My father and I had a security fencing business here in England before we had both retired and one guy we took on turned up late on the first day, on the second day we called to pick him up from his home on the way to a job, he was late getting out of bed, he was ok for the next couple of days but then called in sick on the Friday but was well enough for football practice by Friday evening. we had to let him go. Our government is in the process of creating an employment law that might allow employees to bring unfair dismissal claims from day 1, at the moment they cant make an unfair dismissal claim unless they have served their 2 year probationary period, I agree that 2 years is unfair, I would think 6-8 months would be fair to the employer and the employee, the thing is if an employer has an unfair dismissal case against them they have to employ a lawyer, the employee gets an advocate free of charge though, the government should stop the advocate service and make it no win no fee with a lawyer, that way ridiculous claims will be filtered out and save an employer a fortune in defending ridiculous claims, but this new totalitarian marxist government we have are crazy people and we expect the worse from them.
This is absurd to read and hear. Thank you for putting this info on here. We’ve had our fair share of cases, where individuals would’ve jumped at taking advantage of this law:(
Finally got around to mentioning it, but I've been watching C&C Equipments channel for a few years now and came across yours by chance since I like watching sawmills. About a month ago Clinton was going by the mill and said "there's Helmsburg sawmill" and I did a double take lol. So I'm here for the sawmill and also as a recommendation from Clinton.
@@Helmsburgsawmill Ive watched several channels, but yours is simple and one of the better in my opinion. I was already subscribed here for a while when he mentioned it so I thought it was cool. Small world. Keep up the cool vids!
We must be hiring out of the same labor pool. I have the exact same attendance issues with all my new hires in the last 4 years. 1 in 10 shows up on time and ready to work. (If you are early, you are on time. If you are on time, you're late. If you're late, its inexcusable.)
They don’t really reject any of it. At some point they can utilize every size piece because of how much those things are getting ripped down. We give grace on our bill for bad spots and waned off areas
Hey I don’t mind! I’m up in Canada, working in the auto repair industry. I do wood working on the side and I use the pallets that larger parts are shipped on because oak is VERY expensive in Western Canada! LOL!
Nice sawing 😊 Impressive chainsaw work 👍 Attendance problems are everywhere now. I work in a different field than you do and it's a big problem. I'm into work almost an hour early each day, and other workers drag themselves in with a minute to spare and act like they are doing everyone a favor by just showing up 🤬
And it comes from all sorts!! 18 years old, all the way up to 60🤦♂️ And ya I was hoping someone would appreciate that! Or comment about it in general😂 I could see that log wasn’t quite on the runner, and it fell through as you could see, and it was just wedged tight. We tried prying it out haha
I was wondering, could you possibly tell us what kind of log you are about to cut, what you are taking off the side and why and what size of a cant you have, maybe tell us why you were taking a one by off of this side for a certain order and then you’re taking a 2 inch for a another particular order and then you are cutting the rest up in 2 x 4, 2 x 6 2 x 8 etc. I think this sort of information would also help your subscriber list to grow. Take care stay safe and God bless.✌️🇨🇦
The sad thing is that the work ethic, or the lack of is ruining the workforce. More often as not people want something for nothing and complain when they have to work for it.

Good looking junk wood! Thank you for sharing another great video!
I appreciate that sir! It really did turn out nice:)
I enjoyed seeing those good sized logs sawn, thanks.
Oh you just wait:) they’ll be a 32 incher in the next video!
Wish I was there . Just beautiful ✊🏻🇦🇺
I’m trying to bring it to you!!
Amazing sawing ty
Impresionante precisión en cada corte, ¡la calidad del aserrado es de otro nivel!

Yes I saw it on his channel!! Thank you for checking it out and dropping a comment:) I plan on making videos for a while

Are the oak cants sold to different buyers than sycamore / poplar cants... or do they all get turned into pallets basically?
They all go to the same buyer and get turned into pallets! The species doesn’t matter with cants as long as it isn’t pine. They don’t want that
If you want to work you should be there on time, the problem is they really don't want to work. However another good video.

Some just don’t understand how it effects
*most
I deal with it every day at work too. No one thinks about how it affects everyone. Work ethic has changed a lot lately.
Great sawing video as always, where is the mill located from the old General store by the railroad tracks?
Directly across!
@@Helmsburgsawmill cool I know where it is after watching c&c video when he went to the metal shop he bought
How much wane is allowed on the pallet cants before the re-saw mill rejects them?

@@Helmsburgsawmill 👍
Talk to me about cants...
Dimensions, uses as raw stock for further processing. Value compared to 1 or 2 common ?
There will be more coming in the next video:) Cants get shipped off and re-sawn and turned into pallets
@@Helmsburgsawmill All Pallet stock? Some of those have clear wood on them still... WOW

Oh yes! More cants are coming today! Bigger logs too

Its hard to find good workers these days.
Lousy pay
Sure won't need that top saw today.
I sure did😂 just didn’t get it on video! Don’t worry, it’ll be getting used very first pass tomorrow morning
Never refer to your father as the old man. You might see it in private, but don’t put it on the Internet.
He gave himself that nickname😂
Proud to wear that name. Third generation. Thank you
