In my 7th gen Nissan Maxima, I was just quoted around $400 for a TCM “reset”, an additional $1,400 just for the part to actually “replace it”, or $11,000+ for a transmission replacement. That was at the Nissan dealership in Bountiful, Utah, U.S.A. who are notorious crooks, though.
So i see everyone calls this dude out on the displaying of images being false, but is the information provided truthful?? By depressing the accelerator for 5 seconds or until you hear a click does it reset the TCM?
If a Nissan cvt is failing its most likely mechanical failure, they are not reliable at all so I would call bull on this video, some of the info is correct tho regarding a diagnostic procedure
Thank you for sharing this important information I have a faulty TCM on my 2007 Nissan Maxima SE I definitely will follow your instructions on trying to reset it. I wanted to ask you what can cause your TCM to go bad or that it needs to be reset?
There is many factors that can cause the tcm to malfunction ,as it is an electronic piece and the climate it encounters cold ,heat water ,ice...I had one that I did and emergency brake slam ( some fool pulled out in front of me as I was running about 45mph and had to jam the brakes hard and the tcm freaked and had my 2014 c1500 Chevy to get hung in 2nd gear, well just so happens I was the service mgr at a GMC dealer and had my trans tech hook it on the Gm tech 2 scan tool and in a matter of moments determined the module went into limp mode ...reprogrammed it scolded it for being naughty...
I've just completely rebuilt a 2015 nissan versa cvt transmission with a remanufactured valve body, all new seals and clutches. Kept the original rom and tcm. I have an Icon t8 scanner that allows me to reset learned values, calibration, g value, cvtf deterioration. Is that good eneough to use the car or do i still need to do more? I havent used the car yet as I'm worried to damage it before its properly set up. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. The T8 scanner does have a function for new control valve reset, but its faulty and doesnt complete the function, it freezes and hours later nothing has completed.
Tengo un problema con mi Nissan sentra 2008. Le cambié el stepper motor y después de instalar el cuerpo de válvula de regreso ahora mi carro no retrocede que crean que sea el problema? Necesitará reprogramcion el TCM?
I wrecked my nissan sentra 2012 and it shoved the fan into my tcm and bent it i replaced it with same year and options and matching number can i use this method to reset mine thanks
I have issues with my 2008 Nissan Sentra. After I changed the stepper motor and installed the valve body my car does not backup, does somebody knows what’s wrong with it?? I need help please thank you
I was in the middle of nowhere and this shit does work u have to do these steps and unplug the battery For a few minutes, good shit u just need to learn ya car parts and lights a little better 😅👍
A customer called all Mad after watching this. Said check engine light was on and transmission was going out. I finally got to look at car and told him he had a low tire. How can anybody don’t instructional videos. Not know what a TPMS indicator light is?????
Mine Sentra doesn’t move it starts up and it goes in reverse because I see the reverse camera coming on and I put it in neutral and I can push it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help me out
dude your giving terrible advise!! #1 transmissions DO NOT CONSUME FLUID so if low you have a leak.. fix it #2 telling people to add fluid when most dont know correct way to check it, like HOT Opposite of oil, so when they check cold or a little warm it will always be wrong, and manufacturers stopped putting dip sticks for this exact reason because too much fluid CAUSES ALOT OF DAMAGE TO TRANS. #3 if you notice something happening with transmission 99%+ the time its too late, YOU NEED to prevent damage by DOING maintenance when intervals come up STOP GIVING WRONG INFO!!!!!
I disagree. Yes this video relies on people having common sense but i understood perfectly fine. You can add fluid if your transmission is low..Your comment wasnt true at all
I have a 2014 push button start it's a Nissan maxima the transmission all at once just stop pulling while I was driving no indication or anything just stopped pulling and all gears is nutrual
Mine did that in my 2016 maxima then sounded like the bottom come out I said it's done nissan dealer said bad shift module replaced all three it was junk took it apart and it was in parts put a new tranny in and was fine.
LOL I hope no one listens to this Freak he does not know a tire icon from a check engine light. the transmission shifter featured in the video is a manual transmission, not a CVT.
Yes I gave you a thumbs down. Why are you ask? Because this is far and away some of the worst information I have ever seen on the internet hands down. Clearly whoever wrote this has no clue how a CVT transmission works or even have a car works for that matter. First of all you are pressing the brake when instructing others to depress the accelerator. Secondly CVT transmissions are a single speed belt driven transmission and do not shift. You actually stated the in the video when showing the cross-section of the trans, but then proceed on the talk about shift points and gears. So 90% of your video is completely incorrect and irrelevant. There are no shift points, or shift patterns in a CVT transmission because it does not shift gears, they do not have gears. If you have a CVT transmission and you feel it shifting gears, it is a simulation installed by the manufacturer to simulate a a normal automatic. So there are no programming of shift points, no hard shifts or any of the other things you listed in the video. Also the check engine light looks like an engine, or says service engine soon. The light you pointed out in the video has absolutely nothing to do with the engine. That is a tire pressure monitoring system alert. This is why the light looks like a cross section of a tire. Please, for the sake of all mankind remove this plethora of misinformation from the internet and please do not make any more videos, clearly you have no clue what you're doing.
You are getting everyone confused your information is wrong u are not a mechanic ,this kind of information you are putting out there can damage a person's car ,this need to stop all over the internet to many false so called mechanic need to get off of the internet it's very wrong Get off of youtube before you get in trouble.
This is a parody video right?? He can't even pronounce Nissan correctly and he shows a low tire pressure light for the check engine light. Is pressing on the brake pedal while calling it the gas pedal. Lord I hope he is trolling us.
That’s the low pressure tire indicator?
i started rolling when he said the tire light was a check engine light lmao!!!
And when he said turn the key on and hold the gas pedal it was a picture of the brake pedal
Also did he not know that most of them have key fobs NOT an key 🗝️...🤷👎👎
Riight
Exactly😂
That's not a check engine light. It's the tire pressure light.
😅yep
That's not a gas peddle that's the break

But he is pressing on the brake not the gas
also showing low tire pressure light and not mil
The obd scanner is a tpms tool in which they are programming a tpms sensor with. And cvt transmissions do not shift gears.
Thank you for sharing this important information I have a faulty TCM on my 2007 Nissan Maxima SE I definitely will follow your instructions on trying to reset it. I wanted to ask you what can cause your TCM to go bad or that it needs to be reset?
Did you really take this seriously 😂

Does this work with a 2018? I can’t find any information about this car’s service information.
It actually worked for me
What about with a push start ignition
Right i was wondering the same cause that's what my model has
Press the button without the brake! Car won't start but will be on the on position
Is a 2005 Nissan Altima a CVT transmission?

He says cvt, meaning automatic transmission

This entire script word for word is copied off a website. the voice is AI generated that’s why it cannot pronounce NISSAN correctly.
04 Nissan Sentra
Im pressing the gas pedal but im not hearing a click??
How much does it cost to pronounce Nissan properly?
A customer called all
Mad after watching this. Said check engine light was on and transmission was going out. I finally got to look at car and told him he had a low tire. How can anybody don’t instructional videos. Not know what a TPMS indicator light is?????

It worked for my 2012 Nissan Juke as well
Mine Sentra doesn’t move it starts up and it goes in reverse because I see the reverse camera coming on and I put it in neutral and I can push it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help me out
Pretty sure nothing said here is true.
That boy showed a Tire pressure light and called it a check engine light for a Chevy impala lol
I need free things to try I'm just guessing onwhich chip am I will try
What if your Nissan is a push button instead of a key
Why are you stepping down on the brake pedal a nd calling it the gas pedal?
Does the TCM control the clutches?

Way too much talk about shifting gears for a cvt
🤣🤣🤣 all the pictures are wrong
Cvt trans dont shift
LOL I hope no one listens to this Freak he does not know a tire icon from a check engine light. the transmission shifter featured in the video is a manual transmission, not a CVT.
I want my 4m 43s back.
Reset didn't work. Says step on gas but shows a foot on the brake pedal. 😂
Mine is doing the same rn. I press the gas pedal but i dont hearing clicking?
Why wouldn't they design it so you could at least replace the belt without taking it all apart...
Money
Hard to take advice from someone that shows a manual trans when talking about an automatic.
but that its tpms light not engine😂 do you know what you explaning on this video??
And he can’t even pronounce “Nees-on”
As soon as I heard Nism but not Nissan!! I knew I shouldn’t have listened to this clown 🤡
