    Need a bagless empty bin, last thing I want to do is spend extra every month or two when I'm already spending hundreds.. also I really dislike the idea that the bags may become unavailable in a couple years when the company stops providing support for that product, which is always a possibility.

    Honestly the cotton ball test is not a great measure in my opinion. Cotton clumps and sticks together like velcro yet allows air to move through it. I think a more accurate test would be to have the bins full of different types of things at the same time. It probably better simulates a real world scenario. I do enjoy these tests though. I just got a T8+ and will be setting it up tonight so I'm happy to see it do so well.

    • @AdamsReviews
      @AdamsReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@AdamsReviews cotton ball test seems closer to the realworld pet hair issue. i have more and more trouble with my roborock 7svmax ultra failing to suck out wads of husky hair. getting really tired of wasting bags in the bin - every time i have to go through the motions of cleaning it all out i end up having to replace the bag a 2nd time before it will work. poor robot to bin suck design as it doesnt have its own port to get to the bin like roombas do. Not to mention the excessive cost. Does mop pretty good tho. Used to have the i7 roomba but it liked to eat the edges of a persian rug and not pick up hair as well.

    I’m in the uk so our selection of robot vacs isn’t great. Which would you recommend the roborock S5 max or iRobot i7 we have a cat. Would love the deebot t8 but that’s not available here. Thank you

    • @julianfp1952
      @julianfp1952 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Leigh Barrett - I'm also in the UK. Ecovacs have said worldwide rollout of T8 is happening by the end of this year so I strongly suspect that we will see T8 in the UK by the end of the year (on Amazon - Ecovacs have an official Amazon shop on the UK Amazon site). If you're in a hurry though you can get one now because Amazon.de is listing all the T8 stuff including bin, e.g. here - www.amazon.de/-/en/ECOVACS-Suction-Automatic-Extraction-Station/dp/B08HRNZ89H
      The Amazon Germany site ships to the UK and if I ordered now it's quoting me a delivery date of tomorrow. You don't need to worry about voltages (you would for instance if getting one from the USA) and the power to the auto-empty dock is just a standard cable (not sure if it's a 3-pin one like a kettle of a 2-pin one like many TVs or laptop chargers) so if you don't want to be messing about cutting off a German plug and replacing it with a UK one just buy a standard UK lead from Amazon UK or ebay or probably even a Robert Dyas store (or Homebase, B&Q, etc, etc, etc) to plug the dock into the wall. I did that anyway with my UK i7+ (soon to be replaced by a T8) because I wanted a white power cable running to the dock because that blends in better with my decor than the black one that the Roomba ships with so I went and bought a replacement 3m white cable on Amazon for about £8.

    I have a T8 (not AIVI) and it maps great for me. Even i was confused, worried if the mapping will be alright. But took a chance, and it works great. To confirm this, i even deleted the map and tried again. It works all the time. It might be because of the firmware update i received as soon as i got product (last week) Only issue i found with mapping is, it doesn't add new rooms to the map as it discovers.
    And also the T8 avoids obstacles without issues any issues for me (wires, rolling chairs, socks ...). So if you dont need the camera, better get the T8, its cheaper and you can spend the remaining cash on either the auto bin or the pro mop. If you want me to take a video,i can do that too.

      the Shark IQ [45 day capacity, the AV1010AE] was $319 yesterday on prime day, i ordered one. [it's normally $600 and it's price history has it as low as $475 before yesterday]; i think this channels only complaint about the shark IQ is that it doesn't have a sensor when it's full and know when to empty itself, but it will auto empty every 30 minutes; most of us aren't gonna be running it in the garage or somewhere it would fill up it's bin in 5 minutes, most be using it day to day to clean while we're gone/etc, in which case the bin sensor doesn't matter

    Great test but this video really would be best watched with a bowl of snacks. It was OK once you got to the cotton balls but I was getting pretty hungry watching the rest of it - you were really killing me with the jelly beans.
    Overall I'd say it looked really close with s9 & T8 fighting for first place and I'd personally probably give the win to the T8 if pushed. The T8 double exit ports is a great idea but it's a shame they couldn't have made them just a tiny bit bigger. I'm guessing even 10% more surface area on each opening would have let it ace the cotton ball test as well. Also I think the T8 bin runs a bit quieter but longer than the i7 & s9 bins. Is that right? That makes me wonder if the suction on the T8 bin is slightly less but it keeps the suction running for longer. I wonder if performance would improve if Ecovacs decided it was OK to make it as loud as the Roomba stations so that it could increase suction (motor power). That would probably make T8 performance even better too.

    • @meetyounever6923
      @meetyounever6923 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It appears that way to me too. I think we might be judging the T8 a little roughly, it's not every day that you vacuum up strictly cotton. It seems like other dibree would held push the cotton through. I've seen mine suck up a random small piece of fabric laying 4 inches away on the ground while the dust bin was emptying.

    I am considering buying the T8 Aivi... My one concern is the mapping which I have seen a number of people mention in other reviews as having issues with maps going out of whack and the vac getting lost or not being able to get back to the base station. Doesn't seem to be known why or how to fix. Has anyone had any experience with this problem or know why causes it and whether it is fixible? Seems strange as they market it as being 4x more accurate at mapping.... Don't want to buy it only to find out that something about my house is going to cause the vac to not map properly and get lost all the time... And thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks for letting me know but somehow on mine I don’t see any button after it has mapped the first floor , I contacted support and they said only the aivi has that feature ,that’s y I couldn’t figure out how you had done it in the video , keep up the good work 👍

      @@paulalbuquerque6297 The T8 with the 3D sensor doesn't have the manual emptying button yet. It can only auto empty for now. Only the AIVI has it for the time being. I asked Ecovacs about this and they said they will add this to the T8 3D soon.

      Adam doesn’t like the Shark IQ, so that’s why it isn’t here. He actually retested with the smaller bin and he returned that, then he bought the Iq without it and hates it, too.

    I can't speak for the rest, but our brand new i3+ was crap right out of the box and its going back. It did nothing resembling vacuuming the floor. It did wind up small clusters of pet hair in organized piles behind where it had traveled. We never even got as far as our carpeted areas with it. It had too many error codes before we got to see it work in the bedrooms. For the price of this thing, even on sale, this was a pathetic showing.
    Again, I can't speak for the other vacs being reviewed here, but i3+ is a stinker.

      Mark....We bought our i3+ a couple days ago and we are very impressed with it. Cleans very well. Empties everything out of bin. No errors at all. We have no complaints. Maybe you got a bad one.

      @@markbrowning4334 Yeah I hear ya. Sucks paying so much coin for something that should work right. Have you noticed this seems to be happening a lot lately with quite a few products. That's why I try and get items where the returns are no hassle.
