I'm gonna start building one myself I have a farm I can build it on witch I'm gonna do but it won't stay there I plan on getting land back north to put the cabin on and finsh it but I'll build the basic cabin on the farm then take it apart in till I get my land. hope it turns out as good as yours.
wow I am so impressed with your cabin, you could tell so was your father. do you still have it? will you be posting a video of it finished, would love to see it, great job!
INSPIRATION OVERLOAD ON STEROIDS ALERT. Wow. I am so glad to see this video. THIS WAS AMAZING. It is so great to hear your father commending you like that. That was incredible. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS. This inspires me to be a hard worker. Wow. Bravo, man!!!!
Thats awesome the way he worked flat out on that to get it looking so great and then his dad supporting him along the way. He has done very very well. Congrats
What kind of wood did you use? Pine. Oak. Poplar or what? Was it better to use soft wood instead of hard? How about chinking, did you buy a mix? I watched the video, I can't remember if you add chinking in this one. Thanks for your help ep
I am surprised by how many of you here do not know his current saga---Don't you peeps understand how to look up other vids by this channel? You will learn a great deal as to the fate of this land and cabin.
I've often wondered how the floors are sealed from the elements. I see that this cabin is up on stilts. Does the wood underneath simply get painted, or is there another process for keeping the elements out.
I came to watch a log cabin building video, was highly impressed by your get it done attitude. One thing that has stuck with me since I watched it was how impressed your father was. I don't remember the exact words, but he makes one little comment during the video that basically screamed he was proud of you.
I looked up Sugar Grove Road, WV on Google Street View. The house you can see at 12:20 is painted red now, over 20 years later. Ain't technology great?
Ive been saving trying to make my way to the mountains to do just this. This is so inspiring. What an accomplishment in life, most people will never know or want to know what its like to build that with your own 2 hands. Amazing! Awesome job
That's wild. I did basically the same thing in Deep East Texas. Stayed in one of those pickup camper's while building and would look at log home magazine's at night. My mom and dad thought I was going to die building it at first. But in the end dad was staying out there with me wanting to help. The only thing I paid to have done was the upstairs carpet installed. Hell yes....it was A LOT of work.
ya know it still looks good,i built my own cabin up here in Fairbanks ,Alaska, and ya know it just feels good to make something for yourself, you did really good job , i like it.
I really enjoyed this. I'm starting to plan on doing this same thing but I've got lots of learning to do first. Mind if I ask the dimensions of yours? Looked like about 25 x 25. Thanks for posting this video!
Some of the cabins built more than a 100 years ago do have large chinking and they look amazing. It does seem though that generally nowadays we strive to minimize chinking. It would have been nice though if there was some video on how to do chinking when the space are so large, what to use and how to apply it to minimize cracking and maximize insulation.

Yes it was sad how they did my uncle.
@@3_Migos_travelI must agree.
How has the foundation held up over time? Have you run into any rot issues with the pylons embedded in concrete, which is not water tight? Very cool

Is say make a nice outdoor fireplace with the extra insert but this is from 91... Haha

I want to know how or what the pioneers used for a foundation and footing. Anybody can stack up logs till they are 9,000 feet tall

where you at now Ras ? lol
Out west
Be interesting to see what it looks like now 24 years later.
Richard clarke a veteran bought the property. He stated the cabin is doing wonderful. Different owners over the years have cared for it. Thanks!
Think it was 20 x 24, and thank you for the nice words. Peace bro!
Who doing all that Talking no work ?
Ummm, is this a parody? Isnt the point of notching to bring the logs as close together as possible to minimize chinking?
