The idler is on the wrong side of the belt .the back of the belt os supposed to be touching the idler and the controller will be backwards to engage . I just watched a video and its the other way on his machine . Go look at my lane reel mower restorations,will it run by small engine diy. When i saw it on yours i thought is was on the wrong side .let me know what u think after u see his video u can go to the 55 min mark u will see what i saw

@@YardBrah with it riding on in inside of the belt it won't be using most of the drive pully. With the back of the belt riding on the idler it will be using more then 3/4 of the drive pully I had messed around with one years ago the guy says every year it goes through belts then I did some research and did it the other way he said it just took some time to get use to the controll being the other way but went years on one belt

Aside from the trials and tribulations to getting running smooth, how do you feel about the cut compared to the Sunjoe? How many blades is this? Thinking of picking up a used one or maybe the Sunjoe - about the same price…
I would go with the Sunjoe to start cause even now I’m waiting on parts that are back ordered… it’s def a passion thing with these vintage mowers… if you can get a new one like my Cali trimmer oh it’s a dream… but for the older ones to adjust the reel to bedknife you gotta hammer it in place and if it’s off you gotta start over again… you need the backlap tool you need to make sure everything is running and then you need to buy a roller so it doesn’t scalp cause it will with casters 😂😂😂 you see my pain… Sunjoe is plop battery in and enjoy… if you do the mods I did you’ll have even more fun 😊🤙🏾🙏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@YardBrah I picked up the Sun Joe thanks to you. Pleasantly surprised! This thing weighs more than I expected - coming from a manual push reel, that is. And it's definitely scalping a lot more, likely due to that weight. Going to try out your front roller mod and see if that helps.But this is just what I needed. I was busting my ass with the Earthwise, but didn't break a sweat with this thing!
