Liverpool were the walking wounded with injuries everywhere and it was also the first season for all 4 of their regular midfielders. Salah was injured for the first time that I can remember, Diaz had his parents kidnapped and the manager announced he was leaving. The team simply ran out of steam at the end. This season, the midfield is clearly showing that a season together has made a difference, the forwards aren't missing 90% of their chances and they are not playing every match at 100mph, so they should be stronger by the end.
