French here! Honestly it's not that bad. Aside for the verbs and some inversion when it comes to grammar, a lot of words are similar and the sentence structure is usually the same. Now, a lot of French people don't speak English very well compared to the rest of the world, but I'd say a language like Japanese, Bulgarian or even Icelandic are much more difficult to learn if you are French.
its complicated when it comes to prononciation (for example I struggle with "r" as in the words "mirror" or "horror") but for the rest, english is an easy language to learn
