Thanks for such an amazing story of what once was. Or what could’ve been!

Visited it a few years ago on a lovely summer day and got the feeling it had seen both happy and sad times, more Manor House than castle and very well preserved.

We got that feeling too. Certainly one of the most interesting places we’ve been.

It is a lovely place. I guess a lot can happen in 56 years! 😊

Good to see pictures of Aydon Castle. I visited over 30 years ago when l lived on Tyneside. As far as l know it is the best preserved fortified manor house in the country. Unfortunately the voiceover tells you next to nothing about it as a structure. We hear the story of the man who built it but this is completely unrelated to the pictures. Why you would make a film about a building and then say nothing about it is a bit beyond me.

Merely that we find the stories of the people who occupied a place more interesting than details of the structure as do many of our subscribers. But each to his own eh? 😊

@@goodforthesoul3050 You are so wrong. A few years ago a whole tv series was made about the modern day construction of a fortified medieval manor house in France. It’s a fallacy to think all story telling is about people. A good example is all the tv programmes about how things are made. People are very interested in how things are not just made but how they function. I have seen other You Tube channels with more views than yours doing exactly that. The truth is you have no idea about what you are presenting and are too lazy to find out.

@@jontalbot1 that’s a hell of an assumption Jon, that we are “too lazy”. As I said, we just find people and their stories more interesting. Not everyone can be interested in the same things and we’d rather make videos about things that interest and excite us. I can assure you we are far from lazy. It’s great that you are interested in how things are made. I’m sure, as you’ve said, there are plenty of channels for you to subscribe to. We enjoy making our videos and others enjoy watching them.

@@goodforthesoul3050 The point is there is a complete disconnect between what you are saying and what you are showing. You might have said something about it, if even if only to say it’s one of the best preserved walled medieval manor houses in the country. You could have said something about how people lived and related that to the structure for heavens sake. It’s not a difficult thing to do. You called the video Aydon Castle, which is what drew me to it. Instead of being defensive, why don’t you reflect that maybe you could have a better job?

    • @goodforthesoul3050

@@jontalbot1 thanks for the critique Jon. We make TH-cam videos for a hobby. We don’t get paid. We aren’t trained documentary makers and we make them to please ourselves. If other people enjoy them too then that is certainly an added bonus. We are pleased that more people seem to like than to not like. Aydon Castle was actually the first narrated video we had ever made and we like to think we have improved since. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it. We will continue, meanwhile, to film and research what we enjoy and find particularly interesting and make videos in our own way.

Well...good photography, totally inappropriate sci fi music which, a lot of times, drowned out the narrator and last but not least, poor font choice for later captions making it hard to read...
