That ending started something special right here! That's my Boys right there. In My Bed was the first video I heard. I thought it was Jodeci, So I ran downstairs to look, then saw this group and a kid with the golden hair! My Sister said "he looks like you" then my Mum said, "go and get your hair done. My treat!" Next day? I was in the salon. Boom! From that point, everybody just started calling me Sisqo! I found it very difficult to answer to Leon. I got my Sisqo tattoos, I was getting admission into clubs and random people were singing to me on the street. If I went into a bar, the tender would say "Tell Me What You Want" or something like that. It was crazy! And of course, girls wanted to talk to me... but the best bit of it all... I couldn't sing lol. And we all know that monster vocal is a distinctive sound to replicate authentically! So, I used to mime an acapella of Tell Me. Secretly stored in my pocket, was a portable CD player with a little speaker. You know those days, nobody had a phone like we do today lol. I did have a Pager though lol... I soon learned that if I tried to dance with the miming? the CD would skip! Good times... good times. One of the best parts was arriving at the Airport around 3am in Florida. The security guard thought I was Sisqo, as I was wearing a velvet hat like the one he wore in Mya's 'All About Me' video. He just let me walk straight through, no searching even though it bleeped. I believe that was the jewelry I was wearing at the time. Sisqo gave me the confidence of being the shorter guy in school. Although I am short, believing I had that powerful vocal made me feel on top of the world. Man, I even had this girl ask me out. She was like "Size doesn't matter" I agreed with her. She accepted me at only 5'6" and I accepted her at 6'4" Yes, her feet were bigger than mine, and she would pick me up, sit me on a wall just to kiss me... it was freaky, but it was all good! Thank you, Dru Hill and Sisqo. What you have done for us, what you brought to the table and continue to bring to this day! The beauty is that we can all share this Dru movement, we all have that thing that connects us, and touches our soul... I guess that's why it's called soul music. Soulful of Gratitude right now. I was today years old when I found out Nokio sang the whole background vocals on Beauty. I always thought he was the songwriter/producer of the group (like DeVante was for Jodeci). Been following this group since Tell Me, and I never heard Nokio sing lead on any of their songs. If his vocals are that smooth, he should do some lead vocals. Beauty is my favorite Dru Hill song too, so it's cool to hear that Sisqo feels the same way.
