    Really hope you survived the gum, Jabs! Love 1990 Topps. It’s the set that sparked my love of baseball cards. I was 7 years old in 1990. My grandfather would send me packs in the mail and that’s how it all started. Such great memories! I still have all those original 90 Topps cards in my collection. All thanks to grandpa 😊

    Found a Frank Thomas Partial Blackless Error (relative of NNOF, only more rare) In an old box. Freshly graded PSA 8! It's listed on Ebay if anyone here happens to be looking for a sharp copy (absolute stunner on the front w/ minor surface issue on the back). Still can't believe it. Happy hunting y'all.

    Maybe a little off-topic, and not intended to be controversial.
    I remember 1990 Topps design was criticized a good bit upon release (and still would say is pretty low on such all-time polls). In 1991 they improved the design, and especially the photography, even if was still on crummy gray cardstock. 1992 was white cardstock, while 1993 added gloss and player photos on the reverse.
    Such quality lasted to 2011. 2012 no longer had player photo on reverse. Starting in 2015, there was no longer any foil on the cards (aside from Topps logo), while the card stock used seemed to have gotten cheaper in quality.
    (Of course there was the bricking issue that lasted around 1999-2004, but at least the effort was there to produce a higher quality product.)

      I think it was too. The issue with 1990 wax boxes was duplicate collations. Speaking of which - I have a couple cases of this stuff if anyone wants to NNOF hunt :)

    • @thehutch357
      @thehutch357 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I heard it was in some boxes, but they can tell by the serial number if it potentially could be in there. I believe they caught it before the entire print run was done. Hence why it’s so rare.

    • @TranscendentalThoughts
      @TranscendentalThoughts ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure there's no rule or certainty about that unless you were working for Topps that day. Like he said, no one here has ever seen it pulled, so how would we actually know where it might be?

    • @krishdasgupta7313
      @krishdasgupta7313 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TranscendentalThoughts there is a full discussion on this on the Collectors forum. There is a way to tell based on the box code - which is why its possible many boxes simply “don’t” contain it. As the previous poster mentioned , they fixed it right away - it’s possible the population of this has been found.

    • @TranscendentalThoughts
      @TranscendentalThoughts ปีที่แล้ว

      @krishdasgupta7313 sure man, I get that, but pretty sure this is sports cards and not calculus. What I'm saying is there's a chance, and no one can tell me there's not, unless you were literally the guy running the press. I bet none of those people in the discussion are that guy either. Just because you read it on the internet somewhere, yadda yadda yadda.

    We lost Wander so far, that’s sad just bad, now Ohtani is out hope he recovers he was on such a good trajectory!! That hurts !! I hope no one else gets any major road blocks, I don’t think my planning for my future investments can take this! Lol. Why I love this hobby! I guess some of the lesser players need to step out, time to go grab my rookies box wait and see who is going to step up! Life!

    I collect errors/corrections and variations in all the master sets I put together, but to avoid going down too many rabbit holes I had to draw the line on printing flaws/accidents - there's no end to them. So, at the end of the day the NNOF Thomas is a simple printing error - it's not like they forgot to put his name on and said "Stop the presses!". Hyper rare? Sure, and I get the fact that its the first card of a HOFer, but I could never get into the hype.

    This is the year I really started collecting when I was young. I loved the idea of collecting and believing I was making a investment. I guess it was just a bad time to collect because many years later I found out all these cards are just hard toilet paper. I had no idea how saturated the market was. I still love the idea of collecting and finding that one (lottery ticket) times have changed for sure.

    I found a no name when I was 10yrs old going through packs after leaving the store. Sitting in the backseat of the car , I said," What hell? They didn't put his name on it. It ended up in the junk card shoebox. To this day I haven't found it and I think I may have told mom to just throw it away.😢 or it was in albums that were stollen. I stopped collecting for 20 yrs and started back up rebuying all the cards i had. I buy 90' everytime I see sealed packs. No name is the only one I haven't reclaimed.
