For every like this video gets, I’ll gift a copy of FCP 11 to 1 Bigfoot. Appreciate the constructive feedback on it being a bit confusing showing FCP with the callout effect. Definitely will take that into consideration with future videos!
Great explanation, I had not ventured to learn/use FCP over the past 2 years. However, the new options in 11 are enough to get me to try again. Thanks for the clear instructions and illustrations/examples!
Thanks for another extremely useful video! I've found a limitation in the Callout effect. If you want to pull out part of a document that's over some video, like we do all the time here in news, you can't move the callout past the edges of the document. I have to make a compound clip and do the callout from that if I want to move it to the other side of the screen. Hopefully they can work on that for FCP 11.1. Or maybe I need to improve my Motion skills! Can't wait for the next video!
Very well presented! Looking forward to more magic in Motion! I thought that looked a lot like Motion with the 1 second build in and out in the transition
Very nice features, thanks for the tutorial! If you’re working with vertical video, I wonder if there’s an option for the split video transition to start from the bottom or the top. I’m trying to think if that would make sense.
You should make a video on how to do a multi cam sync for a tutorial style video so a camera angle a screen record and audio file. Then show how to use the Picture in Picture with your pro zooms and pro pan. Multi cams are a pain to get right with these effects
mCamRig is the best 3D camera tool in FCP. But it’s not full 3D like I think you’re asking for. You would need to use Apple Motion for a 3D camera rig that allows you to move past other layers in the scene.
Thank you for all the nice content. I've been subscribed for a while and learned a lot. Could you help? I moved my LUTs in the ProApps folder (where I should have put them in the beginning), now on my project I get the Missing Custom LUT (alarm red panel). How can I link back the lut I used to the original footage? (not individually to all cuts I've made) Thanks in advance!
Hi Dylan! Recently purchased your PIP plugin and I was just wondering what are the benefits of your plugin compared to the new native FCP effect? I haven't updated to v11 yet.
My plugin comes with glow effects, animations, long shadows, background colors in the pip (if you remove the background behind you and need it) and if you ask me, is a bit easier to use. Also you can use any custom shape as a PIP if you need! Also it is made with older versions of FCP, so there’s no need to get 11 if you’re unable to.
Digging those new Reframe effects, I usually have a hard time with “magnifying glass” type of plugins for focusing and overlaying, they don’t seem to be able to reach the edges of a composition properly (the ones I have used at least). They seem to be adding new OSC elements right? That could be used by future user-made plugins. Question: would it be useful for them to exist as a title too? Maybe something that’s just a few click and reexport from motion. Great video UPDATE: oops, commented too quick, you did mention at the end that there’s potentially some goodness coming our way related to these effects and Motion
The OSC they are using is from the Sliced Scale effect in Motion added a few versions ago. I tried setting up a link to that particular effect when building my Pro Zooms 2.0 plugin, but could never get it working. But I looked into their new effects, and finally have it figured out I think! And yes 1,000%. That was one of the big things I’ll be showing in my video which makes this effect even better. Can’t wait!
Unfortunately no, but I’m investigating to see if that’s something we can add in Motion, which will then make it into my tutorial about upgrading these effects in the near future! I’m not sure quite how they set it up yet, but it should be possible depending on what they did in the Motion Template.
I noticed the split screen transition is off by -1 pixel on the right side. It makes a thin pixel line above it. I tried editing in motion but it wouldn’t move up.
Huh that doesn’t sound good! Did you happen to back up FCP beforehand? I’d definitely reach out to Apple support and see if they have any ideas for you.
Apologies for being THAT GUY, but after the Wednesday Update my mind immediately jumped to: “Motion 5.9?!?!?! What are they planning and Iterating towards for 6.0?!
Side note @ it is not highlighted just how well scaled FCP11, Motion & Compressor work independent of what AppleSoC you run. From Air to Ultra things will work. You might have time [that you probably need to go back to the user guide] but running on a slower system opens up opportunities to learn proxy workflows. Which are useful tools to keep in available for some larger scaled projects.
Dear Dylan Click-Bates, Maybe consider removing the word "insane" from the title and changing it to "Final Cut Pro 11 - Modular Transitions & Reframe Effects Are Useful"
0:49 not a big fan of the animated background when shoiwng showing examples. Creates unnecessary distractions. Please go back to the same simple style as before.
@@TheFinalCutBro XD so what we're saying is... they're going to be...TRANSITIONING to a better life? Also, appreciated seeing what these new tools can do for me a non-big-foot, as I wasn't particularly excited about them but now they look quite powerful when needed.

Love these new additions in FCP 11!
Now all we need is a proper key frame editor 🤞
Finally, a competitor to Magic Mask. I can't believe I will have this effect on the most smooth program in the world 😂❤❤❤
It seems like Final Cut Pro 11 has added some nice features, thanks for sharing.
Another brilliant video. These effects and transitions are a game changer for me. Many thanks for all your hard work Dylan.
Thanks Richard for always taking the time to not just watch, but also comment!
The least I could do Dylan. Your hard work if much appreciated. You are an inspiration!
This was awesome, but I do have to say that transition part was exciting to see
Excellent editing and explanation Dylan. You have quickly became my favorite FCP tutorial channel!
waiting to learn 0:00 intro how did you do that ?Awesome.hope you will guide us

i can't wait to see star transitions again in professional work its about time lol
I’m pretty sure Netflix is going to put it in Squid Game season 2

Hello bro can we connect Mac mini M4 with my 2018 modle i mac...?? Superb video love from India ❤.
thanks. i find the callout part of a Final Cut Video in Final Cut a bit confusing...
dammit, now I have to reedit something where I could use the callout feature. Also it seems to utilise my M1 studio better than before.
