Wow interesting sales tactic of pissing off your potential customers, hahaha good luck with that. First off the Yamaha starters are beasts my starter switch once got gummed up and stuck in the on position while I was riding engaging my starter for around an hour before I noticed and surprisingly that starter is still working great. The reason I say this is if you push your starter button and nothing happens don't assume a bad starter it is more than likely one of the following: - bad electrical connections - a blown fuse - the starter relay - the kill switch. NOTE: When attempting to start the bike do it in neutral rather than in gear to eliminate the possibility of a gummed up kick stand switch Start by ensuring that your battery is sufficiently charged and that the connection to the starter is tight and corrosion free, trace the wire back to the starter relay ensuring that the wire itself isn't damaged. Next check all your fuses (don't forget the two on the starter relay). The starter relay on the Yamaha VStar looks like the second one shown in this video --> th-cam.com/video/vMW9DtvDTyE/w-d-xo.html. Next I would check your starter relay; if you don't have a multi-meter you can simply disconnect the two wires from the terminals on top of the relay then do everything you would when starting the bike and instead of pushing the ignition button touch the two wires together, this should activate your starter if all else is working properly, if so you'll want to replace that relay. If it doesn't then I would check your kill switch and ensure that is functioning correctly. You can do so by opening up the switch and manually bridging the connection, then try to start the bike as normal and if all else is working properly then this should activate the starter, if so you'll want to clean up the connections in the kill switch or replace it with a new one. Anyway I hope that despite these clowns wasting my time and yours, you may get at least some useful information here. Good luck and happy riding!
