I made jars of sauce like this with my Italian cousins in NY after my zia passed away. It’s a lot of work and took all day but a lot of fun. It’s typically done in September when the tomatoes are ripe. We finished with 158 jars. Nonna is a jewel. God bless her and protect her. 🍅🥫🍅🥫🍅🥫🍅

My grandfather came from Italy in 1911. My father (1919) was one of 11 kids ( a WWII veteran & hero). I was born in '65, and when I was 13 he taught me how to make the sauce and meatballs. I've shared the secret with my kids and a select few others. I've made a batch tonight and the house smells AMAZING! Family tradition is so important. Share every story with the younger generation to keep our grandparents alive, always.
I had to reply because how right you are....my mamma made best cabbage rolls and borscht..I took for granted that I could just ask her for some or bring the supplies...she loved to make for us..but she's gone now recepie in hand.....
