I assume that includes food and vet and not just clothes and human needs and renovations like these nuts. I have 2 dogs and easily spend a few grand a year, more if I have to board (I do not buy any of that goofy shit, just a few toys for my chewer, cheap dog beds, etc.)

I know I'm a year late to the party, BUT even as someone who loves dogs, this is ridiculous. Imagine being early mankind and capturing dangerous dogs and training them for war, and now we're dressing up dogs that are way too small. Where has humanity gone?
As an accountant, I had a client once that we were trying to get out of major tax issues, so we were going through their spending to try to identify areas in their budget that needed work. This couple had 2 dogs that they spent on average about $1,300/month on. When we brought up the topic, they said to not even go there and literally told us if they had the choice between saving their dog or a HUMAN child, they would save the dog every time. I grew up on a farm and loved having dogs growing up, but at the end of they day, it's a dog. Lowering the value of a human life below that of an animal is disturbing.
I had a friend who had a dog that she fired on. Then she had a baby. She called the dog the baby’s “brother.” The day she brought her newborn home, she let the dog lick all over the baby! I was done with her.

For me it's not about liking dogs or animals necessarily. It's just that people who are disgusted or get annoyed easily by them tend to be more self centered in my experience. It's part of my red flag meter now because it just hasn't proven me wrong. People who are neutral about them are different. I have friends who would never have a pet and would be fine if they never were around any pets ever. But they have always been kind to the ones they encounter and never say how awful or annoying they are. They always criticize the owner which is the initial problem anyway. It's just not for them and it's ok. Then people who are obsessed with their pets like these TikToks also are also apart of my red flag meter. You can be a great pet owner without being obsessed with them. To be honest this is the same as a helicopter parent and by doing this are being bad owners as it causes a lot of anxiety and dependency issues for the pet.
It's totally fine to have your own feelings and opinions. I understand why someone would find dogs annoying sometimes, just like how kids are annoying sometimes. But I definitely judge you for not liking dogs. It's actually a handy tool to know right away whether or not you would be compatible with someone.
I am a dog loather. I like herbivore pets like rabbits and pocket pets and over the years I have lost a few of my pets to bad dog owners letting dogs run or bringing a dog to my house after being told not to because of my animals. My parents had a dog that almost blinded me when it attacked me unprovoked as a 4 year old and I have been bitten a few times when out hiking on nature trails near my house because dog owners don't want to lease their mutts. A person's relationship with dogs is a good compatibility test. If the dog is a running buddy that is always leashed and not in your face when you visit them, then common ground can be found, if not then run away. Dog free people are generally cool and easy to make human connects with because a dog is not in the picture. I considered attitude toward dogs as one of the big must haves with my husband.
@@enfreeze Nah, that ain’t GSDs, that’s specific blood lines. American show lines are garbage, West German show lines are good family dogs, DDR are pretty good working dogs, and Czechoslovak police lines are the best. If you get a well bred working GSD they’re phenomenal dogs, if you get a not so great show line it’ll be scared of it’s own shadow and probably have genetic hip dysplasia. Personally, I prefer Malinois and Dutch Shepherds, but if you find a good GSD they can be better than a Malinois or Dutchie ‘cause they have a better off-switch, more intelligent, better nerves, and a stronger bite. Honestly though, my biggest problem with the German Shepherd is their shedding.
@@enfreeze ya naw. i have a couple german shepherds. they literally breed and train them for protection. ive been around a fully trained protection german shepherd. same level as a K9, or possibly more. that was the most badass dog ive ever seen. you could command him to attack anyone at any time with just a word command. or command him to visciously bark and not attack with a different command. and he was like a robot as far as being not reactive at all unless you commanded him to. it blew my mind. both of my gsd's arent trained for that, because i dont know how to or have the discipline to, but they wouldnt hesitate to protect us if we were under immediate attack. there is a reason K9's are german shepherds

It IS annyoing when people treat their dogs like dolls, it's not what animals want. Dogs want to roll in the mud and dig holes. Animals deserve all the love and respect and care that humans do, actually even more, because they are not nearly as evil. And this includes allowing them to live how *they* want. No dog wants to have to look through a pair of glasses that are probably covered in grease and fingerprints after the first 5 minutes.

Dogs are cool and all, but once you treat them like a higher being than a dog, you've got issues. Also I think giving the dog basic needs like food, water, and the occasional vet vist is enough for them to live their best life.
You are wrong. That's enough for most pets like rabbits or guniea pigs. Dogs need much more than that. Exercise, a stable home with clear rules and boundaries, social contacts with other dogs, mental stimulation and most of all a positive relationship with their owner.

I would never buy my dog clothes or accessories. Being a 90’s kid your dog living in the house was more than enough privilege for that dog. To me, buying better grade dog food is me telling my dog I love you. That’s enough. I agree about the master part though. You are the pack leader not a parent.
@Victor Murdock dude that’s rough. My parents got rid of our dogs when we were kids. They were both cocker spaniels, great dogs. Ticks were a terrible thing here in the west. I finally was able to get my own dog ( miniature dachshund) as an adult and he got hit by a car. His off the leash training obviously wasn’t up to par. Now I have a rabbit and don’t worry about these things.

I didn’t really grow up with dogs. My husband and his family did. When my husband and I first got our dog, I actually wasn’t a fan. He drove me crazy. At the beginning of the relationship he even got frustrated and said he is jealous of the dog and how I treat him. I said so you want me to treat you like a dependant? Later he offered to take care of my dog when I went on vacation with my family for a week and he couldn't go because he had important work meetings. I came back and woke up in the morning and he and the dog were gone. He took him for a walk then sat under a tree and was reading a book with my dog fast asleep by his side. We are no longer together but are still great friends and he still comes over to say hi and give gifts to my dog and my dog is overjoyed to see him each time.

These people are so vapid and lonely and craving real human interactions... that they love dogs because they're love is essentially unconditional. You can be a complete mess, but your dog loves you (or knows you feed him). An honest person and friend would call out their bullsh*t to help them, but they don't want to hear it. I think this is spot on. Yes, some unquestioning affection can be good, but it isn't constructive and it won't help you fix your life. Only a human can be honest with you and tell you what you need to fix.
I think there’s some bias here in these comments possibly because you guys simply just don’t have personal affections for dogs. The science is (and there’s plenty of literature on this so look it up) dogs evolved WITH humans. The parts of our brain that respond to human children in a maternal or paternal manner are the same areas activated through interaction with a dog. Through feeding the dogs that had a temperament that benefited humans and was compatible with humans they ended up becoming a seperate breed to wolves and over thousands of years from living and hunting with us became the animal we are closest with on this planet. To ignore the significance of dogs and to ignore just how close a relationship you can have with one speaks more to your own inability to develop a relationship with a dog and unwillingness to consider a view outside your own. There’s no reason why your own personal experiences can’t shape your view on it but to say some of the things being said in the comments thread is showing more a lack of knowledge and broader perspective. My friends dad is a combat vet and has a dog who calms him down and can tell when he is having episodes due to PTSD before they happen, same with my dad. At the end of the day each to their own but to turn away from these facts completely is just nonsense.
I’m going to be honest here, I have two dogs that I would literally do anything for, but these people in the tiktoks are definitely not regular dog people. Especially the fact that these dogs are perfectly groomed and are small dogs. The tv and the dog “making” a tiktok is just ridiculous

Dogs aren’t useless. They can guard humans, cattle, hunt, save people from avalanches, detect bombs and drugs. Overall, I agree with the message that people are obsessed. Sure, those can run deep.

Labs and Golden Retrievers are fantastic at this. For people that have sustained psychological trauma and suffer from disorders like depression, etc. dogs are INVALUABLE working as Therapy Dogs. Any dog can fill this role. Here in Ontario, people that suffer from chronic psychological conditions are entitled to a free Therapy dog. In many cases, a loving dog is The PERFECT form of medicine. Dogs are invaluable to Police Officers. Particularly German Sheppard. From sniffing drugs to chasing down fleeing suspects, they provide so much assistance. I have a couple buddies who are cops. Cops love dogs! Justifiably so! Dogs provide unbelievable assistance with Search and Rescue missions. If someone reportedly went missing in a forest, you let the dog sniff some of the individuals belongings / unwashed clothing. Countless missing people have been discovered by Search and Rescue Dogs. The usefulness of a dig cannot be overstated. I grew up with a Collie and then a 'Sheltie'. These 'herding dogs' historically were used by farmers to round up their flocks of sheep. They're unbelievably effective. Pit bulls, Rottweilers, and Dobermans make excellent 'Guard Dogs' to protect your home, or property against intruders. Buskers and Malamutes were used in polar regions as Sled Pulling Dogs. They're fantastic! Bloodhound are fantastic Hunting Dogs. They've been used to hunt down deer, wild boar, etc. for centuries, so people can eat. Usually we associate cats with catching vermin, but Terriers are also very effective at catching unwanted vermin like rats. MOST IMPORTANTLY, dogs are the Greatest Companions a human could ever ask for and all they ask for in return is just your attention. Miserable Matthew also called dogs 'disgusting'. Bullshit! There is no Animal more disgusting than our Species, Homo Sapiens. Many animals kill, but we're the only species that derives sick, sadistic pleasure from hurting, torturing and killing people. No other species does that. Matt is just 'miserable'. He doesn't like dogs because they're a wonderful source of Happiness, and Matt doesn't like seeing people happy.

I agree. My mother put the little yippy dogs above me in the family and it was maddening hearing how my feelings or wants did not matter if it impinged in the lightest on her "babies." Needless to say it was one of a number of issues that left me totally estranged from my mother.
@@lauranolastnamegiven3385 Pets are not a lifelong responsibility if you are talking dogs or cats, humans live 3-8 times longer and in worst case scenarios you can take them to the shelter, rehome them, or even have them put to sleep. If you have a parrot or tortoise, that is a lifelong responsibility. Kids grow up so the responsibility is handed onto them making them quite different from pets and should not be put in the same box except jokingly.

I’ve had my German Shepard, Sam, for 11 years. She’s quiet, sweet, and has never chewed anything other than her own toys. She has never once made a single mess in my house. Not even once. She has saved my daughter’s life twice. I’m not exaggerating, my daughter would be dead if I didn’t have Sam. If I would have seen this video 11 years ago and listened to Matt, my daughter would not be here today. So go ahead and get a dog if you want one, and be a careful and responsible owner that takes the time train the dog.

That's the German Shepherd I thought we were getting, but turns out he chews everything, including us. He also barks endlessly and sees our home as his personal toilet. @@lilblondiebear They are very intelligent, but they’re also natural herding animals. They instinctively try to take the lead on everything. You have to be firm with them. Get a choker collar, the kind with the mean looking metal poker things on the inside. Trust me, they can handle it just fine. Take him for walks and use quick firm jerking motions to force him to stay right at your side the whole time. Never let him get ahead of you. Just focus on that for a couple weeks and he will learn that you are in charge. Then you can branch out to other training. If he’s actually biting people, put him down or give him to someone that lives in the country with no kids. A German Shepard is easily strong enough to rip a child’s arm right off. They can crush adult bones with no effort. It’s not worth the risk.
Same, I hate when they anthropomorphize their animals, they aren’t humans, they have different anatomy, different nutritional needs, different behaviors, etc. I read in a book how Anthropomorphism can hurt an animal. They probably don’t like to wear clothing all the time & mixing random food or force them to eat something different from their natural diet isn’t good. Then they ask why they smell or have indigestion like farts. They watch to many cartoons, dogs, pigs & cats have the intelligence of a 2 o 3 years old. It’s hard work to train an indoor dog.
Yes it’s really weird when people call them their children. Children are young humans of a mother and father. When my rabbit was alive we would make the occasional joke that he’s like an extra child, however we say that about my father as well so I guess the statement works since it’s sarcasm. I saw my rabbit as a friend, and well as a PET. Not my kid.

My roommate in college is like that 100%. Never had pets as a kid and was big into cognitive psychology. All throughout college he would chastise animals calling them stupid and incapable of emotion or love all the while chastising anyone who loved their pets or called their dogs smart. Then during grad school he ends up keeping a stray dog that wandered into his back yard and everything changed. Now he has 2 dogs and 4 cats and calls them all his kids lol
I love dogs l, I'm a dog groomer with an extremely successful business. That being said, there is a problem with some owners that way over baby their dogs rather than respecting what a dog is and actually needs. These are almost always the dogs with extremely high anxiety and behavioral issues.
I think it's that most people have dogs for no reason but to pleasure themselves with them. If that sounds horrible, it should. If you want a dog (or any animal) because they're cute or it'd be fun, stop. These are living creatures with natures that we're deforming so that they serve our purposes.
I love my dogs and all, but they are animals. I hunt with them, and that is what they were bred for. Dogs should be treated as animals, loved but not revered.

There have been times in my life where a dog has been my only friend. The only reason I would tell someone to not own a pet is because their time on earth is short and when they die it will break your heart into a million pieces. @@DeniseTimmons Well, it’s a stupid term. I have an 80 lbs Belgian Malinois, he’s nothing close to a baby. He’s more like a crack head athlete with an IQ of 160. If people saw REAL dogs, suddenly the idea of actually having children would start seeming alluring. I don’t see the point in owning a dog unless you have some goal in it. You have children with the intention of carrying on your bloodline, carrying on the human race, and raising them to be respectable adults. So I don’t see the point in getting dog unless you’re planning on training it to be a working dog or sport dog. Because people treat dogs like eternal babies, people who actually care about dogs see their favorite breeds slowly ruined. I once met this idiot who got a South African Boerboel and basically treated it like the people in these TikToks, I hated seeing the dog famed as one of the most athletic mastiffs ruined. You see hundreds of Malinois that were bred with the hopes of creating a house pet, but usually what happens is the dogs end up with unstable temperaments. We need to stop thinking of dogs as babies, we really should think of them similar to children at least in our intentions with owning them. We should be aiming to improve the breed, improve the individual dog, and raise it to grow up to be the ideal specimen of whatever the dog’s job is.

I hate animals, I've never liked them and I've never wanted a pet. It's not that I wish harm on any animals, I would just like them to stay tf away from me. Five years ago my brother decided he wanted a golden retriever. I was completely against it but he got it anyways. Everyday for two years I thought to myself "geez when tf are we giving this dog away." Even during his early puppy years, I didn't find him cute. Then all of a sudden, something completely flipped. Now, I would seriously given ten years of my life to give my dog ten more years. He is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I still hate all other dogs, and I don't like to interact with them. But my dog is just the cutest, sweetest, most amazing dog to ever exist. My brother did all the work of training him and making him an amazing dog but now I can't even believe that I used to find my dog annoying. I hope Matt experiences this same thing.
As an Amazon delivery driver, I see a lot of weird signs on people's doors. One of the worst is "The cat and its human live here." That one always gets under my skin.

Dude, yes, I dated a girl with a small dog who spoiled the shit out of it. She ended up being borderline psychotic, but I luckily escaped after a couple months haha
I wasn't a dog person until I saw a big pit in a little cage next to where I moved to. After a week I knocked on the door and talked the elderly lady out of him and promised me and my new friend would keep her safe. I know very little about training but he needed none and could read my eyes and was basically a 110 pound goofball that made my depression disappear overnight. He was the only dog allowed on the boardwalk once the locals and police got to know him. RIP Buddy, ten years later and I still miss my friend.
What about combat veterans or seeing eye dogs, do they not save those in need of saving? I know one of the only comforts I had when my best mate of 20 years died suddenly was my dog because I couldn’t stand to be around people, dropping cliches about grief and thinking they know what I should be doing. My dogs company was perfect. She can’t talk yes and her “love” for me is definitely dependant on if I feed her but isn’t that true of everyone in your life that “loves” you? Do they not also assess how you treat them and withdraw if you don’t provide something of value? Your bias to disliking dogs or maybe just the people who have these dogs is glaringly obvious and you seem to have a warped view of the actual relationship humans have that is unique to dogs.
There are a number of cases of dogs waking owners during fires, taking a hit from snakes, bears and other wildlife, sensing seizures and even cancer so they actually can save a life. I mean, obviously not yours since your so anti…nope, my girl would’ve rescued you anyways. As an accountant, I had a client once that we were trying to get out of major tax issues, so we were going through their spending to try to identify areas in their budget that needed work. This couple had 2 dogs that they spent on average about $1,300/month on. When we brought up the topic, they said to not even go there and literally told us if they had the choice between saving their dog or a HUMAN child, they would save the dog every time. I grew up on a farm and loved having dogs growing up, but at the end of they day, it's a dog. Lowering the value of a human life below that of an animal is disturbing.

For me it's not about liking dogs or animals necessarily. It's just that people who are disgusted or get annoyed easily by them tend to be more self centered in my experience. It's part of my red flag meter now because it just hasn't proven me wrong.
People who are neutral about them are different. I have friends who would never have a pet and would be fine if they never were around any pets ever. But they have always been kind to the ones they encounter and never say how awful or annoying they are. They always criticize the owner which is the initial problem anyway. It's just not for them and it's ok.
Then people who are obsessed with their pets like these TikToks also are also apart of my red flag meter. You can be a great pet owner without being obsessed with them. To be honest this is the same as a helicopter parent and by doing this are being bad owners as it causes a lot of anxiety and dependency issues for the pet.
It's totally fine to have your own feelings and opinions. I understand why someone would find dogs annoying sometimes, just like how kids are annoying sometimes. But I definitely judge you for not liking dogs. It's actually a handy tool to know right away whether or not you would be compatible with someone.
I am a dog loather. I like herbivore pets like rabbits and pocket pets and over the years I have lost a few of my pets to bad dog owners letting dogs run or bringing a dog to my house after being told not to because of my animals. My parents had a dog that almost blinded me when it attacked me unprovoked as a 4 year old and I have been bitten a few times when out hiking on nature trails near my house because dog owners don't want to lease their mutts. A person's relationship with dogs is a good compatibility test. If the dog is a running buddy that is always leashed and not in your face when you visit them, then common ground can be found, if not then run away. Dog free people are generally cool and easy to make human connects with because a dog is not in the picture. I considered attitude toward dogs as one of the big must haves with my husband.

American show lines are garbage, West German show lines are good family dogs, DDR are pretty good working dogs, and Czechoslovak police lines are the best. If you get a well bred working GSD they’re phenomenal dogs, if you get a not so great show line it’ll be scared of it’s own shadow and probably have genetic hip dysplasia. Personally, I prefer Malinois and Dutch Shepherds, but if you find a good GSD they can be better than a Malinois or Dutchie ‘cause they have a better off-switch, more intelligent, better nerves, and a stronger bite. Honestly though, my biggest problem with the German Shepherd is their shedding.

@@enfreeze ya naw. i have a couple german shepherds. they literally breed and train them for protection. ive been around a fully trained protection german shepherd. same level as a K9, or possibly more. that was the most badass dog ive ever seen. you could command him to attack anyone at any time with just a word command. or command him to visciously bark and not attack with a different command. and he was like a robot as far as being not reactive at all unless you commanded him to. it blew my mind. both of my gsd's arent trained for that, because i dont know how to or have the discipline to, but they wouldnt hesitate to protect us if we were under immediate attack. there is a reason K9's are german shepherds

It IS annyoing when people treat their dogs like dolls, it's not what animals want. Dogs want to roll in the mud and dig holes. Dogs are cool and all, but once you treat them like a higher being than a dog, you've got issues. Also I think giving the dog basic needs like food, water, and the occasional vet vist is enough for them to live their best life.
You are wrong. That's enough for most pets like rabbits or guniea pigs. Dogs need much more than that. Exercise, a stable home with clear rules and boundaries, social contacts with other dogs, mental stimulation and most of all a positive relationship with their owner.

@Victor Murdock dude that’s rough. My parents got rid of our dogs when we were kids. They were both cocker spaniels, great dogs. Ticks were a terrible thing here in the west. I finally was able to get my own dog ( miniature dachshund) as an adult and he got hit by a car. His off the leash training obviously wasn’t up to par. Now I have a rabbit and don’t worry about these things.

Later he offered to take care of my dog when I went on vacation with my family for a week and he couldn't go because he had important work meetings. I came back and woke up in the morning and he and the dog were gone. He took him for a walk then sat under a tree and was reading a book with my dog fast asleep by his side. We are no longer together but are still great friends and he still comes over to say hi and give gifts to my dog and my dog is overjoyed to see him each time.

I think there’s some bias here in these comments possibly because you guys simply just don’t have personal affections for dogs.
The science is (and there’s plenty of literature on this so look it up) dogs evolved WITH humans. The parts of our brain that respond to human children in a maternal or paternal manner are the same areas activated through interaction with a dog. Through feeding the dogs that had a temperament that benefited humans and was compatible with humans they ended up becoming a seperate breed to wolves and over thousands of years from living and hunting with us became the animal we are closest with on this planet. To ignore the significance of dogs and to ignore just how close a relationship you can have with one speaks more to your own inability to develop a relationship with a dog and unwillingness to consider a view outside your own. There’s no reason why your own personal experiences can’t shape your view on it but to say some of the things being said in the comments thread is showing more a lack of knowledge and broader perspective. My friends dad is a combat vet and has a dog who calms him down and can tell when he is having episodes due to PTSD before they happen, same with my dad.
At the end of the day each to their own but to turn away from these facts completely is just nonsense.

Dogs assist the blind with safely navigating their town or city, as Seeing Eye dogs. Labs and Golden Retrievers are fantastic at this.
For people that have sustained psychological trauma and suffer from disorders like depression, etc. dogs are INVALUABLE working as Therapy Dogs. Any dog can fill this role. Here in Ontario, people that suffer from chronic psychological conditions are entitled to a free Therapy dog. In many cases, a loving dog is The PERFECT form of medicine.
Dogs are invaluable to Police Officers. Particularly German Sheppard. From sniffing drugs to chasing down fleeing suspects, they provide so much assistance. I have a couple buddies who are cops. Cops love dogs! Justifiably so!
Dogs provide unbelievable assistance with Search and Rescue missions. If someone reportedly went missing in a forest, you let the dog sniff some of the individuals belongings / unwashed clothing. Countless missing people have been discovered by Search and Rescue Dogs. The usefulness of a dig cannot be overstated. I grew up with a Collie and then a 'Sheltie'. These 'herding dogs' historically were used by farmers to round up their flocks of sheep. They're unbelievably effective.
Pit bulls, Rottweilers, and Dobermans make excellent 'Guard Dogs' to protect your home, or property against intruders.
Buskers and Malamutes were used in polar regions as Sled Pulling Dogs. They're fantastic!
Bloodhound are fantastic Hunting Dogs. They've been used to hunt down deer, wild boar, etc. for centuries, so people can eat.
Usually we associate cats with catching vermin, but Terriers are also very effective at catching unwanted vermin like rats.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, dogs are the Greatest Companions a human could ever ask for and all they ask for in return is just your attention.

Dogs do have many purposes - protection, companionship, teaching kids responsibility. But they're still dogs.

I agree. My mother put the little yippy dogs above me in the family and it was maddening hearing how my feelings or wants did not matter if it impinged in the lightest on her "babies." Needless to say it was one of a number of issues that left me totally estranged from my mother.
@@lauranolastnamegiven3385 Pets are not a lifelong responsibility if you are talking dogs or cats, humans live 3-8 times longer and in worst case scenarios you can take them to the shelter, rehome them, or even have them put to sleep. If you have a parrot or tortoise, that is a lifelong responsibility. Kids grow up so the responsibility is handed onto them making them quite different from pets and should not be put in the same box except jokingly.

I’ve had my German Shepard, Sam, for 11 years. She’s quiet, sweet, and has never chewed anything other than her own toys. She has never once made a single mess in my house. Not even once.
She has saved my daughter’s life twice. I’m not exaggerating, my daughter would be dead if I didn’t have Sam. If I would have seen this video 11 years ago and listened to Matt, my daughter would not be here today.
So go ahead and get a dog if you want one, and be a careful and responsible owner that takes the time train the dog.

That's the German Shepherd I thought we were getting, but turns out he chews everything, including us. He also barks endlessly and sees our home as his personal toilet. If one of us were dying, I'm pretty sure he'd just try to eat us.

They are very intelligent, but they’re also natural herding animals. They instinctively try to take the lead on everything. You have to be firm with them. Get a choker collar, the kind with the mean looking metal poker things on the inside. Trust me, they can handle it just fine. Take him for walks and use quick firm jerking motions to force him to stay right at your side the whole time. Never let him get ahead of you. Just focus on that for a couple weeks and he will learn that you are in charge. Then you can branch out to other training.
If he’s actually biting people, put him down or give him to someone that lives in the country with no kids. A German Shepard is easily strong enough to rip a child’s arm right off. They can crush adult bones with no effort. It’s not worth the risk.

Same, I hate when they anthropomorphize their animals, they aren’t humans, they have different anatomy, different nutritional needs, different behaviors, etc. I read in a book how Anthropomorphism can hurt an animal. They probably don’t like to wear clothing all the time & mixing random food or force them to eat something different from their natural diet isn’t good. Then they ask why they smell or have indigestion like farts. They watch to many cartoons, dogs, pigs & cats have the intelligence of a 2 o 3 years old. It’s hard work to train an indoor dog.

Yes it’s really weird when people call them their children. Children are young humans of a mother and father. When my rabbit was alive we would make the occasional joke that he’s like an extra child, however we say that about my father as well so I guess the statement works since it’s sarcasm. I saw my rabbit as a friend, and well as a PET. Not my kid.

My roommate in college is like that 100%. Never had pets as a kid and was big into cognitive psychology. All throughout college he would chastise animals calling them stupid and incapable of emotion or love all the while chastising anyone who loved their pets or called their dogs smart. Then during grad school he ends up keeping a stray dog that wandered into his back yard and everything changed. Now he has 2 dogs and 4 cats and calls them all his kids lol

I love dogs l, I'm a dog groomer with an extremely successful business. That being said, there is a problem with some owners that way over baby their dogs rather than respecting what a dog is and actually needs. These are almost always the dogs with extremely high anxiety and behavioral issues.

I think it's that most people have dogs for no reason but to pleasure themselves with them. If that sounds horrible, it should. If you want a dog (or any animal) because they're cute or it'd be fun, stop. These are living creatures with natures that we're deforming so that they serve our purposes.
I love my dogs and all, but they are animals. I hunt with them, and that is what they were bred for. Dogs should be treated as animals, loved but not revered.

There have been times in my life where a dog has been my only friend. The only reason I would tell someone to not own a pet is because their time on earth is short and when they die it will break your heart into a million pieces. If people saw REAL dogs, suddenly the idea of actually having children would start seeming alluring. I don’t see the point in owning a dog unless you have some goal in it. You have children with the intention of carrying on your bloodline, carrying on the human race, and raising them to be respectable adults. So I don’t see the point in getting dog unless you’re planning on training it to be a working dog or sport dog. Because people treat dogs like eternal babies, people who actually care about dogs see their favorite breeds slowly ruined. I once met this idiot who got a South African Boerboel and basically treated it like the people in these TikToks, I hated seeing the dog famed as one of the most athletic mastiffs ruined.
You see hundreds of Malinois that were bred with the hopes of creating a house pet, but usually what happens is the dogs end up with unstable temperaments. We need to stop thinking of dogs as babies, we really should think of them similar to children at least in our intentions with owning them. We should be aiming to improve the breed, improve the individual dog, and raise it to grow up to be the ideal specimen of whatever the dog’s job is.

I hate animals, I've never liked them and I've never wanted a pet. It's not that I wish harm on any animals, I would just like them to stay tf away from me. Five years ago my brother decided he wanted a golden retriever. I was completely against it but he got it anyways. Everyday for two years I thought to myself "geez when tf are we giving this dog away." Even during his early puppy years, I didn't find him cute. Then all of a sudden, something completely flipped. Now, I would seriously given ten years of my life to give my dog ten more years. He is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I still hate all other dogs, and I don't like to interact with them. But my dog is just the cutest, sweetest, most amazing dog to ever exist. My brother did all the work of training him and making him an amazing dog but now I can't even believe that I used to find my dog annoying. I hope Matt experiences this same thing.

My dog is my security system, he also is a good theft deterrent.
I wasn't a dog person until I saw a big pit in a little cage next to where I moved to. After a week I knocked on the door and talked the elderly lady out of him and promised me and my new friend would keep her safe. I know very little about training but he needed none and could read my eyes and was basically a 110 pound goofball that made my depression disappear overnight. He was the only dog allowed on the boardwalk once the locals and police got to know him. RIP Buddy, ten years later and I still miss my friend.

I've been thinking this for so long. It's an obsession, a mental illness. I saw a bumper sticker saying "My dog saved ME."
What about combat veterans or seeing eye dogs, do they not save those in need of saving? I know one of the only comforts I had when my best mate of 20 years died suddenly was my dog because I couldn’t stand to be around people, dropping cliches about grief and thinking they know what I should be doing. My dogs company was perfect. She can’t talk yes and her “love” for me is definitely dependant on if I feed her but isn’t that true of everyone in your life that “loves” you? Do they not also assess how you treat them and withdraw if you don’t provide something of value? Your bias to disliking dogs or maybe just the people who have these dogs is glaringly obvious and you seem to have a warped view of the actual relationship humans have that is unique to dogs.
There are a number of cases of dogs waking owners during fires, taking a hit from snakes, bears and other wildlife, sensing seizures and even cancer so they actually can save a life. I mean, obviously not yours since your so anti…nope, my girl would’ve rescued you anyways. See, definitely better than humans who let a woman run through NYC with a dude chasing with a knife and did nothing. It’s a research study. Go ahead and look it up.
