- EDIT 2: It appears that you should now be able to view this video in HD once again. If you are still having issues (like the toolbar not giving you the HD option), let me know by commenting.
EDIT 1: I apologize to those of you who can only view this in 240p; I did originally upload this video in 1080p resolution, but it seems that as of recent, TH-cam somehow downgraded the quality to shit. As far as I know, there is not much I can do about that.
Welcome aboard Pacific Surfliner Train 579, the Los Angeles bound express from San Diego. It is the peak travel period, so we have a 9 car train being pushed by two F59PHi locomotives. We will depart from San Diego, and call at Solana Beach (37:30), Oceanside (52:00), San Clemente Pier (1:14:00), San Juan Capistrano (1:24:00), Irvine (1:40:30), Santa Ana (1:51:30), Anaheim (2:00:00), and Fullerton (2:07:20), before terminating at Los Angeles Union Station (2:28:30). Enjoy the ride and the beautiful California Coast before we transition into the urban sprawl of Southern Los Angeles. This train follows the real life schedule of 579 (www.amtrak.com/ccurl/536/483/P..., and with the extra schedule padding, we depart up to 5 minutes early from each station. All aboard. - เกม
It's pretty cool seeing the differences the double tracking projects are making for the Surfliner. So many slowing down's to 60 or 40 mph on this video are no longer necessary in real life now.
Train sim needs to have the big buildings for LA
@Amtrak Surfliner
A wheel slip is when the wheels lose traction on the tracks and they spin faster than they should, you turn the sander on to prevent it.
This route looks good!
lol, in due time, you know I will. 8 and 10 bi levels with one AEM-7, and 12 bi levels with a sandwich formation of 2 AEM-7s.
Great vid
467 is a Amtrak Cascades unit lol
Could you tell me how did you make the route start from San Diego? Because all of my scenarios are going southbound...
damn this is nostalgic
Was this a roam? I hate the speed limits on here, I just got the game as a gift, nice post, you have gained a new subscriber
This was quick drive, and thanks =)
im buying this route tomorrow
What dose wheel slip mean and what do you do?
It's when your wheels spin over the track without moving i believe. A train is rather heavy and when you throttle to fast your get wheelspin before they get a grip on the track. If you throttle up slower it won't spin.
Wheelslip is exactly as it entails, when your wheels slip over the tracks. This could be because of weight being at the front with not enough power, too much brake, or anything else that could be similar to said problems. This happens more on freight trains, as they are heavier and need more power pushing to get it started. This could also occur because of rain/sleet/snow, which is why the locomotives have sanders.
i woould love to see that
Nice, how do you get a double header? Just curious.
It comes with the route.
5:40 why is there someone one the tracks?!?!?!?
What settings is your screen resolution set to while you play the game? I have the game, it's just not like your screen. Please let me know, thanks!
I don't remember what it is off the top of my head, but I think one of the numbers is 1388...

Ok, well I have this problem, while I'm playing the game the graphics take awhile to load while I'm driving the train and it just doesn't match yours, so what I'm trying to firgure out is if it's my screen resolution that needs to be lowered or something else. I am playing the game on my hp laptop and its screen resolution numbers are 1366 x 768 (recommended). I could really use the help. Thank you!
Everyone's asking me about the graphics lately... Most likely, your graphics processing unit in your computer is not specified to handle the graphics requirements of the game. There's no settings you can tweak to fix that.
Fan Railer
All right, thanks for the help bud
what are your specs?
I am getting this game soon. How do I get the cars and locomotives?
Jacob Champion you have to purchase this as a DLC in the game. You probably already have the game and already found this on your own or heard about this somewhere else, so this comment is probably useless. But if you still haven’t found that out, then you’re welcome
It's ok dude
try 8 or 10 bi level cars with one AEM7 on the Notheast Corridor i wanna c that
What computer do u have I need it so I can play this.
Anything with an i5 or higher processor, more than 4 gbs of ram, and a NVIDIA discrete graphics card. (no integrated gpu, like the intel HD graphics or anything like that).
4% brakes and in san diego station, the trains gonna be rolling while passengers board lmao
Can the display at the bottom be turned off?
D3 Media yes. toggle F3 or F4, depending on which HUD is being used.
+Danny Benson Yes, it can.
กราฟฟิก สวยจิง รอผมไปเเต่งคอมก่อน ตอนนี้เก็บเงินอยู่
I love del mar beach they need to update it on the game
24:12 is fast 90mph
HD?
high def. if you're not able to stream high def, then your internet is probably too slow for it.
I know what it stands for, 240p was the only choice available. Judging from the comments, I am not the only one.
Like I said, check your youtube settings. I don't just put HD in my titles for the sake of it if the video isn't actually uploaded in HD.
You have to stop at old town
...579 doesn't stop at old town...
It's in 1080p.
yay, it's back to normal lol
Lol
is this a mod?
no
Only if you declare DLC as a mod
OMG
240P we meet again...
your internet is either too slow to stream HD, or your youtube settings had HD disabled to speed up buffer speed.
once again, not my problem. I can stream mine from 240 all the way to 1080.
Hmm...weird as I was on my internet and it normally can watch 1080
Well, what can I say lol. youtube is just screwy sometimes...
yup

Cabcar 6912? Too bad there is no such thing ... LOL
ALL of the crossings through Orange and Anaheim are designated Quiet Zone crossings, and if you bothered to look at the whistle posts they all had a black W with a red circle and a line through it. You blasted that horn like there was no tomorrow through those crossings, for which you would have been cited big time. Also you went way too fast through a crossover at one point, a 45 mph crossover at 60 mph. You need to watch your advance warning signals and signs as well as your posted speed limits. The speed limit on the timeline is showing you the top speed limit on that part of the line, but you really need to pay attention to those signals as well.
Maybe if you quit playing with the outside views and interior coach views you could pay more attention to what's going on on the line ahead. That part was really annoying, too. I take that trip all the time and I know what the inside of an Amtrak Surf liner coach looks like. I would rather see the view from the cab all the time.
That you would be so bothered to notice all the minor mistakes I make in a simulation game on a route that I probably will not operate more than once or twice a year at this point is amusing. Oh well.
Yea, I know. Thanks man.
lol
***** If you want to know how to properly drive a train on this route, look at PTGRail's Route Learning USA Pacific Surfliner 3 Part Series, those are excellent for route learning and proper train operations.
+DaveWVideo Oh we have a wannabe engineers here. Just a game so get over it..
