I’m a firefighter in the south Chicagoland suburbs. I was on shift the other night when this happened. Me and the crew had your livestream going and turned NBC off due to your stellar coverage. Thank you for outstanding coverage Max! We saw a possible tornado spin up a few hundred yards across from our station. Saw multiple power flashes and rotation in the sky with a possible funnel. I am assuming it caused Moderate damage due to the calls we responded too in that general area right after it passed. Moderate damage to homes and many trees into buildings

Thank you, from the south side of Chicago. Power returned a short while ago, and watched the replay of the time period that we were in basement. We had no idea. Holy crap!
We are in NYS so not in these storms that Max was covering last night, We got a tornado warning and my husband started saying, "Put on Max, put on Max" He is the default trusted go-to in our house. It's the degree to which he reads the radar. And our guys have to keep apologizing for cutting into the seniors game shows. l only put on local because our storms were not expected so I wasn't sure he'd be live. Put this replay on late night and saw Max had a busy night anyway. Non stop. God bless him. Wish we could clone him or that local stations with apps would understand we want this bar of coverage. The newscast from 3 hours ago during dangerous weather. doesn't cut it.

I live in Homewood in the south suburbs of Chicago, we did get an EF-1. At 5:37:07 you say "Tornado on the ground in Homewood for sure...oh wait, just kidding." Sure, the reflectivity was out ahead of the TDS, but the velocity and the TDS aligned perfectly. So...I'm not sure why you were so quick to dismiss it.

This stream helped me so much. I was watching it with local radar up in the background. You guys were so much faster at updating, and I was able to be ready to shelter several minutes before the sirens sounded and I lost power. Turns out one of the EF0s was barely a mile and a half north of me in Lockport. That's the one you said you thought might be just west of the radar site at about 05:13:20. Thankfully my power came back on within a few minutes, but the other side of the street is still out today.

It was nuts in Rockford tonight. At one time, there were 7 tornado warnings at one time in just our area and surrounding small towns. Great lightning.

So the Etna Greene/ Tippecanoe (Tippy was actually way closer just a weird postal zip area) Tornado ended up being a EF-0 and the one up at Ellhart was a EF-1. At one point that couplet was directly over my Home! Dropped just east of us. Thankfully that just tore some trees up and damaged crops.
BTW Your not saying the names right, actually help lighten the mood! We were pretty stressed, and you made us laugh! Thank you!

I live in Uptown, Chicago. It's always interesting to try to guage what to actually do during a warning, when no one on the news is confirming a visual. There's no way to know.
But also, generally, it seems like these storms move very quickly east, so it's only short term danger.

I am in Davenport at 7:11 pm my phone went off I got scared about 2 or 1 minute we got high winds I went to my basement my power flicker a little bitvim safe

This is why I'm more afraid of derechos vs. tornadoes. A tornado passed 2 blocks from me that night.

New-age weathermen. Many years ago I would have turned on the weather channel or local news station to find ads, general info, or irrelevant content, sometimes being forced to a slowly updating webpage. Here I see someone focusing on the prevalent issue and translating raw data real-time. I suppose the future has it's good sides.
By the way, Hammond Indiana is pronounced like Richard Hammond, from Top Gear / Grand Tour. Same pronunciation
NWS did confirm an EF1 tornado in central Illinois that tracked 12 miles from East Peoria through Morton. Better rotation was below the radar scan, so it wasn’t evident on radar until it got to Morton, and even then, no definitive CC drop

Thanks Max for the coverage I was in Crestwood and power went out just before you had a TDR signature on it but seen there was 4 couplets moving our direction just before power did go out. Had some high micro burst winds branches and trees went down we got side swiped by it

5:26:04 at this moment I was panicking. I live in Burbank and for the first time ever I received the Federal Emergency Alert on my iPhone for a Tornado Warning and imminent danger with life threatening conditions. I live with elderly parents and thought we’d lose everything with our lives that night. Instead though, I got on my knees and prayed to Lord Jesus to take away the storm. And thank God the tornado didn’t drop. Not even the winds were damaging at all. It was a miracle

We did have a few small confirmed tornados and im really wondering if it was a f0-f1 or straight wind lines that hit us.

Hi I was in your live stream and I asked what’s a supercell 20 mins later I asked again and you didn’t answer so I kept on asking and you didn’t answer I’m kind of sad but it’s ok can you answer my question you don’t have to what’s a supercell. I went through this stom its was only a tornado watch and warning everyone was fine my dog loves to wait until it’s stops raining to go smell my cat was by me sleeping my dog needed to go to the bathroom but refused cuz she hates water unless she’s need to drink water lol

At least Max goes live for the majority of severe weather. Unlike Ryan who has gotten so big and rich, with his huge production crew, that he only goes live 5 times a year for EF5s and hurricanes.
This comment was completely unnecessary. You’ve clearly not watched Max for very long. He has been spot on with all of his forecasts because he is in school for meteorology and is significantly better at what he does than RH. He is not a copy
