Top 7 Greatest Mechs In Movies For Titanfall Fans!

  • While many games have given players the chance to pilot giant combat robots, Respawn's online fps Titanfall brings man and machine together like never before, allowing pilots to embark and disembark seamlessly from their mechs. With it's fast-paced adrenaline fueled action in battles of up to 12 titans, it can be hard going out there for a pilot, so for those of you in need of a little extra inspiration in battle or maybe you just enjoy giant humanoid robots .. Join us on Sci-Film7 as we countdown the top 7 pilotable mechs in movies.
    Kicking things off is James Camerons sci-fi action film Aliens. Despite the fact the Power Loader from the 1986 film is not the most combat equipped machine to make our list, when Ripley joins a team of Marines returning to the planet from the first film to investigate loss of contact with the colony, it's the heavily armed marines who are no match for the predatory blade tip tailed alien creatures and Ripley piloting the Power Loader Exo-Suit armed with little more than a blowtorch that takes on the alien queen.
    In 2008s Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, Rico leads an elite team of troopers on a rescue mission to Oscar Miguel -1, a planet in the Arachnid Quarantine Zone. Rico and the other six marauders enter bugtown using the Federation's new battle-suits, equipped with flamethrowers, dual machine guns and the love of Jesus Christ, they attempt to defeat the Arachnid warriors and rescue the two survivors Holly and Lola.
    The 2003 film The Matrix Revolutions was the final movie of the trilogy and showcased The Armored Personnel Unit defending the underground city from the sentinel machines. The APU consisted of 350 hydraulic powered battle suits designed for combat and defense of Zion, with two 30mm cannons equipped, the APU mechs might just be reason enough to take the red pill.
    2009s Avatar, set in the mid-22nd century, humans are mining a precious mineral on an inhabited moon called Pandora. When the native inhabitants the Na'Vi refuse to evacuate a sacred site, war breaks out between the native clans and the human RDA private security force. Not for the first time towards the end of a James Cameron movie, a human in a mech faces off with an alien species when Colonel Miles jumps into the AMP suit (the A.M.P stands for armored mobile platform} this time though roles are reversed as Neytiri of the Na'Vi and then Jake Sully's avatar fight with what seems to be the real monster of pandora... Colonel Miles in his AMP suit!
    Making it into our top 3, Robot Jox! A 1989 post-apocalyptic science fiction film set fifty years after a nuclear holocaust. Open war is forbidden by the surviving nations which have merged into two opposing factions, the western influenced Market and the Russian themed Confederation. To resolve territorial disputes the two sides hold gladiator style matches between giant robots piloted by robot jox. The acting is far from Academy Award standard and the films cold war influenced plot plus the special effects make it a little dated, but with espionage, genetically modified pilots and stunning robots armed with some of the most surprising weaponry, it's well worth it's number 3 spot on our countdown.
    In at number 2 is 2013s Pacific Rim where an interdimensional portal has opened on the pacific ocean floor, colossal beasts referred to as Kaijus come through the portal and venture inland attacking the surrounding cities. To combat them the pacific rim nations come together to build Jaegers, equally colossal humanoid war machines. The biggest mechs to make our countdown, the huge Jaegers are usually piloted by two people whose minds are linked to share the overwhelming mental load of operating them. Armed with weapons like these triple buzzsaws and retractable swords, should these gigantic mechs of been number one on our list? Indeed, they are pretty cool and it's hard to find something not to like about these mechs, but perhaps the names Striker eureka, Coyote tango and Gypsy danger could have been better.
    It may surprise some but topping our list is District 9, made in 2009 this film is about an extraterrestrial race stranded on earth and forced to live in slum like conditions. While smaller than most on our list this alien mech-suit packs quite the punch, armed with a plasma gun, machine gun and the must have for any giant mech... shoulder missiles! But best of all... it's equipped with a vortex shield capable of blocking munitions and reflecting them back to the enemy just like those found in Titanfall. Agile yet powerful, perhaps the only drawback to this mech is to pilot one you would first need to be suffering from a condition mutating you into an alien prawn like being! Still, with the ability to fire livestock at your foes.. well worth it in our book.

      EXOs, or I assume exo-skeletons, are light and designed to fit around parts of the wearer, improving strength and sometimes speed, a great example would be the EXO-Suits from COD Advanced Warfare.
      Power Armor is bigger, heavier, and cover the entire body (there can be some gaps.) Fallout4 Power Armor or the Mjolnir Armor are great examples.
      A mech is typically large and requires the user to sit down, these range from smaller Titans to huge Jaegers.

    • @cripplettv1309
      @cripplettv1309 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chavezreal This is actually very false. A mech counts as an exoskeleton, in real life these already exist usually used in some type of construction to carry heavy weight(not everywhere obviously. They're a different type of exoskeleton called 'Powered Exoskeleton'. Nonetheless, they're exoskeletons. Exoskeletons, atleast the ones you've attempted to talk about only talk about the first three or four types.

    District 9's mech is by far the best ever shown on film. Aside from the mech in Aliens, the others felt fake and over the top. But in District 9 it felt so real and organic. I like how it was grounded in it's interaction in the slum environment, as opposed to some CG background. Moreover, it being Alien technology just made it so cool. It was also the perfect climax for such a superb film

    Totally agree with the #1 choice. Overall, the climax of District 9 was one of the best in all sci-fi. But the best part was the complete transformation of Sharlto Copley's character Wikus fromm a milquetoast company man to a raging, avenging (almost literal) killing machine. Most actors require several films in order to demonstrate a range similar to Copley's, just an extraordinary bit of acting.

    bio-mech from District 9 is the best. This thing can decimate the whole crowd of soldiers just with one shot from chain-cannon, or machinegun.The rocket-system is able to destroy some area of buildings or hostile vehicles. It can even catch bullets by using kinetic-forcefield.
    More importantly, this mech can be automated to execute commands by remote control!
    The only flaw is: mech is bad against armor-pierce shells (like was from high-caliber sniper rifle in movie).
    But still - this mech got awesome design, large amount of variative weapon systems. And high mobility.

    Rather disappointed that Starship Troopers 3 made it in there though, as the mechs were slow and clunky, the CGI was garbage (like the movie), and there was nothing particularly impressive about them.

      Blkarrow Rhino's was more of an exo suit, wasn't it?

  • @an8thdimensionalbeing142
    @an8thdimensionalbeing142 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something that sets Titans apart from mechs is that they themselves are also self contained robots capable of fighting and functioning without a pilot controlling them. They're like giant robots with a neural link to their pilot that allows the two of them to work together as one being. Titans aren't mechs. More like advanced robots that protect the already exosuit wearing pilot.

    Holy shit! I remember watching Robot Jox as a kid, but could never remember the name. Everyone I ever asked didn't know either. "You know, the one with the giant fighting robots?" So glad I found this video and the name of that movie, I'll have to watch it again someday!

    Avatar........SPACE TRAVEL....but they still have regular rifles and....knives. I would poop in Camerons popcorn for that! No joke. We already have lasers, particle beams, gauss stuff. Not really ADVANCED yet, but its the fucking FUTURE. Gawd.

      The humans in the Avatar Universe are running low on energy, that's why they probably don't use laser guns
