I have been riding the Spleene Door for 10 years I can do about 5 to 6 knots with a 22M Foil kite and about the same low-end wind range with a 15M Airush Ultra and a hydrofoil (Shinn P wing) much more fun with the foil! I am a 100kg.
Great attempt. I've got my NIMITZ board... is a trapezoid, 65 cm wide , 140 cm heelside, 170 cm toeside, when you stand up the board is like an air-carrier, when you lean your body back it's like a normal twin tip board. It works!
You guys need to work on your foil kite technique first thing is depower the kite in light winds second on the upstroke u must push the bar out a little to let the kite breathe and accelerate. It was definately doable on the twintip.
We agree with David L, get that foilkite flying on the front lines and low-end range will be drastically improved: th-cam.com/video/XjePFO-RPeU/w-d-xo.html
André, I use a twin-tip in 5/6 knots but not with this kind of kite. You need a lower Aspect ratio to do so otherwise the kite is too fast. I use a Kitech FRS 15 UL (28 m lines) with an Easyboard 50/80 (188 x 52,5 cm) I have designed. It works perfect with huge upwind capacity. It has 5 fins. I use this material in my school too. Have a look on my website: kiteinside.com/recherche-et-developpement/
Great video guys. By the way, to obtain an ultra light wind kiteboard for a budget and a board that does not break, build one yourself as I did, 19mm pine board edge finger jointed planks together, shaped it, West System resin coat to seal it, from memory it is a 1.7m long board. What mast length were you using for the hydrofoil?
Love your reviews! Funny and informative. Please do a review of the New Ozone single skin foil kite. Also, please check in with Monjet to see how far they’ve progressed. Not much on their website. Thanks! And keep fun coming!
Hi Jay, yes good idea. The single skins are really a gamecha.... we use them a lot in our school. About the hybrid single skin we know a few brands already experienced with that concept. But the Monjet is the only one (that we know) came to life.
Buyers Beware! Spleene 2018 Monster Door delivered with damage and defects. Edges were crunched over, as there was no protective packing material included to protect the board during shipment. Furthermore, shortly after initial use, the board split at the fin. Spleene refuses to take responsibilty for shipping damages and manufacturing defects.
Hi, nice video! Did You ever try to ride Your 166 twintip with a handle Wing? With your experience, do you think it is possible to ride a lightwind twintip kiteboard powered by a wing? Thank you in avance for Your reply.
Honestly I’ve never seen ever anybody riding with Twintip at 6 knts....did you actually measure the wind or guess? I’m 95 kg and could stay upwind at 10knts with a 166 Spleene Door and 17m Core xr3. I sold the door because it had not enough flex in the tips - my knees started to hurt after a few minutes when it got choppy at 13-14 knts. Now riding the Nobile Flying Carpet - lighter and rides like a regular board ( not like a table...;-). I think my lower limit is determined by the kite - the soft kites are more stable and safe to fly at below 10 knts than a tube kite ... But risk remains: when wind drops a little bit, kite may drop on water and impossible to relaunch... maybe time for the kiter to show his/her swimming skills
it is 2450g ( weight of decent hamburger) according to spleene. and is recommanded for heavy manly man ;) from spleen site; "In comparison with the Carbon Pro Door 59, the Carbon Pro Monster Door is recommended for all heavier riders with +85kg or everyone who searches for maximum ultra lightwind kiteboarding performance.""
i can assure wind for beginning of the video was more as 6 kt.. i have sonic 2 18 and its bare minimum to ride on stylus 150x45 2019 for 86kg ride is 9kt.... biggest problem after water start in low wind to regain kite power after deep dive without staling leading edge - twin tip cannot be pumped as we know....... compfortable ride starting from 11kn..... on 13kn up i switching on 136 where i get fun.... kite is on 21m lines, i dosnt see benifit to use longer lines on foil kite- this video prove it....... sonic 2 is cracking kite, but not magic, but 17,5 solus 2 not have any chance to compeat with sonic 2 .......

Looks like dogs had most fun here!

@@Kitefinder That were two tips. So a twintip.
Yeah I find out by myself.

Except, I don’t think monjet is selling any.
I'll ask him
That’s not a twin tip, it’s a garage door with foot straps 😂 Great effort though...

@@Dr-iy9nr wow. 2.5kg for that size. Fantastic ! And how much do you think it costs...around 2000 euros. The price of many hamburgers
Ronagery no if you google it you can find for half that amount. Don’t know if you get pads and straps with it
How you can do this test without a anemometer?
most pure way would be viewing the
observations on windfinder but it's an on the spot approximately most of the time
