Thanks for mentioning my hometown, Simon! In case anyone's interested, that game took place on June 2, 1883, when the Quincy Quincys (now the Quincy Gems from Quincy, Illinois) played an all-star team of Fort Wayne college players. It is widely accepted as the very first night game involving a professional team. Fort Wayne has another claim to baseball fame. The WWII Women's Professional League team, the Fort Wayne Daisies, and its team members were the inspiration for the movie _A League of Their Own_ .
For anybody who, like me, was curious, two years earlier,( 14th October 1878) at the Bramall Lane ground, Sheffield the first football game took place under floodlights. It was also the ground at which the first football tournament final was played, The Youdan Cup (1867).
Fun fact: Jordans furniture in Avon Massachusetts, not associated with Jordan Marsh and about a 30 minute drive from downtown Boston, every year from about Thanksgiving to New Year's sells the blueberry muffins that Jordan Marsh was known for. They've been doing this every year since Jordan Marsh was bought by Macy's. Also could someone give further clarification on where Strawberry Field was in Hull, Ma? I live not too far from there and wouldn't mind checking the area for myself.
Currently (pun unintended) reading authorized biography of Thomas Edison, which never mentions this event (not his patent, so no surprise). Fun to hear about the competing design of the dynamo and the clever marketing of baseball games. Great video effects the crackly film look btw.

I tend to forget how amazing that kind of lighting must have been back then. Great video, thank you!

I've heard it also had the opposite problem: Lights were so bright, it was blinding and had to be turned down to see properly.
Wrigley Field, the home of the Chicago Cubs, didn't get lights until 1988. It was the last major-league ballpark to be limited to daylight-only games.
Thanks great channel.
Thanks folks, that was a bit of trivia I'd never heard about. Although, I have heard of Strawberry Hill.
"They found their thrilll ,on Straw-berry hilllll" ( Sorry, couldn't resist😉)

I am from Fort Wayne, IN. Could you do a video on Gen. Anthony Wayne for whom my city is named?
Well played.
On a separate note, what’s up with the knot of electrical wires in the upper left corner on your shelf?
See time 4:30.
Top ten things Edison actually invented and didn't steal from someone else (are there even ten?)

Strawberry Hill is a tasty fruit infused port. Inexpensive which would make it even more reason to get as many bottles as possible! So drink up.
constipated in sin city good one.
Simon, did you know that the little rhythm played as your intro is basic salsa rhythm? Well today you found out.
Don't worry. The green new deal will put a stop to this madness!
