Marv Albert and Paul McGuire on the call for this game on NBC at 1pm. Man the Jets and Dolphins is my 10 Top NFL rivalries. So many fights by fans down at Joe Robbie. It was blood boiling in the 80's with Marino Duper Clayton O'Brien Al Toon Klecko Gastineu Wesley Walker Freeman McNeill. 😊 . They so do the old school 1986 Jets uniforms and 1984 Dolphins uniforms for the 100th NFL anniversary 😊
I always wondered Smiths major problem and I think it was that he played kinda scared!!he never just put his head down and used his frame, even tho he was yoked!!thats why he fumbled a lot,had little burst out from the eye and just played restrained, just like that goal line run, jumped as soon as he saw someone closing the gap instead of just putting his head down and following his OL,It was a F'N half a yrd and he jumped at like the 2 and a half yrd line,I noticed this in other gms with him,I think he played NOT to get injured but its football, its a physical sport and he was pretty beastly lookin!!probably as big as a lot of LB'rs then, but probably more muscle!!
I literally put DC OLIVIDOTTI right at the #2 reason that the early 90's DOLPHINS didn't at least make one SB appearance, the dude had the pieces but could not make 2nd half adjustments to save his life and the #1 reason I either go with the BILLS or a very unfavorable one,DON SHULA,mainly because he wouldn't make that move and fire OLIVIDOTTI and honestly it was this very season that kind of became a curse because it was a surprise 12-4 div round playoff season and that gave new life to SHULA 😮
Lageman needed to play his natural middle linebacker position to truly succeed (Boston College), but that idiot Joe Walton picks him in the 1st round at pick 14 and makes Lagemen an outside linebacker in the 3-4, then Coslett makes him a DE, which he is too light to play. Andre Rison and Steve Atwater would have been the smarter picks.
And thats pretty crazy cuz u coulda done a lot worse for a team back then, off the top I think Marino and the fins were in the playoffs off the top of my head I wanna say at least 10x in Marinos 17 yrs,but that one REALLY costly 4 yr stretch in the late 80's which was smack in the middle of Marinos prime cost Dan tremendously,Shula just could never put a consistent top 10 D around Marino,he just needed a consistent D not so much a great one,the one he got at the end of his career with JJ was absolutely good enough to take them to the SB but by then Dan was close to the end and the offense was taken out of his hands by JJ,but its too bad the way things came together, cuz if u really wanna cry then 2 yrs after his retirement Miami gets RICKY WILLIAMS and ironically of course they had no QB to push them over,so pretty frustrating over those yrs, nearly 2 great decades with imo the best passer EVER but no D and no running gm then close to a decade with a top 10 D and a running gm for a few yrs,but no QB !!
Orange Bowl was always sold out. When Joe Robbie was built capacity was increased from 38,000 to 74,000. I grew up going to many games and saw the decline for sure. Lots of Floridans moved out in 1992 after Andrew and was the true beginning of not selling out games.
i got one of them badass 1990 white marino jerseys

McGuire was one of my favorite announcers. Fast talking, witty Irishman. D
@@flexiblestrategist9922 Paul Maguire, not Al McGuire.

This was the first game I attended.
Three 1983 1st round quarterbacks in this game. Dan Marino, Ken O'Brien, and Tony Eason.
O'Brien and Eason were done or in backup rolls in less than 10 years.
Everytime I see Tom Olivadotti, I get angry. He is one the reason Miami defense would get burned in the 4th

Can hear the Tooooon's when he got the ball
Dan is the man
Crowded Jet backfield with McNeil Hector Baxter and Thomas almost splitting carries evenly.
Brad Baxter aka 'Mr. Hit and Run' was a beast. My favorite rb in the 90's
Einhorn is Finkle.
Finkle is Einhorn.
This video almost made me a Jets fan
Jets had Terance Mathis and got very little out of him. His first year in Atlanta he goes off for 1300 receiving yards and 11 TDs.
Sammi Smith vs Blair Thomas...the Battle of the Busts!
Blair Thomas picked instead of Emmitt Smith 🤣
Blair Thomas was awesome
🐬✈
I was there!
1:13:47 Mark Duper TD
2:04:15 Mark Duper 2TD

Back in a day when men were men and players respected America
This was 1990 not 1950
@@joedimaggio3687 still true though

Only kidding
Miami could never fill the stadium

And that’s a damn shame too. One of many NFL teams
