- After the Dallas Stars lost 2-1 to the Edmonton Oilers - ending their 2024 NHL Playoff run - Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Wyatt Johnston reflected on the loss.
Thanks for the great series from an oilers fan. And thanks to the Stars fans who were by far the best and classiest of the teams we’ve faced so far. It was refreshing honestly. You guys deserved better tonight that’s for sure.

Dallas, you guys did a great job in this series... you can hold your heads high, you gave Oilers the fight of their lives. Looking forward to seeing you back out on the ice next year, gunning for the tops again (and hopefully my Jets will be right behind you)... your time is coming but it seemed that this year is the year for McDavid and Draisaitl to reach for the highest stars... best wishes to all of you!
They really didn't give the Oilers much of a challenge until today. I'm shocked and massively disappointed that we didn't bring our A game until today, but the sad fact is that the Oilers played their A game more often than we did.
That’s been the motto for like 25 years now and nothing has changed.
Getting back again also isn’t a guarantee.

Thank you, Wyatt Johnson for not agreeing with the reporter suggestion that it was all Connor McDavid and Dallas fans are the top of the league. Edmonton fans would gladly take that group of stars players. You have great future ahead.
As an Oiler fan, I’m also a Stars fan, a Habs fan, a Panther fan, ….basically a full on Hockey fan. My heart goes out to the Stars. Great run boyz. 🇨🇦

This is an outstanding Team....I was genuinely a fan most of the year, including my call for a cup winner if they made it to the Finals....and this coming from a lifelong Oilers guy.

LOVE ALL OF EVERY PLAYER FROM THE DALLAS STARS. YOU PLAYED WITH TREMENDOUS HEART AND AUTHORITY. BAD BOUNCES, UNCAPITALIZED SHOTS ON NET INCLUDING HIT GOAL POSTS COST US. EDMONTON WAS CLEARLY OUTPLAYED WHEN U LOOK AT SHOT FOR SHOT. EDMONTON CAME OUT LUCKY. GOALTENDING WAS THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED THEM WITH ALL THE SHOTS DALLAS HAD.
And that killer PK!!
Emotional players have big hearts. Hockey is an amazing team sport. Stars are a Class Team.

Stars fans are much classier than Vancouver and LA fans. Thanks for the great series, if it wasn’t for Skinner they’d be back in Dallas for a game 7 and honestly don’t know who would take that one. You’ve got a great team Dallas!
Not gonna lie, this feels similar to 2010-2011 when the Rangers got so close and lost. Hopefully we will see a different result sooner than 13 years later.

I thought same. I was surprised Dallas didn’t take it home.
The one thing I noticed this entire playoff run is the Stars not banking on opportunities. If their opponents this playoff run had the kind of looks Dallas had, Dallas would have gotten blown out every outing. The only player I’d say that was banking on good opportunities was Johnston. So it’s not a talent issue, it’s an execution issue. Performing under pressure. Also there were times where on the rush they would over pass the puck, when they probably should have shot it. Sometimes you only need to make the simple play.
Jamie's gutted but you can tell he knows they were wronged. After Game 2, the series just flipped and the bias was so clear. This is wrong.

For sure, there were some big missed calls in Game 6 (elbow to Stank that should have been a 5 min major, and a few high sticks). However, their lack of innovation in game 4 once the cherry-picking got shut down, and general overall chaos on both ends of the ice got us into this position. Poweplay the whole season was inconsistent, PK fell apart at times too. They waited way too long to step up. Pavs suffers because of it. look at last season when Pavs came back from a concussion and scored the hat trick. What happened? the boys blew a 3-0 lead. Edmonton worked harder this game (Especially Skinner). They gotta stop coasting. They did it all playoffs. face facts the boys need some discipline in that department.

seriously, the main story line should be our inability to defend our home ice, losing game 1 and game 5 at home to Edmonton. Losing game one in every series at home. Think about that for a moment. Dallas, we were 4 and 6 at home out of a total of 19 games played. Leaving 9 wins on the road, which is an amazing feat in and of itself. But dang it man, no one comes into your house and slaps you around. It is like you enjoyed playing the villain taking teams souls on their home ice, but it does you no good if you can't protect your own.

I feel bad for the Dallas stars, I'm an Oiler fan but I thought the stars were the better team. Hopefully the stars don't rip and tear their team apart, they beat vegas and Colorado but unfortunately for them, the Oilers wanted it more than them. Hopefully next year for Dallas. Go Oilers 👍
