- These trucks are becoming rare, and it's seldom that you see one in this condition! Dodge used the term "Job Rated" extensively for many years..the idea was to match the capabilities of the truck to the job that had to be done! Dodge had a good reputation for durability..and so you saw a lot of these trucks on the road at the time.
Excelente Pick Up muy hermosa!! Felicidades!
¡Hola Jose!
I love the ram
Ram trucks really are classic, and I think this style is particularly cool! Thanks! :) Jack
Jack, in that square blank is where the optional ashtray and cigar lighter went. Nice to see a basically stock pickup of this vintage - so many have been hot rodded. I would describe this hauler as bright, very, very bright.
Hey, Chester! Thanks for clearing up that mystery! I always feel it's a bonus to see unmodified cars and trucks! Thanks! :) Jack
Nice example of the time when trucks were trucks. Interesting hood set up, the wide white walls are a nice touch to an other wise boring vehicle designed for one purpose - work. Thanks, Jack!
Hey, Terry! Yep....there's no confusion here! These trucks were made for work. What makes this one exceptional is the state of renewal! Thanks! :) Jack
I'm not sure I want to use the term "cute" to describe this '52 Dodge truck... especially with the honorary emblem "Job Rated". But compared to today's huge trucks.. I will take a chance.. and say cute! I love the color combo! The fenders and running boards add an unmatched charm. The wide white wall tires really complete the look with the wheel covers. The very basic interior suggests that in it's day, this was a "no nonsense truck" that could get the job done. Interesting fact about those door latches.. Amazing how many safety features we now take for granted. This is a first class restoration! Glad to see these origional "work horses" preserved! Thanks again Jack! :D
Hey, Karyn! It seems so ironic to me that trucks like this, so plentiful back in the day, are so scarce now! For many years, trucks took a back seat to cars in preservation..I think we're seeing a turning point here! And from the viewpoint of restoration, these vehicles seem to me and easier restore than a car. More accessible, less fancy trim to worry about. Thanks! :) Jack
What a lovely truck. The color looks great on it. And it has a radio! What else can you ask for in a truck?! :)
Just contrast that with today's "requirements"....does it have 360 degree collision avoidance system? :D Things would be a lot safer if drivers simply followed the posted speed limits! Thanks! :) Jack
Back in the late 80's I seen one similar to this year ..It was complete and and driveable ..He wanted $600 and sadly I did not have the money ...This one is a Nice Restoration !!!
That sure would have been a bargain..you have seen what this one was bid up to! These were "no-nonsense" trucks! Thanks! :) Jack
Very cool truck! :D Like the plain look of it! Looks like it was made to work! :D
Hey, guys! Trucks back in the day really were workhorses...and certainly wouldn't be confused with cars...but that was changing when Ford, Chevy, and Studebaker came out with their car/trucks like the ElCamino. Thanks! :) Jack
A REAL pickup. Just beautiful.
It really is beautiful..and a glimpse of what pickups were back in the day! Thanks! :) Jack
Super cool! My dad had one a few years newer than that. I still see some of these trucks for sale at reasonable prices, but of course the ones I'm talking about need some restoration. Really cool trucks!
I'm glad you have a personal connection to this brand truck. I think one of these could be a bargain for restoration providing the prices don't get too high! Thanks! :) Jack
Also worth noting is the factory rear bumper this truck is sporting...it was an option often not checked off......which is why they are rare...owners would more often get one tail light, no bumper. In this era they saw these trucks as dual purpose vehicles...farm tractor and road vehicle. The rear tires were more often heavy treaded tires with street tires in the front and geared with a 4:11 differential. The Federal Aid Hwy Act wasn't until 1956, 4 years away from this 1952 truck, so most country roads were still oiled dirt roads....
Thanks for spelling out the environment these trucks often worked in. Dodge advertised that their trucks were "Job Rated"...that is, the potential buyer would tell the dealer what kind of work was to be done...and the dealer would make recommendations as to which vehicle was best suited to the job. Clearly, the owner was the final modifier of the vehicle to fit his unique situation. Thanks! :) Jack
Wow...$21,000 didn't meet the reserve on this? Someone paid waaay too much for the restoration I'm guessing. It's not even a Pilot House.
Hey, Josh! I like to see the cars awaiting the auction block...you get a chance to at least look them over at your leisure. As to value, prices have really skyrocketed. I wouldn't do well in bidding at an auction! Thanks! :) Jack
Simple functional and good looking Who could ask for aanything more
Hey, John! Yes indeed....at one point, that was the measure of a truck...now it seems to be the quality of the leather upholstery! LOL! Thanks! :D Jack
The modern radio ruined it !
They do have radios now that mimic the appearance of the original...but it's questionable if it's available for this vintage Dodge truck. Thanks! :) Jack
Hey Jack. Nice looking truck. They certainly don't make trucks like this anymore. I've always liked utility trucks. :)
Hey, Jason! Yes indeed...very nice looking and it definitely gets your attention with the choice of color! Thanks! :) Jack
Jack R I agree. Although not a colour I would've chosen, it's still not bad. I like the condition. :)
DODGE 1955 ANO QUE NACIR MUITO LINDO ESSA CAMIONETA
Hola, Leoncio. No había mucha diferencia entre este camión y el modelo de 1955. ¡Sería bueno tener este camión como una conmemoración de tu cumpleaños, gracias! :) Jack
That truck is gorgeous.someone did an excellent restoration on this truck, and the paint is amazing too. Dodge trucks were real workhorses.i've seen identical trucks like this one with the same body, and styling, but without the dodge lettering.i've seen several of them over the years, but with another name on them.i cant remember the name.did dodge make trucks under another name too?.i wonder...
Hey, Lee! Way back, Plymouth made a truck too...but Dodge exported trucks too called the Fargo. That is maybe what you saw. Thanks! :) Jack
Fargo was the twin, used in Canada, Australia, and some other over seas countries, the Fargo was more of a town truck where Dodge was mainly work work work
2:22 Speaker up top and ash tray option below it.....
Thanks...I remember when a cigarette lighter was an option! :) Jack
Back in the day,Dodge trucks all came out with black beds, regardless of cab color. Not sure when that stopped.
That's interesting, John! My guess is that it was cheaper, in time or materials, to do it that way. Thanks! :) Jack
What a great era, thats when men were men & trucks were cooool!
Yes, this truck harkens back to yore, when trucks actually did work and were not for show. Thanks! :) Jack
Back then they listened to the buyer, nowadays they take their orders from the investors who require a quick turn around…parts have a limited life & too much plastic!
reekashade The thing I hate the most is that you may need a very small part..but it is not sold separately..it's part of an ASSEMBLY! What could have cost $3 now costs $50! Thanks! :) Jack
Hi Jack,
The Arvin unit is really the heater. If you scroll near the end, you can see the flex air tubes coming out of the top of the Arvin unit.
bobgford.com/gillypics/52dodgepu/52dodgepu.htm
@00:18 there is a brief glimpse of the hot water hoses going into the firewall, that go to the heater.
Hey, John! Thanks for that...now I know what Arvin refers to. Amazing..it's the same truck! These trucks seem to make the rounds...from Cleveland to Kissimmee! Thanks! :) Jack
That's in amazing condition. If anyone watching this looks at mine next, you would cry.
No matter the condition, at least you have the truck...and that's a big part of the process. Good luck! Thanks! :) Jack
Yeah that's true, work in progress hey. Some things in the American body styling look a tiny bit different to our Australian models. I also noticed the way the interior body strengthening ribs run through the roof are different too. I mean in the panels, my panel don't have them ribs in the rear roof area. Not that it matters, but I thought it was interesting to see that different country, small differences.
That's an interesting point! The ribs probably contribute to rollover strength, but as far as I know there is no standard for that in the U.S. Thanks! :) Jack
Yellow just doesn't look right on this truck
Hey, George! It's not the color Mopar would have chosen, for sure. Thanks! :) Jack
🤩🤩🤩👌👌👌🇸🇦
shukraan lak ya khald! 'ana saeid li'anak 'ahbabt shahinatan dwdj alqadimat hadhih
i have a barn find like this truck super rare. if you know anyone who needs a project. all original.thanks.
Good! I hope you find an interested party! Thanks! :) Jack
All the tubes would have been with the radio itself, the heater is on the passenger side on the footboard that is the factory location. These pilot house dodges are worthless in market, you'll never get out what you put in for even a half restoration. World record for one of these selling was 27,000, where a first generation Chevy k5 blazer has multiple times hit over 200,000
Hey, Dustin! I personally like the looks of these pilot house Dodge trucks...but as you say, they have never appreciated to the extent that Chevy trucks have. I'm glad that these Dodges are still around...some owners are not deterred by low value in the resale market. Typically they have memories of a grandad who had one, or a family business that used one. Thanks. :) Jack
@@coolrides I have a 49 in very rough shape, and parts here are nearly impossible to get, but I'm not giving up, it was bought new in 49 by my great great grandfather who used it on the farm for many many years, parked and forgotten in 77, stollen in 2012, and we found it in one piece in 2015 and had it since. Not a huge Dodge fan but this I'll hold on to
