- Find out if visiting Versailles Palace is a good idea for your first day in Paris (or, in our case, France), learn from some rookie mistakes we made, and plan YOUR best trip to this historic and stunningly grand icon of France.
Our next video on Versailles will be of our SECOND trip out there, when we saw the interior, so we'll go into more of the amazing history of the palace then!

I highly recommend a guided tour. It was just for two of us. The guide picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Versailles. During the drive we had a lovely discussion about the history of Paris and Versailles. Once there we used head sets and the guide spoke into a mic so we could easly hear. Then a relaxing drive back. Best tour ever!!!
Ooh what a lovely idea! That sounds amazing! 😃
Guided tour cuz it’s really up to them where they take you inside the palace. Also recommend getting there about 2hours earlier cuz by the time of your guided tour there will be a meeting point and roll call. Now the gardens are their own entity LEGIT!
Good idea!
As far as I was concerned the gardens were the very best of my day.
That and the hamlet, for sure. So worth all the walking!
Good information, thanks for sharing❤❤❤. New subscriber 😊
Thank you!
did i miss the follow up to if you were right to do the gardens first?
We did the gardens on our first visit and the interior on our second visit. 😀
So cool! Thanks for sharing ❤️
😇 thanks for watching!
You really do need a day inside and a day outside... Had the opportunity to plan a "state" event at Versailles in the 80's. Reception in the Hall of Mirrors and dinner in the Hall of Battles. Pretty special night for all. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely! We saw only the palace on our second visit, which I'll share soon, but we still need to go back just for the trianons! 😊
I love my memories of visiting the Chateau when it was completely empty during the height of Covid. My son took a photo of me in the Hall of Mirrors with no one in the entire room. Wow. These are fantastic tips and first timer mistakes. There’s always “mistakes” to make when you travel anywhere. I think the key is to be as prepared as possible in advance, do your research, have a plan B, and then just roll with it. FYI - the fountains are shut down part of the year due to cold temps and to protect the pipes.
I love that you got to see it empty! 🤩
@@ThisFrenchLife if only I wonder how good photoshop is with things like that
@@mylesF33 There is that now, for sure. But as I said, I was living in France during Covid and got to be there with it “empty,” as I did with the Louvre (only a few others with me and the Mona Lisa). It was an incredible experience. I wish I had more footage and images, tbh. It was magical.
I remember that amazing picture of you under the Louvre pyramid. 👌
