When in Norway visiting family, we got to see barrels still being made like this at the Tønnegarden in Holmefjord. They also make yummy food like rauddravle. Worth a visit.

The waterfronts in the sound between Haugesund and Karmøy is still recognizeable 53 years later. That building may still stand there today.

Slackening the hoops opens the staves up enough so you can remove the end/lid.
