I remember when this first hit the ‘auto airwaves’. The guy had 4 winged cars - 2 Daytonas + 2 Superbirds. He got two of them out - a hemi Daytona and a hemi Superbird. Two remained on lifts in his condo and were 440-c.i. motors so at least he saved the more valuable ones. He sold both cars to guys who are having them restored. Please reply with clarifications or corrections if I reported anything incorrectly.
I had to share a quick story with you. In 1981 I was living in Houston when I'd found this car's twin. 440 6 barrel, 4 speed, super track pack, Superbird. Same color, same interior. All for $3500!!! It had some nose damage & my buddy that went with me talked me out of it!! I think about the time & work AND COST that went into this car & I want to scream!!
I had a buddy his dad almost bought one of these brand new and my buddy remembers going with him to the dealership to look at it. He was 10 years old at the time. He was looking at one same color as this Superbird and a 440 4 barrel bucket seats and automatic transmission with center console and he backed out of buying it at the least minute and went with a Roadrunner the same color. But the Roadrunner was like $1,000 dollars cheaper than the Superbird new.
@plymouthduster225 I was 15 when there were new on the lot. I can't remember exactly how much the Superbirds were back then, but I do remember that an entry level 383 bare bones Roadrunner could be had for under $3k!! A lot of smiling HS kids back then!!👍
@plymouthduster225 I'm sure they were! I know a lot of them sat on lots for a long time! Some even were converted back into regular Roadrunners because they couldn't sell them! Too radical for the time! Who knew?
@roywhitman7109 yeah I read an article in mopar muscle magazine about one the same color combo of the one in this video and it was a 440 4 barrel with a bench seat and column shift automatic and it was still sitting on the dealership lot in 1974 and the guy who managed the dealership gave it to his son when he wrecked his car just to get rid on it and he drove it for like a year and hit a deer with it and parked it 1975. It's restored now. It's only got like 8,300 original miles.
A member of our Mopar club picked up a Vitamin C 440 6 bbl column shift Superbird from the original owner's family here on Long Island. It's amazing to see these cars and learn about their history.
Morning Ryan! Good seeing you yesterday. What's up with your camera? Both last weeks video and this one look sort of washed out or overexposed. The bird looks almost butterscotch color in this video!

The story I heard was that the owner had 4 wing cars in his garage. This one and a Daytona were up on lifts, and he moved the 2 parked on the floor to safe ground before the storm hit thinking the 2 cars on lifts would be high enough in the air that they’d be safe if a storm surge hit. He was wrong! The surge was 9 feet high and blasted the 2 cars out of the garage as you see in the pictures.
Amazing how it was transformed
A great looking piece of rolling history. More than just another old car
I look forward to the final product reveal!!!
This looks like something that you would have seen at the Creative Industries building early 1970 😊😊😊
You got that right.
The Superbird turned out very nice...and the 70' Charger and 68' Coronet are very nice also...good content and thanks....🔧🔧👍
Thanks 👍
That '70 Hemi Charger grill is absolutely beautiful! Magnum does excellent work! ❤

Such a cool story! Well done!!
Spectacular series!
Thank you!

@roywhitman7109 I'm not positive on this but I think that they were over $4,000 brand new. I think not positive about that.

Being in direct light like this with my cell phone will do that. I tried my gopro but my gimbal wouldn't hold it.
Ballpark, about how much is this type restoration?
What's the "we" stuff?

This time the guy thought "oh it probably won't happen. it's probably won't. oh shit! it's happening!"
It turned, it wasn't suppose to hit them.

There was more to that, I go through it in earlier videos. But at least everyone is fine and the cars are getting redone.
That is looking really perdy!
Do they do Fords ?
Yes they do.
