters, drama, character motivations and stakes. You need the movie part of the movie. AEW only seems interested in the big battle part.

Tony Khan is the biggest problem with AEW, as well as the diehards. Instead of trying to book coherent stories, he instead books "dream matches" with zero build up.

One of the biggest problems is that AEW is booking these TV shows in huge venues and it comes across like house shows because of the lack luster cards .. why the hell are they booking TV tapings in counties that have a population of 6k .. these TV shows should have your best of the best .. not NJPW no selling in front of a couple thousand of people ON TV! or Brian Keith vs Kingston 😂 .. it's weird they had a few good shows in a row in March .. now it seems TOTALLY DIFFERENT

Tony Khan used to tweet about UK viewer figures, when they hit 210k in November 2022. The most recent figures for Dynamite, has them under 48k and we dont actually know what the number was because it wasnt in the top 50 shows for the channel. Recent high point was 100k for Sting and Darby Allin winning the rag belts. Trend has been 10k a week down.

That would actually be smart booking. Instead of taking shots at WWE. Play off of WWE. So many folks in AEW have ties to WWE. Play off of it or do extended vaguely associated stories. They use to do them a lot back in the day, that makes wrestling fun. But being smart is not what they know to do.

Children are a huge demographic of wrestling. You have to make content, stories, and format the show in a way that they will enjoy too.
It’s not all about the 30 year old males who love high work rate matches. But they refuse to acknowledge this point.
Those kids can watch WWE. I don’t understand your point. You are both arguing that there are a variety of wrestling tastes but also that AEW’s fans’ tastes are invalid and the product should placate a different audience. Arguing that all media has to have broad appeal is dumb. 30 year olds can have a high work rate wrestling program and you don’t have to like it.

Tony’s main problem is he is entirely too online and assumes his audience is as well. Look at all the people who disappear with no explination. I’m sure it’s announced on Twitter or other websites but most fans don’t know but I think Tony assumes everyone is obsessed as he is. I’ve been a big supporter of AEW but it’s exhausting to try and follow. It’s a part time job for a lot of these fans

Is AEWs decline Tony's fault? At least partially. Letting certain elements run wild behind the scenes hasnt helped. Another part of it, is the resurgence of the WWE. If it wasnt for HHH taking the helm, who knows what a stinking pile things would be right now. At best, night 2 of WM40 would have headlined rock vs roman. With the rest being meh. Mebbe im being a bit harah in that assessment, but Vince wasnt soing his product any favors either. If AEW is to survive the next few years, Tony has to mostly vanish, sign a solid booker, and let his VERY good roster prove that they are.

The AEW fanboys are really bad, like most fanboys I suppose. The thing is most people who are wrestling fans actually want another good show. Not only for viewing and enjoying. But competition can push one another to be better. It is also good because it is a place for more people to work and make money. This is not a pro sport where there are already to many teams. Plenty of room for more than one promotion in wrestling.
I used to genuinely enjoy AEW, but they really lost me hard around mid 2022. I can't pinpoint a specific thing but it just stopped "working". I just watched WMXL this year and besides two matches, enjoyed the whole, long ass show.
I've been watching since the beginning of aew but I get called a fed baby for bringing up AEW's issues that are ruining the company. It makes me want to give up on aew cause I'm sick of the fan base being delusional towards the problems that need to fucking change. I wanted AEW to be successful but they look weaker than ever and have exposed themselves . I cannot respect someone who fears for their life over a middle school scuffle.

Aew rampag needs to move to Sunday nights. There is no good cable tv on Sunday anymore and that would be a good slot for them to get a lot of eyes. They just need to have a banger main event each week
