Few Irish trad accordionists can put so much passion in their music. Tony is The Man!!
I like how he keeps it calm enough for the first tune then drops the boot for the second
Tony MacMahon - Ships are Sailing & Toss the feathers
@Orbertho you must be kidding that box sounds amazing .
After a night of murdered music, this is restoring my sanity. Thanks Tony.
This is 2 minutes and 19 seconds of ear candy.
The player is not the person who posted the video
The player is the Irish musician Tony McMahon now many many years older, in fact I think he is already drawing the Irish State Old Age Pension.
GREAT! You got him back on here! Beauty!!! Tks.
Awesome as always from MacMahon
Just love the way he plays
His name's Tony MacMahon from county Clare. The two tunes he's playing(Extremely well) are Ships are sailing and Toss the feathers. The "Box" he's using is a grey Paolo Soprani tuned i think in C/D could be wrong no doubt i'll get righted.
The tuning is C#/D that's why it sounds so good because the bass is easier to play on a C#/D than a B/C. You have more choices on which way to move the bellows to suit the bass buttons.
I love acordian
Tryn this again. I love acordian music. Madeit.=Stefan=
The man has got two parallel processors. Here is music and here is a musician. Such a contrast with modern pop trash.
I thought I lost him...but my favourite video is back!
Well done drekes, I love this video. And hate it. Wish I could play it!
While looking for a version of "Ships Are Sailing" I stumbled upon this. I had never heard of him,but now I want to listen to anything by him and take up the accordian!!! What kind of button box is that?
Excellent !
Wow he really rocks out towards the end.
its called "Mary Black & The Chieftains - Paddy's Lamentation - Ships Are Sailing"
i think its the best u can get.
Thank you very much Seisflutes!!! I will try it!!
WOW. this is REALLY good
Good man, Tony.
Nice work!
he s awesome!
Spongebob?
Last reply was from a whistle collector. I am a button accordian collector, with six. Plenty here. Surprised you only know PA.
Awesome!!!!Beautifuul song!!!!! Do you have de Sheet music? I would like to learn it!!!!
boxmusic90 i bought a Castagnari Kriss III in October and it's fab cost £1,600.00 direct from Castagnari in Italy. It's in B/C.
I think that's a D/D# layout, which is quite unusual.
Fabulous playing though.
BAHA!! HES BACK!
tunes are ships are sailing and toss the feathers
@kgren08 no.. that is because I like more the sound of french boxes...
nvm i just saw someone else's comment.
but does anyone know where i can find some irish jig tabs for the banjo?
what kind of accordion is that becase the only kind i can find have keys like a piano
Drekes?!? Who the f*** is Drekes!?!
I still think it's a D/D#
this is an accordian correct?
So you don't rate the new Grey Golden Jubilees? Sean Garvey swears by them. Damn if you paid $3,300.00 you'd expect a shit hot box. What's so different about them is it the sound of the reeds?
Super Tony MAcMahon! You are so good! and your accordion is sooo awful!
I just trust saltarelle e castagnari.
All other stuff is awful and first of all honer
ciao!
I still think it's a D/D#
been coming back to this for years, superb piece of playing by a very dedicated musician. Glad it's shared here.
