Bones, Xavier Wulf, $uicideboy$/Ramirez, Denzel Curry, Ski Mask & Ghostemane are huge & still doing well for themselves. "Emo rappers" like Lil Lotus, Lil Tracy , Nothing Nowhere, Wicca Phase & Coldhart still have solid fanbases as well. Then finally there's super lowkey rappers like Ugly Frank/ILLFIGHTYOU, Reptilian God Mana, Dxct, Mavo, Grimm Doza, Lord Apex, Beamon who most people have never heard about but are extremely unique & talented artists that will always have some loyal fans. You probably don't give a fuck I'm just putting it out there. Soundcloud wasn't just the heavy hitters you mentioned & then hypebeast rappers like Purpp, Pump & Ugly God lol. TBH, the dude's whole career is luck based. He was in the right place, at the right time. And the day that the Illuminati tendril fell in his court.. it was like a meteor made of diamond landing at this guys feet. He did get Lil Pump into rapping, but honestly that's about it. He claims to be a major contributor to Gucci Gang, and other hits. And I don't doubt that maybe he took part in an 808 tweak here or there, or a Bass note/line of his MIGHT have been put in there some place.. but being to the point where he was a big contributor to those hits?? --- NAH. Cuz looking back, that statement has not aged well at *all.* [Proof: Ever since the spotlight has shifted off mumblerap. And all the big producers, ghost writers, artists, etc... have shifted focus -- Smokepurpp, has *unironically* not made a single smash hit.. or even come CLOSE to being apart of any major hit since then. I'm calling B.S. Lil Pump just hooked his day 1 up phat with shout outs] But honestly tho, Smokepurpp fell off even further back then this.. his freestyle he did, where he started humming, and repeating himself -- it's not like he was on his way up or anything, at that point -- *that was what he became known for.* He blew up and went viral over that, and pretty much all of his momentum he had built up was shot down HARD. He got clowned, turned into a meme, and all the people who had helped blow him up/hype him up(besides Pump).. were now in full swing coverage of taking apart of the clowning. The coverage on that, and the damage it did to his career became evident in his 'Florida Jit' album, (which came out around that era) selling less then $5,000 worth all together on the first WEEK of release. This was all back 2+ year ago already. It's a miracle this guy is even being mentioned at all at this point, because he's literally not trash.. he's not last year's trash.. he's not the last years, last year's trash... he's coming up on last year's, last years, LAST YEAR's trash. This man's luck hasn't run out yet, but it's more like i'm just assuming that Lil Pump is still making sure his boy is taken care of. Because there's no damn way trash from almost 1000 days ago is still on the up and up bro. This dude's been broke. And still, with all that.. dude did better then 99.99999%

If you base your career around a trend you will die with the trend that’s why you need to diversify which is what most dead rappers didn’t do or just be unique which even less do.
Facts this is why Post Malone is still very relevant and why Mac Miller didnt fall off after the swag era
exactly , this is why you just never base anything around trend because they come and go so easily
@@SFCityKids finally someone gets it
That’s why you create the trend and then everyone will follow. Like you said don’t base your career around a trend. But be the reason people hop on that trend instead of following one yourself.
As long as he’s getting payed, he will continue, even if it’s only 50 people, it’s better than 0$ so I can see why he is still hustling, gotta milk every dollar you can with the career he built, and falling off. He’s making what he can before he can’t anymore.
The whole thing is he’s not making any money at all. He’s under contract with a record label. His label is pouring more money into his career buying views on social media than Smokepurpp is making them. And record label money isn’t free. They expect Smokepurpp to make up all the difference and put out a hit. Which obviously ain’t gonna happen. He’s probably seriously in debt with his label. He’s not making any bread lol. When artists under contract are successful they usually only see like maybe 25% of the income they make and the label takes the rest. This dude is selling 50 ticket concerts getting maybe 20% of the overall show. That is literally pocket change like he’s makin maybe $100 at those shows dude. His career is beyond dead.
@@cooliodiablo4571 I would agree but to be fair we zero idea what else he has going on. He could be making a lot of money from other avenues.
Doesn't he just make money from streams? At this point going to these venues isn't worth spending gas money
quit. have respect. work at the car wash were you should have been anyway
and when they give you 1m when you sign your contract. thats a loan not a bonus. they take money out of your cut until its paid back. some rappers flop and end up bankrupt or oweing a label millions and having no career@@cooliodiablo4571

Purp was the one that put PUMP onto the game. Purp was essentially his 'producer' and 'manager' and also had some influence to mold Pumps persona to make him big. Pump never even wanted to become big when he first started, but now that he is, of course he wants to retain as much relevance as he can.
Exactly! He put the video together without caring about looking it up 😂😂 which I can't blame him for not killing his brain cells. Only reason I know is because I'm a producer also

Not that much of a fan of him, but I predict sometime in the future sound cloud rappers will become celebrated cult classics; not to the level of household names and icons. But, a good dedicated resurgence of music hunters.
It has similarities to when punk rock popped up and made music more accessible to "regular" people... So I think your prediction is spot on. It's a notable moment in hip-hop/music history forsure. It's even complete with it's own aesthetic.
I feel relaxing when I watch youre videos

Crazy how 2017 is considered back in the days 😂 these rappers nowadays have the shelf life of a can of beans
Lil Pump just hooked his day 1 up phat with shout outs]
But honestly tho, Smokepurpp fell off even further back then this.. his freestyle he did, where he started humming, and repeating himself -- it's not like he was on his way up or anything, at that point -- *that was what he became known for.* He blew up and went viral over that, and pretty much all of his momentum he had built up was shot down HARD.
And still, with all that.. dude did better then 99.99999%
Purpp literally wrote Gucci Gang bro tf are u talking about

Shit like this is why I always tell people that building an Instagram following is worthless as a musician, like 80% of the time they’re there to see what you post on IG, not to listen to your music. Especially if you’re new to making music there’s gonna be a lot of locals hate watching

This is what I called about these soundcloud mumble rappers. Sure, they popped off big in the beginning and felt like they can't be touched. But, once the clout dies down what else could they bring to the table? People nowadays change their tastes overtime and grow. And, if these dudes cannot grow and develop as artists and as people and get respect from their elders they wont be here. We are now seeing the fallout of these dudes. Don't get me wrong I ain't a fan of their work but I understood why people liked it at a time. But, they hurting now and realizing that their music can only go so far and taking bad contracts and blowing through their money. These fools looking childish and going out sad.
