That's where I first saw Kandinsky: at the Guggenheim. I hadn't even heard of him before that, being a right Philistine. I had only just arrived in New York on a sunny Sunday for a short business trip more than 30 years ago. Went for a stroll through Central Park and decided to pop into the Guggenheim (something else I'd never heard of. I know, I know) as it looked like such an interesting building. I took in an Ellsworth Kelly exhibition (very interesting) and then fell across the Kandinskys. Wow. One of those days that stays with you forever. Changed my whole outlook on painting and art and life.

So happy for you - I still remember standing in front of possibly my first Kandinsky in London, late 90s at the barbican centre, Russian masters, (I think) - art on the weekend was a regular pastime with friends 4:41 - but I was actually entranced somehow - not sure I’d call it spiritual but it was the start of a great love for me that’s for sure 🥰

ONG, MALAYSIA : Kandinsky's Art starts with the canvas as a dot that will pulsate, stretch, transform and give life and energy to the visible and invisible things that touch the body , mind and soul with stories to tell amg layers to explore. The music, the rhythme, religion, the sciences, the humanities, mathematical buoyancy will merge in and out of the canvas.

Some have the ability to "see" outside the box. Interlace with emotion, and presto ! we have distortions and surreal imagery. It is perception, that when sincere and truthful, can be alarming and, sometimes, quiet disturbing. gd. Yorkshire, England.

Art is part of life for life is larger than Art but if we reach a point that can be streched into many elements with powerful imagination reaching perception and finally the truth. Then Art is Life and Life is Art? So the dividing line between a genius and a moron is pretty very fine. To see Art to the fullest,we must also use the sixth sense. Art is puzzling, perplexing and complicated for there many breaking points. We musy explore. ONG,

I’m conflicted - I can gaze at any Kandinsky work all day, & there’s some really nice cinematography mixed in, even some of the music (sounds like The Bulgarian Voices choir?) is pleasant if misplaced; but the narrator & the words chosen.....some of it is insufferable :/

I much prefer Kandinsky's later works. There i can feel the music, the harmony, the space. His earlier works, for me are too much, overdone, like he is trying too hard. But this is the creative process, 1st apparent chaos, & eventually arriving at clarity and beauty.

Art museums and wealthy patrons are the only ones pushing this crap...using BIG WORDS/CONCEPTS to try to make it more than what it is...the artist’s form of personal therapy.
