    Wow, I was a draftsman, I used physical photos in 1999 for measuring a two stories building! I had no access to a total survey station or even a digital camera, I used my old drawing board, sticked the photos and draw fuge points and auxiliary lines, all by hand. After that I used a very primitive digital camera (lended one) that used diskettes 😅 to do the same thing on AutoCAD for my graduation project, drawing details too intricate to measure directly. But copying a key... you're Kung fu is the best 😸❤️🔑🗝️

    Hi Naomi, I have a challenge for you. In the Cairo museum in Egypt there is an ancient artifact called the Lotus Disc. It is a weird shaped disc made of stone. Egyptologist say it was a vase but it clearly was designed for spinning. The challenge is for you to recreate the disc using 3d printing, then spin it at different speeds with smoke added to see the pattern. Also, you can spin it in water to see what it does. You might just solve the big mystery of what the disc was and possibly unlock an ancient technology, which had been lost to our society for over 3,000 years. Cheers!

    • @PathosBedlam
      @PathosBedlam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      AKA the Schist Disk. Yes that would be interesting for sure. I'm sure a lot of amateur archeologists would love to see what that thing can actually do if spun up in fluid. Myself included.

    • @Wilsignu
      @Wilsignu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PathosBedlam The limits of our rotatory achievements are governed by friction. Metals, plastics etc. require lubrication to prevent friction, before seizure eventually takes place. If this disc is made of granite, I have wondered if it could spin beyond super sonic speed, without lubricants and could it take on a gyroscopic motion, creating weightlessness. My initial idea of what the disc was used for was to mix polymers, which had been plastered over all the walls and pillars around Egypt, before the hieroglyphs were added. Some have even suggested that the disc was just a tool, used to braid rope, and I have to admit, that's a pretty good theory, as their has indeed been ancient rope found in Egypt.

    I’m curious as to the fitting the tools use; specifically is it proprietary or something with an ecosystem of potential parts already available?
    Also, when it checks the tool length can it be set to halt and/or alert if the tool is significantly out of spec from what’s expected (i.e. if the tool breaks or someone accidentally loads the wrong one into the changer)?

    I like the form factor and the table construction using precision rails. The tool changer with it's auto probe touch off feature is a nice feature also. I own a Swiss Turco CNC mill that I converted to run from Turbo CNC decades ago. It's limited by travel and tool size. Yours has more travel but the small tooling is restricting. I have a small chuck like yours and hate it. Almost impossible to get things tight enough in a lathe application but for very light stuff like keys in a 4th axis I guess it would get by.
    What would I consider a minimum for a machine like yours? The ability to hold up to 1/2" end mills. A high RPM spindle speed to run smaller tooling at proper cutting speeds for aluminum. A proper key operated chuck on that 4th axis. And add a port for plugging in a touch probe so you can use the machine for scanning objects. That controller looks so small I'm guessing it's GRBL running on a micro processor so it may not be capable of doing much scanning, file saving and editing. If so, the whole thing could be replaced with a cheap touch screen tablet running windows and GRBL. It's probably stepper motor based to save costs but I'd like to see more of these companies develop small servo closed loop systems like the ones used on my Carvewright machines. The motors are small and should be even cheaper to make than the stepper motors but provide faster rapids and being closed loop they don't loose position like steppers do during long programs.

    • @oolong2
      @oolong2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

My roommate showed me how to take the lock apart, get a key blank, then file the blank with a triangular file until all the slots lined up correctly. This was on a 1960 Austin Healey Bug Eye sprite which has/had a very open dash and lock and no real security as it is a rag top with no locks on the doors! LOL.

      @@mmmlinux It was the only car I have owned that did not have door locks. It had an ignition system lock that was bypassed when I bought it. It was a convertible with a rag, (canvas) top so locks on the doors are kind of pointless. The side windows were held on by two big knurled bolts that screwed into the doors. The top and the windows were to keep the rain out. To enter the car when the top and windows were up and on, you slid the sideways sliding plexiglass movable section of the window forward to reach into the inside door handle and unlatch it. I was young and it was my first car I ever bought and owned by myself without my parents providing a vehicle. I guess I could be making all this up but I can only say I am not.

    There is good and bad in this video. Naomi is good. She is good looking, fun to watch, and teaches us things. All this is good.
    As for the bad I have to question how many new thieves there are out there now. That are going to take a crash coarse in B & E's.
    Guess I had better go do some close quarters combat training with my 870. Just to be ready. As for lock picking. A 4 pound hammer makes a good universal key.

    Here in Albuquerque New Mexico, I only knew one other computer programmer, he was Russian, I'm alone and need you, I am American, but the Spanish Aztecs are not familiar of this computer, so my mind is from elsewhere

    can you spell the lock pick guys name. Ive wanted to research him, but haven't had any luck. I'm a locksmith and we use his tools all the time. But we call them lishi's (lee- shees) But haven't had much luck finding anything on the creator. Just want to know more about him. Thanks

    Somehow, I didn't pay any attention to the machine, there were a couple of things that kept distracting me from looking anywhere else...🤔

    You should tell Lishi to make that hand key cutting tool with the proper angle for Kwikset and Schlage, which are both different. They would sell more, no doubt. Kwikset is 90 deg with .084 tip width. Schlage is 100 deg with .031 tip width. Most people don't want to spend stupid money just to make simple key.

      They make two angles, but but both are intended for thin sheet metal keys for cars. It's not really for this...
