I guess that Dittersdorf was the type of composer who was not afraid to be different. In this quartet he gave instruments other then the first violin some really important parts. I like string quartets where it doesn't just sound like a mini concerto for the first violin.
this hear sum mitey nice musics to be awakin up to on a sonny srping moanin. gotta member an thanx cuzzin sal fer keepin thems kwartets in hisn playlistses. lotsa thanx to yall uplodin this un. it like sum kinda cosmic convurjense o all a planets an stars an galaxies in yunivurse makin big harmony soundz.
I wondered if there were any Dittersdorf quartets recorded, and you answered it for me... :-) Dittersdorf was 1st violinist in the Dittersdorf, Haydn (2nd violin), Mozart (viola) and Kraft (cello) quartet. Boy what would I have like to hear that... Greetings from the Netherlands, Rolf
The first three also played quartets with the great Johann Baptist Vanhal on cello. Here's a Vanhal quartet in the same key as the Dittersdorf above. What exquisite music would have been heard in that parlor! th-cam.com/video/2sIYqFB02Pg/w-d-xo.html
I love string quartets. Very intellectual music.
I agree with you...
