Loved the track. Hyponotic, uplifting, inspiring.

That was beautiful, its easy to forget when making music on a computer that performing live is still an essential part of music. Don’t know why, but it also inspired me to ponder whether one could write a semi self generating contrapuntal work using delays and looping, with canons and other classic contrapuntal techniques. Completely unrelated to modular synthesis, I know, but that’s where my mind went.

I used to make these self oscillating machines using Reason. Maybe check that out and see if you can do it?

This was fantastic! Your very own Jean-Michel Jarre moment Christian! It's nice to hear a rack of modules up against a big synth or two. Love it!

Russell Clewett I hear more MO than JMJ - excellent piece.

Bloody great! Honestly, one of the very few modular synth videos that actually becomes a piece, most just loop about for ten minutes but never grow up to become songs.

F*ck yeah Christian! Way to have a go at the performance despite being uncomfortable. Both relatable AND inspirational to watch. Keep it up.

One of my most popular TV cues was a piece that I put together using generative music software. I then orchestrated and arranged it for orchestra. I totally agree that the human still needs to listen and shape what's being produced to create a pleasant final result.

Some of the most 'musical' modular stuff I've heard! I like it! Love the sound of that p-bass too!

Well done Christian. Your piece was simply beautiful; simple in concept and action but what your synth produced (along with some human interaction) was wonderful and mesmerising.
This will add so much to your music and I can't wait to here future scores where this is implemented.
    Bravo, Christian!

Really enjoyed your performance and nice that you did a mix of modular and more traditional synths/keyboards. BTW loving this series. I don't have a modular system (yet) but I've found your videos really informative as well as entertaining.

Luscious piece of music in here Christian I must say, and it's been very engaging to witness your increasing adoration of the possibilities of modular too. Could be worth considering adding some random sources in there next as Sandy speaks about later on too - there are so many to choose from, including Qu-Bit Electronix Chance or Make Noise Wogglebug for example. The element of surprise, that you clearly miss from the DAW, is right there before your very ears and eyes. It will be another revelation, I guarantee it.

This is one of the most amazing and unique live performances I've heard in recent times, Christian! Striking with simplicity, musicianship and a clear concept at the same time. Would love to see more of this, maybe separated into two parts so we can follow along: the creation/technical part and the actual performance part. Keep it up!

Great job Christian. Very musical... really nice.
I feel like there is a certain meditative quality to it... and perhaps that is because of all of the looping... but I think that is something of the attraction perhaps for some people... when life is so busy, noisy, etc... in some ways, the sequence pattern, even if random or is always modulating... it does seem to have a sort of draws you into the patterns... and even if the music is busy itself... my experience of it was almost a bit meditative. And I don't really meditate.
Also... it is a testimony to your musicianship that you have taken random sounds, etc... and have turned out a quality composition built off these sequences and modular electronic sounds. It is outstanding that you continue to stretch your own envelope... to challenge yourself... to seek new horizons... and you take us along for your pioneering exploration.

That takes me back to the days of Pink Floyd. I know theirs was what the Moddy Blues also did using a melotron but I think PF used more modular stuff and the Moody's more orchestral and melotron.

Plays Live oh my mistake. I was 21 then when I was listening to Pink Floyd on a tape player, a d I didn't know as mkuch about electronic music, and still don't about Pink Floyd, ha. We didn't ha e anything to reasearch on a band back then apart from documentaries and books, and I didn't like books. The advent of the Internet had helped catch up and learn more by having it readily available on the web.

I'm loving looking forward to mondays and in this case tuesdays for Mod Madness!.....This is unrelated, and perhaps not the right medium for commenting this, but....would it be possible for you to at some point touch on scripting? (not on mod mondays, but the other series you have).....I feel like the documentation available through NI is not really suited to a new-comer in scripting. It would be awesome if you were to touch on ways we can teach ourselves, and who knows, maybe NI is listening and will understand that they need to up their game in that sense. And don't worry, even if I become a scripting monster, I'll still have a place for spitfire in my arsenal, top notch man.

I thought it sounded great but I felt that it was more a case of concrete use rather than abstract use of the modular system (which is where I suspect its dangerous strength lies). Probably not that surprising since it was your first stab...but using the modular system in a standard musical way is only the tip of the iceberg. Nice but a bit controlled. Hopefully more out there fucked up microtuned out sounds and randomised polyrhythmic stuff coming later!! There was a long period in the late 60s to early 70s where synthesis was underestimated and keyboard players forced them into standard albeit weird sounding use (switched on Bach and all that). Modular must surely be about more than merely making pleasant melodies?
