Back around New Years, I spent a few weeks living back at my childhood home enjoying time with my family. I was watching my way through CrackTheSky's "Best of 2022" AMV list and this was (deservedly!) on it. My mom decided to she wanted to watch one of the videos with me, and this happened to be the next one on the list. She was silent the whole way through. When the video was over, she turned to me with tears in her eyes and said "That was *really* good". My mother doesn't often open up about her feelings to us, but she connected so much with your video. In 2006, her father (my grandfather) passed away. It's been many years, but to this day she still feels his presence in her life, like an afterimage of his love. Nothing supernatural, but the impact her father had on her didn't die with him, and is a daily comfort. I'm glad we happened to run into this video together and spent several minutes discussing it - I don't think my mother would have otherwise found the opportunity to share something on her heart like this normally. It's a beautiful video and I just wanted to chime in late and thank you for it.
What a flawlessly executed video! Your scene choice, your timing, the effects and transitions you chose to employ...all so well done. You really nailed the emotional pain and overwhelming love Tohru feels for her mom. I Felt That. Big kudos!
This absolutely WRECKED me 😭😭😭 phenomenal editing!!! The scene choices were so good and poignant and cleverly placed it felt like Tohru's grief was seeping from my screen and wrapping a hand around my heart. Directly to my favorites
Oh my heart! You told a story so beautifully with this AMV, your transitions and pacing are really well done! There's tons of Fruba AMVs about Tohru and the Somas, but I'm so happy to have found this lovely gem highlighting the mother/daughter story of this anime. Well earned sub, looking forward to more :)
There she is officer! The woman who ripped out my heart!!!!
