Jack Lambert, always has been, and always will be my favorite Steeler. Played football exactly the way it should be played. There will never be another. Thanks Jack.
Every defensive player should take note of this video. Every tackle was wrapped up. Players today seem to forget that technology. One of the best ever!!!
I agree. This video should be required viewing from high school through the pro's. Harding tackling, wrapping up no celebrations. Absence of this type of defense is the reason college football and the NFL suck.
Lambert was an absolute beast and a terror on the field! Look at his tackles, always clean, wrapped up on legs or upper body! That’s when you could head hunt, but he didn’t need to!!! His athleticism was freakish on how good he actually was!!!
He spoke to our Football Team at FSU back in 1983. He said to the defensive guys.."Play angry. Play like all of the guys on the other side just kicked your dog." Great line from a great LB
Such a joy to watch his career.. Raider fan back then.. great memories. Great games.. old school TOUGH! always took the correct angle to tackle!! Smart smart player!! One of the reasons Pittsburgh was so damn good!!
What an excellent highlight reel of the ultimate, defensive intimidator. Watching Jack play throughout the 70’s was a thrill ride as he was a constant nightmare for the opposition. If you somehow escaped our awesome front four, you wouldn’t escape him.
These men were true gladiators back then today’s football players would not have lasted in that time.Money and greed has truly truly ruined today’s football.
Didn't call him "Jack The Splat" for nothing. Was one of the most feared Linebackers who played the game. And was a pleasure to watch him earn that title.
One of my favorite steelers..great player..played the game hard and with intensity...these premaddona athletes now...could learn something from him..total team guy
That is one of the best highlights reels I have ever seen. Fantastic work. My favorite memory of Lambert was when he chased Tarkington. Lambert had run Tarkington out of bounds and gave him a push that Tarkington didn't like. So, when Lambert turned to go back to the field, Tarkington wound up and hit Lambert in the back of the helmet with a 90MPH spiral. I thought he was going to kill Fran, but he got away to the safety of his teammates.
Dick Butkus...Jack Lambert...Joe Schmidt...Chuck Bednarik...Lawrence Tylor... Willie Lanier...Ray Nitschke...Tommy Nobis...(who belongs in the HOF)...REAL LB'S.
One of the greatest love the black and gold one of the best teams ever been a fan since 1965 first TV we ever had I'm from Parkersburg wva and I watched every game I could ❤love u steelers
I was never a Steelers fan, but had the ultimate respect for Lambert.... If I was building a defense, he would be one of my first selections without doubt... what he might have lacked in size compared to other linebackers, he more than made up for in tenacity and aggression... he was one player you did not want to be pissed at you... bad enough you have to play against him much less playing against him when he has you as a target
As a life long Cowboys fan as a kid "58" gave me nightmares during bed time . One night I woke up screaming my father came in to ask "son what is it" The Wolfman, Dracula , Mummy or Frankenstein ? I replied, he was meaner than The Wolfman looking like Dracula and bigger than Frankenstein ...... It was "Lambert 58"
In a defence with HOF & All Pros from the D line to the secondary Sports Illustrated called him " The Man of Steel " . That says it all really this video just shows you why. Go Hawks
Hard hitter who was strong, fast and agile. His tenacity and aggression was almost hostile. Players had to give thought of what lurked behind “The Steel Curtain”
And he did it on Rock Hard Astroturf.....that's like playing Tackle Football in Your Church Parking Lot.....( I play Hockey, and I Played Street Hockey on an Asphalt Church Parking Lot on Mid August.....it was a take no prisoners, no refs showdown. There were no chains, guns or knives, but both teams left with black imbedded in their gear and skin) Lambert got that done Every Week
Mr. Jack Lambert was a true student of the game. He began studying game films the day after he was drafted and never stopped. His knowledge of the opponents he faced was encyclopedic. In addition, his feet were so big, when he stood on his toes, he was over seven feet tall, and could easily see into the opponent's backfield. When asked what made Lambert so great, one sportswriter proclaimed, "Jack was extremely fast---his time for the 40 was a state secret---and his first step was always in the right direction." If the Steelers drafted Jack Lambert today, they would bulk him up to no end. Instead of playing at 220, he would be playing at 255 to 260, and people's heads would be coming off.
When Lambert slammed Cliff Harris to the ground after patting Roy on the the helmet and told him to get his lame off the field I seem to remember not a single Cryboy came to his defense. The Steelers had the greatest defense that ever played the game
The tackling in today's game is absolutely horrific both on the college level and in the pros. In addition, on offense I have never seen SO many 5 yard procedure penalties EVER!
Fact#1: he was 6'5 220 !!! Fact #2 You know you're truly scary when the Defensive linemen on your OWN team are afraid of you Fact #3 through infinity One of the all-time best
Jack Lambert, when l was in high school l like to play linebacker l was 6"3 190.00 back in 1971, l played d D Fence, but my coach had me play nose tackle, Jack was the man. l was a Stellar fan but , change to Eagles. Thanks Jack .
Lambert is my all time favorite football player. I was a young man when he was in his prime. Inspired me to excell. He truly loved the game, and gave 110%. I can’t picture him being disrespectful to our nation and its hero’s. You ROCKED, Jack!! Thankyou!👍🇺🇸❤️
I love Jack but Bo is from Shreveport, Louisiana. Land of Elvis , Hank Williams Sr and Jr, and my Family, Terry Bradshaw, Stan Humppries, Bubby Brister, etc, etc, etc
Jack Lambert, always has been, and always will be my favorite Steeler. Played football exactly the way it should be played. There will never be another. Thanks Jack.
I loved watching Lambert, Green, and the rest of the Steel Curtain defense hammer away at their opponents. What a time to be a kid and a Steelers fan.
Every defensive player should take note of this video. Every tackle was wrapped up. Players today seem to forget that technology. One of the best ever!!!
Lolololol the very first 2 were "modern" hits with the forearm extension
Correct , today everyone tries to bump you down. No clue how to tackle.
I agree. This video should be required viewing from high school through the pro's. Harding tackling, wrapping up no celebrations. Absence of this type of defense is the reason college football and the NFL suck.
They have forgotten how to tackle, I watch , and sometimes lose my mind over the failure to wrap them up
Now instead of taking care of business, they either run next to the opposition or give up entirely and say fuck that.
"I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest…..
If you can’t take it, you should not play".- Jack Lambert.
He was the Best Ever!! Better than Butkus, Taylor and Lewis.
It rewarded Herschel.
Easy to say when you're doing the hitting... and then the players sued the nfl for cte.
@@user-qr7ee2cp4y Let them wear skirts and play flag football. Football is a contact sport can stand a hit play tennis or something like that.
@@colindetrick7930 take off the helmets and pads and let them play real man's football

Great Comment
Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, and Robert Brazille- the best ever
Jack Lambert passion and intensity are 2nd to none!! #SteelersLegend
I'm 68 and have been a steelers fan for as long as I can remember. Lambert is number 1.
Lambert was an absolute beast and a terror on the field! Look at his tackles, always clean, wrapped up on legs or upper body! That’s when you could head hunt, but he didn’t need to!!! His athleticism was freakish on how good he actually was!!!
Oh I love me some Jack Lambert Steelers footage!!! Dude was the baddest player in the history of the NFL!!!
I never get tired of watching Lambert through Cliff Harris to the ground during Superbowl X
Me either and lambert went crazy after that!!!... ended up with like 14 solo tackles...
I'm a Dallas Cowboys all-time faithful...but see seeing Lambert win all 4 four of his Superbowl Rings, is thee best linebacker evr.
I look back on the 1970s, the Cowboys were the only NFC team that managed to win a Super Bowl that decade. Even they couldn't get past the Steelers.
He brought everything every play. He WILL put ANYONE on the ground with force BADASS!!!
“If I was ever in a barroom brawl and needed somebody to go back‐to‐back with me, I'd want Jack Lambert to be the man.”
- Mean Joe Greene
He spoke to our Football Team at FSU back in 1983. He said to the defensive guys.."Play angry. Play like all of the guys on the other side just kicked your dog." Great line from a great LB
I met him a few years ago at a card show & believe me he could STILL play !!!!!!
Such a joy to watch his career.. Raider fan back then.. great memories. Great games.. old school TOUGH! always took the correct angle to tackle!! Smart smart player!! One of the reasons Pittsburgh was so damn good!!
I loved watching those games
One of the greatest to wear a Steeler jersey. He was a ball hawk and a force of nature.
You can tell that he really loved the game. I love the way he body tackles with his hands open, always ready to grab 'em and send them to the dirt😂
Yep he hits hard but also has good form with his tackling. As did Jack Ham. Both Jacks are supposedly healthy with no CTE issues.
That's what it's all about the game and the love for it
@@Yeomannnyeah something screwy with the cte
My favorite player of all time❤
He’s the reason why I first started watching football when I was a kid and made me want to play
What an excellent highlight reel of the ultimate, defensive intimidator. Watching Jack play throughout the 70’s was a thrill ride as he was a constant nightmare for the opposition. If you somehow escaped our awesome front four, you wouldn’t escape him.

I couldn't agree more 👏
I agree 100 percent. Now they just wanna get paid. Their team could 0 and 17, they don't care.
I’m a Jet fan and Loves Lambert’s style of play. Man could play in any era and play great.
Play like that today and flags will be flying. That was the best era of football.
Didn't call him "Jack The Splat" for nothing. Was one of the most feared Linebackers who played the game. And was a pleasure to watch him earn that title.
The heart and soul of that great defense

Top 3 guy all time for sure.
Pittsburgh was indeed The Steel Curtain with Jack Lambert.

The greatest line backer , in NFL history. God bless you sir.
Was a pure BEAST! BEST LINEBACKER IN STEELERS HISTORY.
Its a blast to watch him play Football .
The best defensive player God ever created.
The best ever. This guy must absolutely hate todays game, with all the you can’t do this or that and non stop showboating
Jack Lambert is now employed as a Pennsylvania 'Game Warden'.❤
Yeah, look how it pushed James Harrison out. Flags were always flying.
Dick Butkus...Jack Lambert...Joe Schmidt...Chuck Bednarik...Lawrence Tylor... Willie Lanier...Ray Nitschke...Tommy Nobis...(who belongs in the HOF)...REAL LB'S.

Extraordinary players can imprint their attitude on an entire defense and go from great team to a legendary one
Part of the best team ever fielded.
I was never a Steelers fan, but had the ultimate respect for Lambert.... I'll give all the credit in the world to any man who had the nerve to even think about running into that backfield.
As a life long Cowboys fan as a kid "58" gave me nightmares during bed time . One night I woke up screaming my father came in to ask "son what is it" The Wolfman, Dracula , Mummy or Frankenstein ? Best linebacker ever!
Excellent! A lot of new footage. I like the early shot of a hit on Pastorini when he takes a swing with his right arm!
Lambert and Ham was probably the best lb duo in the history of the NFL
Along with Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson .
Jack was not only powerful but he had speed to boot!
In a defence with HOF & All Pros from the D line to the secondary Sports Illustrated called him " The Man of Steel " . That says it all really this video just shows you why. Go Hawks

The legend
Wouldn’t want to be hit by him lol

The great Count Dracula... The greatest linebacker of all time...
My all-time favorite!
From a lifelong Cowboys fan….
Lambert was a baaaaad mothafucka! 🔥
I´ve been a Cowboy´s fan since 1976, but when I played Middle Linbacker I wanted to be like "Count Lambert".
El temible conde Drácula, la época dorada de los steelers la nunca igualada cortina de acero , y para acabar de redondear está maravillosa música
Referente, el mejor acerero de todos los tiempos. EL CONDE.
Lambert was terrific! Natural baller with instincts, toughness and mean!
My second favorite linebacker ever! Only Lawrence Taylor tops the list. Imagine those 2 on the same team!
this is when football was football not the girly stuff ya see today
all time great steeler!!
Hard to believe his career was ended by turf toe in Cincinnati. Was an inspiration to watch in those days.
"That'll cool your ass off." Jack Lambert
The toughest man to ever put a uniform on
the nfl needs to have all players watch this
He was my football idol 😂😂
Crazy thing is he's doing this at 218lbs! I thought for sure I would see that Wendell Tyler shot that almost sent him into the box seats.

A greatest defensive player...
The Ultimate Bad Boy ... Best to Ever do It ... Period.
He said QBs should wear a dress. Great Linebacker 👍👍
A Steelers fan since the Immaculate Reception and a high school coach, Lambert is the quintessential inside LB
Jack Lambert one of the best to play the game of football. Great at shedding blockers, going into the running lane and tackling
Pretty good at interceptions too.
Jack was my hero when I was a kid. I wore my number 58 jersey at school with pride.
The best of the best
He's the best
Looked like a Hockey Player Enforcer, in a Football Uniform. The Teeth - it was the teeth. Jack looked like the perfect Linebacker.
Yeah!! I think he was known on NFL films as “Count Dracula “ in cleats!

Jack Lambert is the kind of guy who could score a touchdown and still be mad about it.

*Could you imagine Jack Lambert playing for ANY other team than the Pittsburgh Steelers ???*
ONE OF THE GREATEST IF NOT THE GREATEST. HAM FROM THE STEELERS ALSO. HAND OVER THE HEART THATS A MAN WHO LOVES THE USA.
