বাংলাদেশ একটি কৃষিপ্রধান দেশ, কৃষক বাঁচলে দেশ বাঁচবে'
প্রশ্ন জাগে, দেশের বাস্তবতায় এই সত্য বা এক অর্থে বিপ্লব আজ কতটুকু অবশিষ্ট বা প্রাসঙ্গিক। এই দর্শন কি কেবল বইয়ের পাতায়ই বিদ্যমান?
কীভাবে কৃষক ধান বা শস্য বশন করেন, কীভাবে চাষ হয়, ধান মাড়াই হয়, সংরক্ষিত হয়- এইসব প্রত্যক্ষ করার প্রয়োজনীয়তা আমাদের প্রাত্যহিক জীবনে খুব গুরুত্ব গায় না। অথচ আমাদের জীবন সার্বিকভাবেই কৃষিজাত বা উৎপাদিত সামগ্রীর ওপর নির্ভরশীল।
অনুধাবন করার তাগিদ অনুভব করি কৃষক সমাজ কতটুকু মূল্যায়িত হচ্ছে, কৃষক তার কৃষি পণ্যের ন্যায্যমূল্য পাচ্ছেন কি না, উৎপাদন থেকে শুরু করে বাজারজাতক। এবং সংরক্ষণপ্রক্রিয়া পর্যন্ত মধ্যস্বত্বভোগীর দৌরাত্ম্য কৃষকের পরিশ্রমকে ছাপিয়ে যায় কি না। সুলতানের পেশিবহুল শক্তিমান কৃষক যে যা বপন করেন, বাস্তবতায় তা আজ যেন দুঃস্বপ্নের এক পটচিত্র।
বাংলাদেশের মূল জনগোষ্ঠীর প্রায় অর্ধেক যে পেশায় নিয়োজিত, যারা সমগ্র জনগোষ্ঠীর খাদ্য জোগানোর ভার বহন করেন, এই প্রদর্শনী সেই
কৃষক ও কৃষির মূল্যায়ন সম্পর্কে জনসচেতনতা আহ্বান করে, অন্বেষণ করে এর অন্তর্গত নানান জ্বর এবং প্রচলিত ব্যবস্থাপনার গভীরে আলোকপাত করে পুনরায় সংলাপের সূত্রপাত করতে চায় অংশগ্রহণকারী শিল্পীদের দর্শন, অনুভূতি ও কলাপ্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে।
সংস্কৃতি, কৃষ্টি, মাটি, পানি, জলবায়ু নিয়ে ছয়জন শিল্পীর বিভিন্ন প্রকাশরূপ ও মাধ্যমের ব্যাকরণগত স্বাতন্ত্র্য দর্শকমহলে নতুন চিন্তার খোরাক জোগাবে বলে আমাদের বিশ্বাস।
Sowing
Bangladesh is an agrarian country; if the farmers survive, the country will also survive.
The exhibition 'Sowing' prompts us to question the current relevance of this statement. Is it merely a relic found in books, or does it still hold true today? How often do we consider the vital processes of agriculture-the sowing of paddy, the methods of cultivation, the threshing of grain, and the storage of crops? These activities, although crucial to our existence, often go unnoticed in our daily lives.
It is essential to understand how much we value the agrarian community. Are farmers receiving fair prices for their products? Does the exploitation by middlemen overshadow the farmers' hard work, from production to marketing and storage? The powerful imagery of farmers, as depicted by the artist S M Sultan, contrasts sharply with their current struggles, often resembling a nightmare rather than a dream.
The current exhibition highlights the occupation that engages nearly half of Bangladesh's population, namely, the farmers who feed the entire nation. It aims to raise public awareness about the significance of these farmers and their agricultural practices. By exploring various aspects of traditional agricultural systems and management, the exhibition seeks to invite a dialogue around this topic.
Through the philosophies, emotions, and artistic expressions of the participating artists, this exhibition offers a unique perspective. It is hoped that the diverse forms and mediums used by the six participating artists will provide new insights into the country's tradition, culture, soil, water, and climate, inspiring the audience to rethink and appreciate the foundational role of agriculture in Bangladesh.
