*An overview of the Salwa Eid Naser 2-year drug ban* It is important to realise when reading this that some banned substances (e.g. human growth hormone) can be cleared from the system in a few hours, while others (e.g. EPO & oral anabolic steroids) can be cleared in 24-48 hours, but can help to build muscle mass, bone density and endurance which lasts for weeks, and sometimes months, after use. Furthermore, methods like microdosing (lower dose but higher frequency) make detection even more difficult, therefore immediate testing is imperative during random drug testing attempts. Athletes are required to update their whereabouts every annual quarter on an app for the coming three months, and provide an hour window every day to be tested. This can be edited 24/7. - On the first testing attempt, a drug tester came to the address provided in Bahrain and knocked. No answer. The athlete was emailed and given two weeks to explain herself. She didn't respond. She said later that she didn't get the email and must have not heard the tester knocking at the door. At a hearing she later admitted that she no longer lived at that address when the tester called. - Four days after the first attempt, a second attempt was made. A man answered the door who said he didn't know of her living there. Drug tester went to the stadium to see if he could find her training there. He couldn't. He rang her assistant who provided a new address for her, but said she had flown to Dubai the day before. Regardless, the tester called round to her new address. Her brother answered the door and said she had gone out. The following day she was found in Dubai and tested. She was asked to explain herself and she said she didn't know her login details on the app, and that she gets a guy to update her whereabouts on the app for her, but he forgot to put down that she was going to Dubai. - Less than a month later, drug tester was unable to test her as the address provided was number 964 but the numbers on the street only went to 954, so the address didn't exist. He thought it might be 954, as that was the number previously noted as her address on the app, so they knocked on that door 13 times over the course of an hour. No answer. Her address was listed as Flat 11; there was a door 11 and a door 12. Confusingly, the entrance to Flat 11 (and other apartments) was via Door 12, but the tester was knocking on Door 11, which housed gas canisters. Then the tester tried to ring her on a phone number previously provided. After five attempts an automated message said the number was out of reach. Five hours later the tester returned to 954 but couldn't find her there again. He tried her training facility but it was closed. This third attempt accusation was essentially scrapped as the tester had knocked on Door 11, not Flat 11. He explained that he tried to open Door 12, which led to Flat 11, but that it was locked. The athlete, her family, her partner at the time, and her landlord all said Door 12 is always unlocked. - Six months later, running her fifth race in five days, she ran the 3rd fastest 400m time in women's history, the fastest time since 1985, and the fastest 'clean' time in history (as 1st and 2nd place in history were recorded by drug cheats), shaving a massive 0.94s off her PB. - Three months later, a testing attempt was made on a hotel address in Nigeria. After the failed attempt, she was contacted by email - she said that she didn't get the email because her email account was hacked so that she's using a new email address. The date she gave for her account being hacked, which was a date before any of the missed drug tests, was contradicted by the emails she had sent to the testing body from the apparently hacked account at dates subsequent to it being hacked. She explained that on the day of the testing attempt, she had told her technical manager she was flying from Bahrain to Nigeria but would be staying in a different hotel to the one listed on the app. He was to update the app for her when she knew the name of the new hotel, but by the time she got to the hotel and texted him, he was sick and asleep. So the wrong hotel in Nigeria was listed on the app. She couldn't contact anyone else to update it as she lost internet connection. The tester tried to contact her but she missed the call. The next day the app was updated with her new location, she waited there for a tester, but none came. She was later asked to provide proof of her flight to Nigeria but could not provide any. - She was served a two year ban for having three infringements over a 12 month period. Struggled with injuries for six months after ban, then struggled to match her pre-ban times for the next 12 months, before sudden massive improvement in 2024 Olympics to finish 2nd (from sub-51 seconds only 2 months prior, to 48.53 at Olympics).
That journalist is a disgrace, and perhaps, he’s the one that should be tested. Disgusted by how they even allow such classless clowns, instead of focusing on the positives, like on someone who just broke the Olympic record, maybe? A gold medal winner - but no, instead decides to attack a lady that probably has overcome impossible things in life, to even get back on track with her life, as an athlete. She’s a winner, and deserves the respect, and the ethics, at least, after all. The last journalist showed respect and professionalism. Anyway, great competition, and congrats to the humble champion, Paulino, from The Dominican Republic. ❤️🔥

It was two Irish journalists, David Walsh and Paul Kimmage, who first questioned Lance Armstrong and faced massive public backlash over it. Look up video of Paul Kimmage calling Lance a cancer. And it was an Irish woman, Emma O'Reilly, who blew the whistle on Lance. Maybe hold off on criticising the journalists here cos your comment might not age well
@@Mart-B It’s clear that you’re obsessed with controversy in journalism and doping scandals. That’s why you want this to be a Lance Armstrong situation soooo bad for your own entertainment even though it’s not.

Shame on the Olympics committee for allowing for the journalists to tarnish the hard work of each of them with harassment and negativity!! Not everyone is ready to defend themselves like Sha’Carrie Richardson (Who I LOVE btw!) So the olympic committee should not allow these hostile interview questions. The man who opened didn’t even know WHAT COUNTRY the gold mentalist was from. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!
Its really disrespectful that they are attacking her this way, she missed dope tests due to whereabouts, she didnt fail any test. This was many years ago, way back in 2019 and she served a two year ban. Why are they using her past against her?
These so called “journalists “ need to be banned from ever participating in an event such as this ever again. Salwa has never failed a drug test. Never. She served her suspension for the missed tests. She is rigorously tested now. What more do they want and who the hell are they to ruin this moment in time for Paulinho!
These interviewers are cut throat what the hell??? Salwa was tested 19 times in 2019. There was a miscommunication which led to her whereabouts ban. She’s definitely a clean one
Salwa is definitely clean. She was a force in her youth. Starting with the youth Olympics till the world age champs. She's one of a very few who progressed well in track. This people are just mad because she denied their pick for a medal.
Those Irish journalists Gavin Cooney and Ger Gilroy needs sacking, absolutely vile behavior. Such disrespect to Salwa. They clearly expected Adeleke on the podium. The fact no one stepped in to allow that line of questioning in 2024…. Wow
OMG!!! What kind of questions are this? Someone should have controlled this kind of questioning. There was no moderator? Salwa is being attacked in a bad way. Asking her basically isn’t she ashamed to be competing!! This is very disappointing.
These reporters were so disrespectful to Salwa Eid Naser. These conservative Caucasian male reporters in power in the track and field world are targeting and attacking Salwa Eid Naser! Somebody needed to say it. I don’t care what is said this is my opinion. They’re mad at her natural talent, and are asking these questions so they can write articles later on and misconstrue her words and tear her image down even more so that she can’t move on from the past. More people should start calling out these reporters! Shacarri even called them out. They ask ridiculous questions and are literally targeting Salwa Eid Naser. It’s annoying and these are the reasons track has trouble being a bigger sport. Imagine the strength Ms. Salwa Eid Naser has to keep going even when people constantly tear you down because of things from 5 years ago when her brain wasn’t even fully developed at age 21?!?
I don't think your political stance, race, and gender have anything to do with what he said. I'm a conservative male and i wouldn't be saying the things he said.
They targeted Nasser because their athlete came fourth. Had nothing to do with white, politics or being male. They were salty their athlete was off the podium.
Naser should have prepared for the onslaught of PATHETIC questions and gave 1 statement and left it at that. She is one of my Favorites with those Sublime Running Mechanics!!!
The reporter didn't even know what country the participants were from, what a bad job! Marileidy Paulino is from the Dominican Republic, lack of respect and ignorant.
Why does the I O C allow their platform to be used for harassment? What does it say to all athletes involved in any controversy. Is this what we want to see?
Irish person here. Those two journalists (the Irish ones) were a bit out of line, and they should have used some time to congratulate the winners and/or ask them some questions (though why did no Dominican Republic or Polish journalists attend to ask questions?). However to give some context, yes there is disappointment about Rhasidat Adeleke only getting 4th, but the main reason for the questioning of Naser is that we in Ireland are very very anti-doping. Dopers are seen as no-good cheats and the worst of the worst for not running clean and fair. Even though Naser didn’t fail a doping test, her ban for breaking the whereabouts rules means people think of her as a cheat. To give a better example of how Ireland treats cheats, Irish swimmer Michelle Smith (de Bruin) won three gold medals in swimming at the 1996 Olympics. People, including most Irish people, were shocked and disbelieving at her sudden improvement at age 26, especially as her husband and coach had a 4 year doping ban himself. Two years later Michelle Smith received a 4 year ban, as her out-of-competition doping test was tampered with (the sample she gave had enough whiskey in it to be close to fatal). While she still has her 3 Olympic medals and didn’t test positive during the 1996 Games, she is celebrated by almost no-one in Ireland and the majority of the country ignores her 1996 success due to the ban in 1998. So we in Ireland just have a very low opinion of drug cheats and that explains a little the attitude towards Naser in my opinion.
Thank you for your explanation. He was completely disrespectful to her in how he handled this though. Approach is everything. It was appaling and shocking.
It really was so sad it hurt me. Such good positives to dig into / go around, but that instead? What a joke - Pathetic work by those 2 first journalists. Anyway, the recognition shows consciousness on your end, and that counts. Cheers
No problem , they were a disgrace just bitter adeleke didn’t medal bronze was the best she could have done 1st and 2nd were significantly better than the rest . The journalists in general seem to be clueless as far as I can see don’t know the sport at all particularly the more fringe events .
I am LIVID! This was disgusting. The level of disrespect was appaling. Nasser served her ban. She stayed deligent and came back and earned her medal. No one can take that from her! She did not deserve to be treated like this.
I don't think he was being racist. Their runner who is black got 4th. I think they are salty because her win left their runner off the podium. That's a theory at least. It was definitely disrespectful ×10.
This is totally disrespectful Nascer should got up walk out, They use all of this time to attack this young she was band for two years so she literally did her time.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting anyone to break Marie Jose Perec Olympic record 48.25 set in Atlanta 1996. But shouldn't be surprised because Sal Wa eid Nasar ran 48.14 in 2019 and Pauline had to run fast to beat Naser. Think Naser push Pauline to run that 48.17.
Naser didnt make the rules that allowed her reinstatement. The Irish need to take that up with the "governing" body that allowed her to run. Her team should have prepared her better to respond to these questions.
i have never liked "were abouts" bans. Its not as if they were missing for 3 months were a drug could leave the system. Often its a case of youthful irresponsibility like staying out too late or not showing up at the right place at the right time. Depending on what country you are in and your personal habits, where abouts violations can be a case of cultural behaviors or even misogyny. We can still test the athlete the next day. Reforms are needed before i take "where abouts" bans seriously.
@@Fefotwo-ps6hd in the context of being detectable, it takes a few hours for human growth hormone to leave your system, and it takes 24-48 hours for EPO & oral anabolic steroids to leave your system. Can be even quicker if you're microdosing. Where are you getting 3 months from?
@@Fefotwo-ps6hd if you're referring to how long the effects of these drugs can last, in terms of building muscle mass, bone density and endurance, then yes, the effect can be months. So that you could microdose up to a day or two before a test and appear clean, yet still reap the benefits a month or two later. Very convenient for Naser that she missed her drug tester 4 times in 12 months but made herself available the following day or days. But hey I'm sure she ran the fastest 'clean' time in history completely legitimately and fairly.
@@Mart-B I'm referring to "where abouts" violations. It's disingenuous to suggest doping control could not find the athlete for several months. Seems to me a professional service for all will find and test the athlete. My point is that where abouts bans leave more questions than answers. If the athlete has never tested positive in or out of competition, they deserve the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise what's the point? Vengeance for not being on time? Or clerical wrestling? Seems the system can improve in this day and age.
@@Fefotwo-ps6hd an athlete isn't gonna fail a test if they don't make themselves available for testing. No one said she was unavailable for months. Showing up a day or two later completely defeats the purpose. Are you advocating for a process that makes it even easier to dope?

Yeah this whole press conference is a mess. How do u not know which country the GOLD MEDAL WINNER is from? On top of that, protect the Silver medal winner from these redundant questions.
This is an outrage. Naser was unfairly banned for 2 years for missed tests. She served her time and came back and won olympic silver. Why are they acting like she was found with steroids in her system? That's messed up.
She wasn’t banned for four years
@pdfortune She was only allowed to compete in 2023. Due to appeals and technicalities she had to spend 4 years out of competition.
@@pdfortune I fixed it from 4 to 2 years.
C'mon, you knew that was coming 🤷🏿♂️
damn the Irish media is so salty that their athlete flopped..
Well i don't think you need to get back at the Irish media by disrespecting Adeleke saying that she flopped. She ran very well. She would've had to run a personal best to make the podium because it was a very fast race. She's still only 21. The future is very bright for her. Can't wait for her to run the 4x4 final!!!
Correct , the Irish journalists were unquestionably a disgrace I was cringing listening to them, but Adelke certainly didn’t flop , she ran to expected form. Paulinho and nasser were vastly superior to the rest so 1st or 2nd was never likely and kacmarek beat her in the Europeans so she had her measure again before the race I felt 3rd or 4th would be the presumed placing for her .
As far as the 4x4 relay is concerned they’ve done well to reach the final bronze at best one would imagine and that’s a stretch , USA Netherlands Jamaica and Poland strong teams . I’d love to see Sydney mcglouglin running on the American team
*An overview of the Salwa Eid Naser 2-year drug ban*
It is important to realise when reading this that some banned substances (e.g. human growth hormone) can be cleared from the system in a few hours, while others (e.g.
Next year salwa is going to win gold
Yes and I hope she slams those reporters with a gold in world championship next
Disgraceful behavior by those "reporters"
This journalist are from Ireland, the 4th was from Ireland so why don’t try to take down this one
He was obviously not happy that Adeleke didn't medal lol. I guarantee that he'll make an article about how Adeleke should've gotten the bronze medal and talk about how Nasser is a cheat. That's the narrative he'll create for sure.
How are you going to guarantee it if it doesn’t happen?
@@boringlifeofateen Spot on. he just wrote the article. Gavin Cooney what a shame.
The questioning from these journalists were so disrespectful and ruined such a triumphant time in the lives of these olympic champions.
Marileydi Paulino is From Dominican Republic 👍💯❤️🥇🇩🇴, but thanks for the correction later.
that he did was just racist. Stating marileydi was from cuba. He didnt even do his job right
These so called “journalists “ need to be banned from ever participating in an event such as this ever again. Salwa has never failed a drug test. Never. She served her suspension for the missed tests. She is rigorously tested now. What more do they want and who the hell are they to ruin this moment in time for Paulinho!
disgusting,....if i would have been present,i would have kicked his ass
These interviewers are cut throat what the hell???
Salwa was tested 19 times in 2019. There was a miscommunication which led to her whereabouts ban. She’s definitely a clean one
Salwa is definitely clean. She was a force in her youth. Starting with the youth Olympics till the world age champs. She's one of a very few who progressed well in track. This people are just mad because she denied their pick for a medal.
@@saminates2002 a miscommunication?
@@Mart-B According to reports yes.
Those Irish journalists Gavin Cooney and Ger Gilroy needs sacking, absolutely vile behavior. Such disrespect to Salwa. They clearly expected Adeleke on the podium. The fact no one stepped in to allow that line of questioning in 2024…. Wow
They’re salty cause Adeleke got 4th… 😅
OMG!!! What kind of questions are this? Someone should have controlled this kind of questioning. There was no moderator? Salwa is being attacked in a bad way. Asking her basically isn’t she ashamed to be competing!! This is very disappointing.
Those Irish reporters need to be banned. They all asked the same question to target Salwa. Shame on the moderator for letting this happen.

please get rid of these Irish reporters! what is this maddest. Salwa handled herself with grace.
Stupid comment by you. First White and Conservative has nothing to do with it. Also, you have no idea if they were conservative or not. Pathetic
Conservative no proof that they are so why speculate? Also, it is irrelevant. I’d rip you up, but it would probably get removed.
I don't think your political stance, race, and gender have anything to do with what he said. I'm a conservative male and i wouldn't be saying the things he said.
LIBERALS DO NOT LIke THE WORD GOD CONSERVATIVES WILL NEVER ATTACK WHEN GOD IS MENTIONED THESE ARE LIBERAL REPORTERS
They targeted Nasser because their athlete came fourth. Had nothing to do with white, politics or being male. They were salty their athlete was off the podium.
Such a class act Dios te bendiga . Viva la Republica ❤
I had no idea tht she was tested 20 times before the race in Doha
Nasty journalism, targeting Sawa, the hate was there..
Naser should have prepared for the onslaught of PATHETIC questions and gave 1 statement and left it at that. She is one of my Favorites with those Sublime Running Mechanics!!!
Bloody hell, that was freaking brutal. The awkwardness was through the roof.
She is from Dominican Republic
Such disgusting men, bullying a young woman.

@@ernestofelix6734no it wasn't. His paper was wrong. You saw him apologize and pull out a pen and correct his notes. It was a mistake.
Proud of you Marileidy 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
Shame from begging to the end

The reporter put a damper on the reason to celebrate.
Irish journalists representing our country very poorly there painful to listen to them.

Man I wish I was Salwa at that press conference, I have a ton of responses for those racist Irish so-called journalists. Smh 😤
I don't think he was being racist. Their runner who is black got 4th. I think they are salty because her win left their runner off the podium. That's a theory at least. It was definitely disrespectful ×10.
This is totally disrespectful Nascer should got up walk out,
They use all of this time to attack this young she was band for two years so she literally did her time.
The amount of disrespect...
The reporter from Ireland was rude because their runner finished fourth in that race.
This interview was torture for the participant athletes. What a travesty.
That's why they dislike the reporters and many don't do these conferences or the mixed zone. The disrespect is disgusting.
Rude, why are they attacked this young lady. Horrible
They should've banned that journalist from asking anything. So rude
Salwa and Paulino will go sub 48 seconds soon
Naser didnt make the rules that allowed her reinstatement. The Irish need to take that up with the "governing" body that allowed her to run. Her team should have prepared her better to respond to these questions.
She responded well. She was clearly hurt and almost in tears. She is a human being and she handled it well and stood up for herself!
i have never liked "were abouts" bans.
Please enlighten everyone on how you think the process works. Most athletes have no issue taking their tests.
It takes human growth hormone a few hours to become undetectable. In the space of 12 months she disappeared 4 times when they tried to test her. Showing up a day or two later completely defeats the purpose. Are you advocating for a process that makes it even easier to dope?
this is inquisition, not press conference, shame on journalist.
