  • I spend 3 days building a bushcraft shelter camp with retractable roof, raised bed and simple hand tools. An area where we practise survival skills and enhance our knowledge of bushcraft. Dad also joins me for the build!

Been a while since I’ve been here! I’m now in the process of writing down ideas of what to add to it and any suggestions are welcome! I’m thinking:
    - Smoker for fish and meat
    - Potentially a pole lathe and small forge area for me to practice traditional craft.
    - Then maybe some sort of oven (not brick oven). Let me know your thoughts! #bushcraft #camping #offgrid

I would do something about water collection too with all that rain dripping off that tarp you can make some charcoal and then make a filter or just collect it to boil

If you fancy a bit of tin smithing, you could make a 'tin kitchen' or 'hastener' to place in front of a fire for baking and roasting.

The videos that include your dad I like the best. I don't follow his fishing channel (I tried) but that's not my thing UNLESS it's the two of you. That's when the magic happens, in my opinion. The two of you together are great.

My Daughter and I love bushcrafting, I take her out a few times a week teaching her the things I was taught and picked up when I served in the Royal Marines for 17 years, there really is nothing better than being outdoors with your kids doing what we both love. We are on the lookout now for some land, private land, and write to a few to see if we are able to use a spot to practice and build on. Great videos as always.

Others have said it, but I have to echo:
These are the kind of videos that got me into your channel and get me excited! It's also so cool to see your older builds around still and how they look now. But building the new camp/fort, improving all the various aspects using the new skills/techniques you've acquired with the experience/practice you now have... This is what it's all about to me. Often in life we have to start over on things, but we do it better because we learned more and had more experiences. Absolutely love it. This is my favorite series on your channel, and not just for the project, but your old editing style. The combination of the project, the raw sounds and visuals, cut together in such a simple, beautiful, and pure way, then a bit of fun and commentary to wrap up. And seeing your dad doing it with you always brightens my day. Thank you so much!!

Just a thought, but id wager if you rolled that tarp back up with a piece of Paracord or some such, maybe one on each end, you could unroll it with out needing a stepping stool. Might make it easier to use that way, but it'd have to be affixed at one spot on the rotational log so itd maintain tension. They do similar with spring loaded RV Awnings. Dunno if that helps you or not

Maybe a way to hang your pack on the back wall, a shelf or "hook" or something? Might also be nice to see you build a decent chair, not just a couple of stick tied together, but properly fitted together. And maybe for your fire, some way to make it a rotisserie???

Excellent video as always mate. I want to impart something I learned from Wranglestar with respect to burning the ends of the logs to prevent rot and insects from eating them. He drills a hole into the logs above the ground and pours used motor oil into the holes and therefore down into the logs to achieve the same results. He also is recycling the oil in this method. I have never done this but I figured I’d share 👍🏼

@@harmonic5107 I can understand where you’re coming from and even years ago he had rubbed me the wrong way a few times but I think he’s been speaking in code because he knows that the government watches and he’s been giving advice on how to protect yourself and your family if and when any type of apocalyptic events happen and there are roving gangs of people who want your supplies and it’s certainly a possibility but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think a lot of survival companies are making a lot of money these days cashing in on peoples fears.

    • @Renesh2

Just his fingers. You press the tips of your pointer fingers and thumbs together so there's only a little hole, and push hard against that with your lips so air doesn't leak out the sides. Because all your breath is being forced through a tiny hole, the airspeed increases; so you can blow on the fire from further away and avoid the smoke. You could do it with a straw if you brought one
