I'm a introvert. That's why I am a online graduate student, freelance writer and I am also going to working as a software engineer soon and computer programmer consultant. Although I am shy, I am not boring. I am married with a daughter, I like listening to music and singing, I like watching movies, and I like going out for coffee and dinner, lunch or breakfast. I'm also a Christian so I like to pray and go to church online or in person.

I used to be a trucker. I'm definitely an introvert, but damn I was lonely haha. I've gone days without talking to anyone at all aside from a shipper or receiver. It pays well, but the long hours driving all day(or all night) was exhausting. Working 70hrs every week was exhausting. You see a lot on the road and you get close calls on a weekly basis. You get cut off every day which is stressful when you're fully loaded to 80,000lbs. It's not for everyone. Shippers and receivers are rude. Finding parking at night is hard. I recommend a local trucking job where you're home daily to anyone looking to get into trucking. Still a tiresome repetitive job where you're looking at the road a lot. To keep it as least boring as possible, I listened to a lot of podcasts, informative TH-cam videos (the audio of it..), and would occasionally talk on the phone (with a Bluetooth headset) when traffic is light.

As a Paralegal I can tell you it's not for introverts. You have a lot of interaction with the attorneys at the law firm, their personal paralegals, other paralegals, file clerks, legal assistants, and my least favorite THE CLIENTS. And there are a whole lot of people I didn't mention. Best case scenario you can work for a sole practitioner. They usually share work space with other sole practitioners but you don't have to interact with them, also don't do them any favor no matter how small otherwise they wanna use you for free labor.

Sadly, a lot of careers that are typically introverted, are not recognised as such by larger companies. E.g. I'm a construction estimator, which really requires a lot of focus and concentration, but the company I work for has me working in an open area with 4 other estimators close to a busy office entrance. Plus others come over regularly and interrupt us, without even asking whether we are busy...plus we have constant unnecessary meetings about stupid stuff...like 'teambuilding' nonsense..making us play silly games, etc. Us estimators are quiet people who just want to be left alone to do our work...in peace and quiet. Companies these days haven't a clue what their employees need. As a CEO of 3M once said 'hire great people a leave them alone to do their job'
It could even be considered abusive, to hire someone to do a job with tight deadlines (like we have) and then throw all these obstacles in their way...it's like companies these days are TRYING to make their employees fail...so frustrating as an introvert.

Just remember like I must STRESS have the resume before you get the degree. From personal experience, the degree won't be taken seriously enough for you to get a job with it. As a solo degree it is NOT worth it. Its so much debt too. My advice is, get many years of customer service experience and get knowledge of Spanish. Don't need to be able to run for president of Mexico just can handle a conversation. Volunteer at libraries and possibly get a job as a Library Assistant. After a year of this then apply. It will also make you more competitive to get into schools like UofWashington, UCLA, Indiana these three schools alone can guarantee you a job anywhere else just work very hard and pray a lot as well as have the resume.

      Average base salary of $67k.
About 5 years of college so loss of 5 years of earning plus cost of tuition and keeping yourself alive for those 5 years.
There is expected to be about 15,200 openings for librarians and library media specialists each year while there were 24,259 MLIS graduates in 2019 so about 42% of graduates should expect to not get work as a librarian. I assume this means graduates from more prestigious $$$ schools get hired before cheaper degrees.
The video says librarian jobs will increase 6% a year. Sounds good. The number I saw was 9%...even better right? Well that growth is only the same as the worker pool is growing. That's not really what I would call growth. It's staying steady. People graduating with MLIS degrees is falling slightly though. But still, 15k openings, 24k grads looks like a huge gap to me. And also 15k is no a huge number either which means just finding those openings is not going to be very easy. You'll likely have to look throughout the US and be ready to relocate to wherever you have to whether you like the location or not. Unlikely you'll have your pick of openings.
I don't know what you mean by "worth in" but from a financial perspective it's not something I would consider. Women often pick low paying careers. Not sure why. Perhaps as a men I can attract better women by earning more while men don't pick women based on their careers. If a women plans on finding a high earning man to fund their lower paying career it makes sense they wouldn't value the financial part of the equation.

I drove trucks for little bit about 10 years when people were talking about automatic driving cars, so was thinking a little bit about what I imagine could happen. I can see adding automated cargo trucks for cargo coming off a boat. In the Logan movie it kind of looks like those are the automatic trucks that are operating on the road transporting shipping containers. For regular tractor/trailer vehicles I can see an automated tractor (tractor is what you call the cab), but I think it will still require an operator being in control. One reason for that is that trailers are extremely cheap to make. They're just a big box with an axle in the back. You still need to hook up the air and electrical when hooking up a tractor to a trailer, and do a walk around to make sure everything is good. If someone tried to automate the tractor so that there was no human operator, it would take a huge investment of money to completely replace trailers. Great thing about trailers for a large enough operation like a Budwiser Brewery is the warehouse personnel can fill up the trailer and store it in the yard. Then the driver arrives three hours later and drops an empty trailer they arrived with and picks up the assigned loaded trailer.

There's a good chance of truck driving becoming automated. Not certain, but there are such big savings for this...companies are going to try. Truck drivers will still be needed but current drivers displaced by automation will want into that smaller pool.
Truck drivers see interstates. They don't see the country.
Each day drivers generally spend at least 8 hours at a truck stop. You're dealing with every yahoo driver in the lot. Shared showers, etc... You will be living with strangers cheek to cheek.
There are a bunch of TH-cam channels covering the realities of truck driving.

Engineering involves lots of teamwork and collaboration, but there are also a lot of single assignments so you won't get overwhelmed. As of right now, he's renting out a place with a bunch of people he only met a few months ago, which is something I could probably not do. Trucking is likely going to begin to go full electric. So the industry will just keep on trucking, just no with combustion power. And electric powered big rigs has way more upside than downsides!! There'll probably be tax, DMV registration and insurance rate incentives for going electric. Warranty costs will likely be less. Operational costs, less. The big downside I see, is with the gradual elimination of big rig diesel mechanic jobs. But hopefully it'll be a gradual process. And give time for people to make career adjustments. People seriously enjoying diesel mechanic work can slip over to power-generator systems. Diesel will remain in use in various forms, just not on the road much. The Tesla co. was talking about sales prices on their electric big rigs at only around $150k ea. That's a price that fleets are gonna jump on, I would think.. So check out the Tesla TH-cam about their proposed big rig!
