Anyone else triggered by her saying LP not L&P?
I wish I could like this comment more than once omg
Omg yessss
OMG! yes
Connor McDonald lol yes
Same! Fellow NZ here
First rules of pies -
Don't go to Macca's. Go to a bakery.
trueeeeeee ghee
Casey Magon nah go to the gas station bro
@Sydney Patrick Marsh nothing beats a fresh pie ;)
Facts
Ben Ba Booble I strongly disagree.
haha she kept saying LP NOT L&P ahah I was cringing x
I seriously thought I was the only one cringing at that!
😂😂
I never replied how much that bugged me. until I heard someone say it like that
Greer Newman same
Your first name is Greer so is mine!!!
If you wanna try l&p, you gotta buy it from the bottle, that version is postmix, basically maccas cordial, and isn't as good as the real stuff
Hannah Grace Hainsworth yeah! They add syrup and it’s always at the bottom the one from like four square and that are pure😂
Yeah it's and L&P from a can or small bottle for me or not at all. The mixer L&P is usually not very nice.
True
Absolutely, I would literally buy a glass bottle of L&P and drink it in McDonald's with my Big Boss.. I dislike McDonald's drink... But yeah....
The lemon soda is called L&P = Lemon and Paeroa, only available in New Zealand. Interesting fact Paeroa is a small town here in the North Island, not a flavour...
We got L&P here in Australia too
MrRamyon74
The Paeroa was a mineral water well in Paeroa...., they (100 yrs ago) added lemon juice to it... hence Lemon & Paeroa.... L&P

9:15 Fun Fact: Kiwi's would cringe at how this pie was handled 😂
Can confirm. Am kiwi. Did cringe.
I sure did ahaha
I was like just bite it to see what’s in there lol
Yup me too lol
Same lol but at least they tried
McDonald's isn't where you go for good food in NZ. You'll get better pies in bakeries usually. L&P = Lemon & Paeroa (Paeroa is it's place of origin) and is world famous (but only in NZ)
True that Maccas only really for those lazy feeds for the kids or to be honest drunk nights😂 maccas ain't that good pls don't get their pies or burgers from there go to a local takeaway and a bakery they are way better and cheaper👍 Looking for the best food in New Zealand? They reside in the houses around Aotearoa! Hehe Home cooking is where it's at here in NZ❤️
Yes
Right. Rather go to Bp for a pie lol
@@JOSE-dn8uj most takeaways are owned by asians anyways so not that kiwi lol
I still remember the add with the guy licking the road in Paeroa
Didn’t blow on your pie. That’s the number 1 rule.
I almost cringed thinking she was going to burn her whole mouth off tbh
Those BP service station pies are thermonuclear

Lmao people getting excited by frozen coke is so weird
Ayee
Abby Weeks I know right
Lol I thought they had it everywhere else
I live in NZ and i prefer the McFloats (blueberry)
Aye had an exchange student from chilli and he loved frozen coke
Georgie pie used to be its own franchise then maccas brought them out and now brought back the pie in their stores but not as good as they used to be
Yeah interesting
Rip to the $1 Georgie pies from when it was its own shop
mary-anne Kenny solid staunch Georgie pie
Bought them out. Not brought.
You guys are awesome 😂 I notice a lot of Americans say “ON the north (or south) island” but Kiwis typically say “IN the north island” instead. No idea why... just a funny little linguistic difference!
Hey, yeah...
I was thinking that too! hehe
i never wanted to throw my hands at someone more in my whole life

The hokey pokey ice cream is actually not honey flavoured. In most cases it has small balls of goey toffey
I live in New Zealand, and it does have honey in it. Not actual honey, but honeycomb toffee. (Hokey pokey is my favourite ice cream lol)
If it helps, when working on the docks scooping ice-cream for tourists, we were taught to explain it as caramel and honeycomb in vanilla ice-cream.

As a New Zealander watching this video it just makes me laugh so much 😂
Oh hell yes. Lol.
The LP got me. I was so annoyed how they would say that instead of L&P
Same here bro..... also slightly triggered 😂
When did you drink the lemon cleaner to draw comparison?!
Kiwi burger isn’t that great at all, you could’ve had a really good burger at any fish and chips shop - beetroot and egg is typical burger additions.
Mince and cheese is a staple in nz 😂any bakery would offer a much better one too 😋
Yeah, some takeaway burgers I've had are way better than the ones at maccas.

Hey just so you know, we always say 'in' the North or South Island, rather than 'on', because they're so big. It's like how you wouldn't say you're 'on Australia' or 'on Hokkaido', because even though they're islands they're just too big to really be 'on'. Nice job with saying 'the' North Island though; soo many foreigners don't pick up on that. *L&P* (short for Lemon & Paeroa, the place it was invented) is an iconic NZ drink beloved by kiwis, just like Pineapple Lumps and Whittaker's chocolate.
Michael Heliotis fun fact that some pineapple lumps are made in australia
I didn't know people said in instead of on! Lived here 7 years and never noticed haha i always say on
Yes L&P is a kiwi drink, stands for Lemon and Paeroa. Fun Fact: Paeroa is a small town in NZ not a flavour.
Your name is my life quote.
Kiwi burgers are much better home-made, or even from fish n chip shops.
Those are the best
In Levin we have a shit load of fish & chips shops that make home made burgers and they are the best.
Place in Whangarei that's about the size of a small motorhome called "The Oasis" and they make the most amazing burgers. Of all the takeaway burgers I've had they're easily my favorite.
LP is Lemon and Paeroa (catchphrase ‘World Famous in New Zealand). Paeroa is a town in The Waikato where, originally, spring water was used to make the drink.
We normally call it L and P
Pretty minor but the correct pronounciation of Taupo is like 'Toe-paw'. It is a reasonably recent push to pronounce Maori words correctly so it is still about 50/50 even with kiwi's as to which way they say it.
TheWhistler1967 it’s nothing like toe paw. It’s ta-u-po. Don’t care what the academics say.
@@17garm what on earth are you on about mate?
In an American accent "Toe Paw" would still sound wrong though
In my experience, Americans sound really strange trying to pronounce it 'toe-paw' so it's best to just leave them pronouncing it how they are.

You're supposed to snort the frozen coke with the straw, everyone in NZ knows that 😂
I like to go to Kelly Tarltons and put the straw straight up a sea turtles nose when I'm finished, so they feel for at home as if they were in the wild.
That mountain you saw from Taupo is mount Ngauruhoe, also known as mount Doom from Lord of the Rings.
That pie is a little piece of NZ history! If you noticed the logo on the wrapper it said 'Georgie pie' which was an iconic NZ fast food chain that sold pies of all flavours, for only $1, back in the 80's. McD's bought them out in the 90's and decided to introduce a pie option a few years ago in honour of the brand.
They should still be $2 or $3 based on the price increases, since the early 90s until now, on cheese (from $5/kg in the 90's to $9/kg today), meat ($6/kg to $18/kg), and flour, but they are over $4 now.
By the way, every burger in New Zealand doesn't have beetroot and egg. Our burgers normally consist of lettuce, tomato (maybe), cheese, patty, and sauce.
true - but a *decent* kiwi burger should have beetroot. they can still be found
@@juliaconnell Ah. I hate beetroot and egg normally, so I'll have to avoid anything to do with kiwi burgers like the plague.
@@rubbishwithisabella1455 - your loss hun, your loss with the beetroot (egg not so much)
American : New Zealand has the best pies in the world

Talks for a few minutes:
"So yeah, this fry is cold..."
The Paeroa part of L&P originally was a mineral water from that town, but that was over 60 years ago, and it is generally just ordinary water with CO2 now.
Agreed, I used to drink it 50 years ago when it was a smoother mellow taste.
Wait... maccas is a NZ word? I'm so used to it u kinda forget
Problem with Maccas?
Try McTuckys
They do say it in UK and Aussie too I'm pretty sure so more a not american one
It's Aussie slang, but for some reason here in NZ we decided to play copycat 😂
if you dont realise,on the box of a kiwi burgar, has a song relating to the kiwi burgar, and its bascially what us kiwis love and have grown up in nz knowing and learning, our little country has alot to offer.i do hope u enjoy our country and our lovely kiwis are good to you,why your here,as for pies, its finding the right bakery, not all bakerys hv nice pies...just a headsup, which in nz aka new zealand, headsup mean, and a word, basically letting someone know something, but at times you may here heads up,from someone or somewhere in nz. you guys are cool and its really funny watching you guys on here.we do have a beautiful country, and i hope you get to experience it all, safe travels,as you travel around our country.
Pies are way better at gas stations and dairies here in New Zealand!
Also lots of times in this video I wanted to teleport there slap them and correct them😂
Don’t know what kinda Maccas they went to... but I know that our maccas has not got fresh ingredients and stuff 😂😂
Macas had to make kiwi burgers because their food couldn't keep up with

That’s so cool! I love McDonald’s around the world lol in a few different countries we went to they had so many vegan/vegetarian options!! In the USA there are none!
Moreganplease none in Nz either unless you just get chips 😭 (they don’t fry or baste them in animals fat here)
Our fillet of fish is amazing. They don't even tell you what fish it is, like in the UK, it's just good fish. Yum

@@akashicisis in New Zealand? Only time I've had one there was when they brought in the thing where you could just custom order something on a machine but there we no vegetarian patties.
@@emmagorowski1479 no patties, but it's basically everything except meat. All the salads. Cheese and egg optional. Has been on the menu since at least the 90s, but I haven't been vegetarian in a while so maybe it's got buried in all the other options cos the menu used to be a lot smaller overall.
Macdonalds is nicknamed Maccy D’s in the uk. I wish our Macdonalds was like that in the uk. Our beef burgers are like cardboard and they look like they have been thrown around the room. Beetroot on almost anything is common in Australia and New Zealand.
I'm from the UK and have always called it Macca's like they do in New Zealand. I guess it's very similar.
The Georgie pie you cannot find everywhere. Was a popular pie back in the days, and they have brought it back and only available at macca’s now ☺️

Shinning us [kiwi] in such greatness...great forum to do so 👍👍 You guys are great!!! Chur 😎
That Pie is called a "Georgie Pie" which used to be a NZ fast food restaurant back in the 90's that McDonalds bought out. They used to have varieties like mince, steak, minced steak & cheese (the one you got), sweet&sour pork, chicken & vege, sweet apple, and blueberry apple pies. McDonalds brought back some of the Georgie Pies because of demand from kiwis.
They were so popular because of the pastry, and they were only $1 for the small (the one you had), and $2 for the large. So for $5 you could get 4 x steak mince and cheese pies and a small fries. Every kid back in the 90's used to go there after school and they used to do childrens birthday parties as well.
ok way back when we use to have pie pestaurants called georgy pies it was actually the best place to go when as a teen and couldnt afford much and thoses pies use to be $1 had many different types of pies ,then for some reason got brought out and for years nothing . then people started reminising about how good ths pies where ,then maccas started to sell them ,i guess maccas brought georgie pies out lol but its not the sam as way back then, another food icon you might wanna try is a sunday and dip your fries in your sundae its delish .
Georgie Pie took out a lot of debt in order to expand throughout the country. They were operating at a profit, but not by much and had close to no cash on hand. Given they were expanding so fast and taking away market share from McD's, McDonalds bought the debt from the lending banks and then foreclosed on the debt, forcing GP out of business. It's an example of the worst characteristics of international corporates.
Beetroot and egg is popular as a takeaway burger from the local Fish N Chip store. So thats why Mac D's has it as their Kiwi Burger. The DC3 was a top dresser before it's retirement. Enjoying your videos 👋😁👍
@JoyDivision1976 I live near Hamilton Airport, PAC has the Cresco which is another fine example of a multipurpose aircraft. Thanks for the comment👍
Yup!!!! Its a kiwi thing to have egg and beetroot....most takeaways when you ask for a burger it has egg and beetroot

L and p.. Lol lemon and paeroa is the drink :)
Nice food review ! you guys are good at this, should do more of it :)
Hokey pokey isn't just found in NZ but I've only ever heard it called that in NZ, crunchies are also a British chocolate bar and its the exact same thing except on the wrapper instead of saying hokey pokey covered in chocolate it calls it honeycomb and they are essentially the same things.
Beetroot in a burger is something I thought everyone around the world had lol It adds so much fresh taste to the burger and it helps level out the greasy flavour the meat brings.
Taupo said like - Toe Paw :) glad you enjoyed our country
Unfortunately most kiwis don't pronounce it correctly either.
That only makes sense with a kiwi accent though. "Toe paw" in a US accent would sound very wrong.
I like your vlogs you guys. You mix fun and detailed information with aplomb. All of a sudden I am so into NZ, thanks to you!
Ashley, I am totally the same about the lemon. There's a certain lemon flavor/scent that I can't handle because it reminds me of Lysol! But lemoncello I love :)

Lake Taupo is pronounced 'toe-paw'. Ordinary, everyday beef here in NZ is all grass fed which I think is completely different to the US where you have to search it out - so yes - something to write home about! The huge mountain you mentioned at 10.32 is called Mt Ruapehu and was the location of Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings. Hope you were told that at the time - a sacred mountain to the local Iwi (tribe) and a special place for all of us Tolkein fans.
i hope u get to try hangi...its food cooked in the ground or a puia which is cooked food in natural hot spring. I personally do taste the difference between a big mac and a kiwi burger, but everyone to there own taste. Welcome to aotearoa, new zealand

L&P - refers to Lemon & Paeroa - a town in the Waikato.
for the kiwis here - before there was L&P - there was Lemon & Te Aroha -
Te Aroha was a spa town from 1882, when its hot pools were first
developed by the government, until well into the 20th century. People
suffering from a range of ailments came to Te Aroha to bathe in the
curative waters, and to drink them.

The reason for the frozen coke is cause during summer it gets really hot so its refreshing
Hmm I think you can only get a kiwi burger in new Zealand/nz
I've been to that McDonalds in Taupo. It's pretty cool you can go inside that plane, and they have little diner tables where you can eat your food. Seems unsanitary but it's regularly cleaned so it's 👌

Hi Kahu!
Lemon & Paeroa (L&P) is very Nz drink. I reaaaallly loved it when I stayed in there. I really miss that drink!
Can confirm egg and beetroot are more common burger ingredients here. I am not a beetroot person myself but I definitely love a good egg on my burger.
What part of the state's ru from
what is LP? It's L&P
L&P is a traditional kiwi soft drink or fizzy. It was made or established in a small town *Paeroa* (pie-rawr-ah) (but with the rawr, you roll you tounge). The lemony taste is usual, as it's suppose to be a lemony fizz in your mouth :)
You can make hokey pokey super easy! Its really fun and takes like 5 minutes.
A good thing to mention is that there's no tipping here and sales tax (15% GST) is included in advertised prices. This helps to explain why food and some things seem a bit more expensive compared to the US.
Hi guys welcome to New Zealand I hope you have an awesome time the more south you go the better it gets be sure to go Able Tasman keep safe and the north and south ferry is amazing can see desks dolfins
Kiwi burger has a song to go with it (you can probably find it on youtube) and the song is written on the top of the box
Burgers in NZ were originally made at Burger Bars in the 1960s and they had a large Bun toasted, beef, beetroot, cheese, lettuce, mayo, tomatoe, onion, fried egg ,and Watties tomatoe sauce. Maccas made their version to replica this a few years back when they started selling the Angus grass fed Beef and due to public demand for a Kiwi burger.
Crunchie you can find any where in the world they just call it hoki poki in nz.
