Team canada made some bizarre decisions in 98, Messier and Niedermayer weren't picked. Lindros was named captain over veterans like Gretzky Bourque and Yzerman.
You're right, it was a great team for sure, however not great enough to surpass that Czech squad. Perhaps if different moves were made we'd have a different story....I guess every team that comes second (or loses a big match) asks those questions.
