She really outshone everyone else in the movie by a mile. No wonder they gave Jasmine a song that wasn't in the original.
I think the song was planned before she was cast but yeah she did an amazing job!!!

Love this song! I got very excited when I heard she was going to be in this movie and have a song. She was in a Disney Channel Original Movie called Lemonade Mouth and sang incredibly in a song called She’s So Gone. I was kind of mindblown to hear that level of song quality in a TV movie, not that it was Grammy worthy or anything, I don’t impress easily. 😂 Still one of my favorites to randomly listen to (the studio version not just the dcom clip).

Speechless is the best song from the live action aladdin. Naomi absolutely smashes it, the movie version has more emotion so I prefer that version but Naomi still slays in this one

Yes! And IMO, you've got to do the "Menken-isms" to keep it a musical theater piece and not just a pop piece. And finding where to breathe.

I love this song so much and makes me upset it didn't get the recognition it deserves. Also, Naomi sang this song live on set while filming this scene, she was singing acapella while Alan menken was playing the piano in another room but only she could hear him in her ear, you should def watch the movie version on this song, you'd tell she was singing this live and made it so much better. That was pasek and Paul's idea since they did the same with Emma Stone for her audition song in la la land where she performed the song live on set acapella while justin Paul was playing piano in the other room.
There's also a deleted song between Jasmine and Aladdin dessert moon and is good 🤧😍❤🙏🏻

I know you do polls to decide what to react to but there is a cover of this that I strongly recommend you watch it’s a cover by a kpop star named siyeon she is from a group called Dreamcatcher and they are a rock based kpop group and she is their main vocalist her vocals are out of this world

The version of this song that is shown in the movie was sung live and all in one continuous shot. The other commenters are right. You really should react to all of the Lemonade Mouth songs. That movie is considered to be one of the best DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movie) of all time. Dinsey wrote some killer songs for that movie. Plus, all the actors can actually sing (for the most part). The Camp Rock movies had some really good songs too.
Naomi Scott has proven herself to be a very competent actress and singer... I saw her in Lemonade Mouth, I knew she could act, but this is first time I have heard her sing at this professional level. Lemonade Mouth was more Pop. I too would have loved to be in that recording session. That's how its done when you are at the top in your abilities and there is hundred million dollar budget. Need an Orchestra... no problem.
I love how you can deep dive into the music and the vocals. Naomi is laying down some awesome tracks for sure. Not often when the Lead in major re-make can also sing at that professional level.

I love this song and it's kicking my 47 year old, mezzo, haven't belted in forever butt.
I knew it wouldn't be easy b/c belting has never been my thing, (my belt has an unpleasant, sharp edge) but this is just such a powerful song, I had to work on it.
I love the first verse because of where it sits in my voice. Instead of making it lyrical, I wish Naomi had taken the 8th rest between the first "won't. go" . It really gives weight to the "go speechless".
Kicking up the consonants in the second verse, for me, turns up the intensity without increasing volume.
I am so impressed that Naomi gets through in one breath the phrase "I will take these broken wings and watch me burn across the sky". That entire last section is a breathing nightmare for me, even breathing at the rests.
I agree with you that she's vocally powerless at the end which is so sad because it's such a contradiction to everything she's just sung about.
Despite a few of her interpretations choices and vocal stress at the end, I still love this song and think she did it well.
It's a challenging song no doubt!

the first show i saw Naomi Scott was on a show called terra nova and i wish that had another season of it but it didnt that was made in 2011 i think i seen lemonade mouth after this tho and then power rangers and then Aladdin she has such a pretty voice

I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but you should really react to the song 'Found/Tonight' by Ben Platt and Lin Manuel Miranda. Even if you don't wanna react to it, you should just listen to it. It's a combo between the songs The Story Of Tonight from the musical Hamilton and You Will Be Found from the musical Dear Evan Hansen. I just thought the song and the vocals were breathtaking and they left me amazed and in chills.

LARA SULEIMAN was the girl who voiced Jasmine in the brazilian portuguese version of the film. She's also a musical theater actress (played Éponine in Le Mis here in Brazil too). BTW Naomi did perfectly! She made the song her own and did a great vocal performance in it, but for me, as a musical theater fan, the more you have that kind of vocal training the better for these type of roles. Still, she was chosen for a reson, make no mistake!

This is not a dig on Naomi Scott, but since the first time listening to this song I’m desperate to hear Lea Salonga sing this. Also by the first few chords you can clearly tell this is an Alan Menken song, and I just love that.

I feel that this song is a little on the nose, and really wasn’t necessary, but I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t listened to it at least once everyday for about a month after the movie came out. I know people might disagree with me on this, but apart from Will Smith, her performance kind of saved the movie.

Definitely watch the version in the Aladdin movie when you get a chance! She sang the first part of it live on set and the rest was pre-recorded but she gave it much more emotion. Currently, Disney has a way of over-compressing the rawness of their singers when mixing studio versions of songs. It’s really irritating. Dare I say, I have a feeling even Lea Salonga would sound underwhelming under the current production standards of Disney’s studio mixing.

You should watch the whole film if you can...I'm not a fan of Disney's live action versions of well loved classics, but Aladdin was incredible. Watching this song in the context of the film gives it more meaning. It had me sobbing in the cinema.
On a separate note, I wonder if you could listen to a young Spanish singer called Rosalía? If you haven't heard of her, she's well known in the urban/Latin scene but she has an incredible voice which is better shown off when she's singing more traditional Spanish music.
