i'd forgotten how good the thrash from the TL11 on these Olympians was. EYMS (my local operator) bought 4 (LRC7 - 10 which became 543 - 546) from the operators of the 757 flightline service in 1987/8. 545 & 546 spent most of their time (when working) on the 121 hull scarborough route based at Driffield. hellfire, thanks for the memories.
I remember traveling on these when Maidstone & District ran them on the 101 Gillingham to Maidstone! Lovely coaches. Got a bit warm in the summer though.
My friend this is absolutely amazing if you can. If possible will you please try your best to do another one exactly like this one but a lot longer because those high rpm upshifting sounds are amazing stay safe man you make amazing content. Have a great one.
I remember these on the green line ,but not for long last time I saw an Olympian coach in west London it was painted in Jesus army livery in Acton ,they didn’t last too long ,saw the prototype in national express livery had a different dash panel to the main batch abit like the ECW coach and metrobus put a bus dash panel on one ,lined driving the Olympian leyland and Volvo
I believe these Olympians weren't very reliable on motorway work - I'm surprised the engine revs are relatively high for an Olympian. However, I love the sound and thrash of that TL11 engine :)!
They sound wonderful, but the TL11 didn't like being in Olympians. The only TL11 Olympian at Rossendale was always breaking down (Should have had the Cummins L10 rated at 250 bhp, and a ZF auto
+Alan Deutscher kungkimyeung: Same as Citybus #7 (EB1030, UK reg ADD50Y, the very first Olympian coach demonstrator, scrapped many years ago), this Olympian also uses Leyland's in-house TL11 engine and Hydracyclic 5-speed semi-automatic gearbox. TL11 engine has also powered the Leyland Constructor 24.26 truck, which is the type of oil tanker used by Shell... FF3170: I see, I never knew the name of that truck before. I guess 24 means 24 tons GVW, while 26 means 260 horsepower? kungkimyeung: Yes, 24 means 24 tons GVW, and it is 3-axle. There is a 4-axle version called 30.36, with Cummins engine.
Now, this is my ideal double deck coach..... absolutely stunning!!!

what a truly stunning vehicle
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I remember this beauty when it was with Northumbria
I used to drive these buses in late 1990s. Loved how they handled. Solid and fast for the time. Not like the rubbish i have to drive/fix nowadays.

Lovely vehicle and superb sound of the TL11 engine! There's no sound to compare with the 600/680/TL11.
Used to be apart of the northumbria motor services fleet number 365 great to see this still going

Really nice coach spec decker, I wish you had filmed the drivers cab!
Standard TL11 245s with the coach diff and gears go pretty well, former Rider 5507 could sit at 85 all day on the motorway
Drove these with Clydeside. 👍🏼
I drove them with Strathclyde/Kelvin

yes it's a beautiful bus when buses were buses not like the cheap rubbish we have today
Gear ratios seem close together for a coach...
No fifth gear ?
Couldn't keep the alternator belts on these when Northumbria had them. Would come off at high revs.

Ilave you leyland buses dubel deker baghdad

Can you explain trans that English please? I don't understand that, what you say it???
