I'm from Venezuela and this was my first FF, I played it pirated... I only bought the first cd to see the intro, I didn't expect to play it because I didn't understand it but after a while I understood it little by little and bought the remaining cds... I will always remember two things about this game, that I defeated Ifrit without Sheeva because I didn't know the Guardians Force existed (I found out about that some time later) and the second and most shocking thing is at the end of disc 3 in the battle against Seipher when I was about to start and Odin came out I thought wow how lucky... but no... Odin was chopped in half and that was shocking... ahh such beautiful memories, I'm already 46 years old.
I played it when i was a kid in the early 2000's but then when i played it again on the ps3 in 2015 my comprehension of things was a lot better than when i was a kid. I payed attention to the dialogue and discovered the twists and turns in the game. Rinoa being ultimecia from the future and much more
Meh… it’s good but not that great. I think FF7 98 had amazing music. Mako cannon ost and weapons ost always intensified the FMVs But birth of a god sound track/jenova ost/ and interrupted by fire works ost probably my favorite

I would love a remake like this but minus the absolutely deranged smiles. On a related note, Zell's model in this one would make a perfect starting point for Kefka in an FF6 remake.
The idea is fantastic, but the AI generation is painful. Yes, pretty pictures. But the music itself gives off uncanny valley vibes and AI has trouble with making characters too similar to each other and just flashes a lot of shots of them looking at the camera. I do love the concept, and I would love to see both 6 and 8 get some modern TLC; would be nice to see this trailer done with an animation studio though instead.
My first FF game was 8. Took me months to beat unlike todays games where you can beat it in two weeks. This had one of the greatest storylines, soundtrack, and characters.
If you want longer games, you're playing the wrong ones. Your gaming abilities have also likely increased a significant amount since FFVIII, thus games are easier for you to complete than they were back then.
They took the hair from ffxv, which makes the supposed ai look lazy it tried to blend newer tech based images but duplicated aspects instead of maintaining style and color palates

We need FF8 Remake after the 7 Trilogy. 6, 8 and 9 sould get a Remake. 9 because it is more a "Disney Fantasy" could be on the Level of Crisis Core Reunion. 6 and 8 need the Quality of 7.
Alot of FFs deserved a remake tbh. First FF not only deserves an actual remake, but a fleshed out story that tells us exactly how it went down. For example, who are the 4 heroes and the origins of Warrior of Light. FF2 deserves a fleshed out story as well that gives us the deeper details who are the characters. FF3 should follow based from the DS version remake, and have Onion Knight as the strongest class to have instead. FF4 remake would be nice for us to learn more about Cecil how he became the Black Knight. FF5 is good so a remake version would be good. FF6 would be awesome to have as a remake, as well as the concept of having more than 4 people in the party at some scenes (you’ll still get 4 by default, in some scenes it’d be more than 4).
Lets all sign a petition. A remake of this caliber would no doubt break records in sales world wide. The most hated game , would become the most precious gem in all ff games.

as a 3D artist working at game company in JP, that squall image definitely has "main character" vibe for JRPG. I think I'll try to make the 3D version with this image as reference if I have time, for some reason I feel like his face design can blend in with JP art style

Final Fantasy 8 is true noir/sci-fi. This game was far ahead of its time. Even all of these years later, it uniquely stands out. The story, the setting, the characters, the music...whether you liked it or not, you cannot say that there is a single entry in the series that is anything like it. 8 is the first final fantasy that I ever played as a young boy and it took me years to beat. I was far too young to understand the junction system or the mechanics, and so it would take me weeks (or longer) to beat a single boss. Now when I revisit, i even love the junction system! It's awesome to be able to boost stats without immense grinding. Plus there is so much customization available. Not to mention, this is the first time I ever saw paradoxical/non-linear storytelling employed in a game. I remember being so blown away by each chapter of the story and honestly I still am to this day. I feel we will never get a remake for it, FF8 will always live in the shadow of FF7 which I won't ever understand because I've always thought it is far more interesting. All of that being said, if this game came out tomorrow and it costed 500 dollars, I would buy 2 copies.

It's one of the worst, if not the worst, FF game. It sold that much copies because it rode the coat tails of FF7's popularity. I'd like to see a remake though, because it's still an FF, and by that time the trash storyline might have improved.

If Final Fantasy VIII’s Junction system just got the polish and the tweaking treatment that XII got with its Zodiac system, it would be a Top 3 FF. I mean, it already is for me, but I get why some people avoid it. But the music, the world, characters, crazy-but-excellent story are all top notch. Just fix the battle system.

People obsessed over Tifa when I was younger. I felt Quistis deserved just as much if not more recognition.

Not to mention, this is the first time I ever saw paradoxical/non-linear storytelling employed in a game. I remember being so blown away by each chapter of the story and honestly I still am to this day. I feel we will never get a remake for it, FF8 will always live in the shadow of FF7 which I won't ever understand because I've always thought it is far more interesting. All of that being said, if this game came out tomorrow and it costed 500 dollars, I would buy 2 copies.

FF8 has great visuals and a decent plot, but I don't see how it could be a serious contender as one of the Top 5 FF titles.

It's one of the worst, if not the worst, FF game. It sold that much copies because it rode the coat tails of FF7's popularity.
I'd like to see a remake though, because it's still an FF, and by that time the trash storyline might have improved.

I like all Final Fantasy games. But Final Fantasy 8 is the one that leave a mark in me. It's the first Final Fantasy game I played. I love the soundtrack in Final Fantasy 8. Hearing it now would take me into the past, the first time I played this game.
FF8 was my first too. I'll never forget going over to a friend's house and seeing the final battle with Griever and thinking, "What is this?!"

If Final Fantasy VIII’s Junction system just got the polish and the tweaking treatment that XII got with its Zodiac system, it would be a Top 3 FF. I mean, it already is for me, but I get why some people avoid it. But the music, the world, characters, crazy-but-excellent story are all top notch. Just fix the battle system.

I love this game but collecting 100x pices of 1 spell is not what i want to see in remake 😅 Rest junction system, gfs is good. Add mana points like in ff7 remake resolve this problem.
