Lucy Lawless's chemistry with Renee O'Connor was one of the things that made Xena work. Gabrielle joined Xena on her adventures because she aspired to be a warrior and she was there to learn from Xena and Gabrielle was also there to keep Xena on the straight path.
Gabrielle chose her own destiny, traveling and exploring to parts unknown alone or with Xena. Being a wife and mother was not in Gabby's future, so instead she decided to be an itinerant traveler, along with her close companion Xena. Eventually Gabrielle will give birth to Hope, which in itself offered both a reward and challenge to both Gabby and Xena. Both Amazon warriors stood by each other through thick and thin, even in death. Gabby is one of a kind, and only Renee O'Connor could portray her so well. Xena was fortunate to have a friend like Gabrielle.
Wow! This one’s fantastic! Captures the idiosyncrasies of Gabrielle as well as her queerness. The little things we love about her like her compassion for those not like her and her ability to see the good in all people before judging them. Putting the health and wellbeing of others first before herself even when it leads to so much pain. That’s Gabrielle. That’s my gorgeous brave lil baby gay of a flawed but loveable female character with still the greatest character development and evolution that I’ve ever seen in TV art/entertainment. One of the most exhilarating things in watching this show is watching this girl grow. Specifically how she grows and what she does with that growth. Riveting. She’s really not like everybody else. I love her for it.
