Not in the actual film but thru the lore, John Krasinski who created the franchise said how they got to earth, there home planet far far away (which was dark and quiet) exploded and they’ve been riding thru space on the fragments until some of those fragments eventually landed on earth, and because they are use to quietness, the slightest noise is so sensitive to them they try to kill it
I pray the cat lives through the whole film like the cat did in Alien cause it only did hiss when it knew the alien was near but not loud enough to draw attention so hopefully this will be the same situation for the cat in Day One if not ill be very disappointed 😢❤ still looks awesome and hope it does well in box office🙂

I feel like if they made this into a shaky camera type movie (mockumentary), similar to cloverfield it would be that much better with the intensity and atmosphere. It would be a different thing to do for the third movie (prequel), but it should be good still.

To be fair, cats aren't usually noisy creatures unless interacting with another living thing.
They're also smart, a lot more than we give credit for.
