  • In This CNC Tech Tip we'll be showing you how to grease your HGR15 rails using a Kingchrome mini Grease gun.
Please note: Due to their size not all HGR15 bearing blocks have grease nipple holes and the required greasing adapter. The HGR15 bearing blocks we stock do have them.
We hope your enjoy the video!

Helpful tip I hope is well received (Just something I had to learn as well) - Be careful! Linear rails should never be filled with grease! It is far too viscous and greatly reduces if not totally eliminates the ability for smooth re-circulation of the bearings within the block (Often then remain stationary and you truly only have static metal bearings sliding along metal rails without reciprocation .. aka metal on metal). Not just an opinion but a fact. Had to also learn the hard way! Love the work you guys do and actually am about to have my 1510 WorkBee arrive (have genuine Hiwin rails waiting it for modding) but wanted to share this as you will get MUCH greater performance with them operating properly with proper lubrication -> Oils never grease! Had representatives from THK (Very High end linear rail manufacturer) meet in person and forward this information about how vital this is to use correct oils never grease. (Id recommend block disassembly / cleaning in Ethanol or Isopropyl alc wash path to remove all grease and lubricate properly with something like ..) Try SuperLube Synthetic Oil with Syncolon® (Suspended PTFE nano Particles). Anyway Hope this may help! Sorry for being overly forward - just love following your work (Actually interested in ordering some Workbee upgrade plates when able!) Just ... Had to say something as.. Heavy grease .. completely ..negates the whole way these blocks work / benefit to reciprocal bearings within these. Hope it might help for proper operation!

We appreciate the honesty and support! :)
It gives us a chance to listen to our customers and other peoples experiences so that we, in turn, can give our customers awesome experiences.
      Great tips!
And of course :) We've got quite a few plate sets back in stock now.
Can you confirm you have MGN15 and HGR15 rails coming? Our plate set uses MGN15 on the Z and HGR15 on X&Y axes.

What if you have a significant load on the system? I’d imagine your comment is strictly for no load applications. For example, my linear bearings are holding my sim rig as it slides forwards and backwards and I’ve found that ep2 grease works best for it.

Damn bro you mustve never worked in industry because unless the load is extremely light we will pack it with grease 9/10 times

Do you have to dissasemble the axis to grease? (Ultimate Bee or similar?)

Does this work on HGH15 blocks? Would this work with what it calls the Sharpie tip? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S7W62FY
