    Doublelift's question about free throws in basketball is interesting. In psychology there is a principle that when you are practicing something you want to have the practice conditions to be as similar as possible to game conditions. In practice venues the players practicing free throws may have less distractions, certainly have less spectators watching them, and are probably not pressured to the extent which they are in game time. If they are at home their fans are probably not distracting them like how away fans would be. This is a similar concept as League of Legends "stage" games versus "scrims" the practice conditions may be more comfortable and can help success whereas practical game time settings have multiple variables that can impact performance. A player can certainly develop good muscle memory to set themselves up for success but can ultimately be adversely impacted by multiple variables that they cannot have accounted for come game time.

      The way you get good enough at free throws to hit them at clutch moments is the same way you might develop muscle memory in league, you practise them so insanely much that its automatic, you don’t get in your own head about the pressure, because you’re not thinking about the actions you’re doing, its just autonomous. Apply that to league what are some of the most common moments people fuck up, fail flashing or messing up combos, if people spent enough time mastering combos, and specifically practising flashing common walls (or a mixture of both for flash q combos on thresh or something, people would fuck up less on stage. Arguably it’d be suboptimal because having better macro but fail flashing once in a while is probably a good tradeoff, but we understand how to essentially “remove” pressure from an athletes mind.

      @@CC-INV At lot of the times players with low free throws percentages are players who get way too much on their own head and start over thinking about the position of their hands, their fingers, remembering the mechanics that were being told by the coaches, the power regulation to throw it.
      They are so many factors that are included on the whole equation. Audiences distracting you, noises distracting you, the state of the game at the moment you taking those shots, your mental state during the game. Are you missing at lot the shots during the game?. are you in your zone?. The size of the hands of the player taking them, fatigue, the natural strength of the player, the composure of the player, Are you a more power oriented player? are you a finessed oriented player?. How were you coached during your developing state?. American coaches don't care about FT's and don't really teach Fowards and Big men's to take free throws so they never work on their mechanics and then end up growing up getting into the league and at point is so late in your career that trying to change the mechanics don't really work as often.

    • @CC-INV
      @CC-INV 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RomnysGonzalez you just described exactly what I’m saying, when you don’t practise FTs enough, you get in your own head, have to remember mechanics, finger placement, timing, even your own routine. Common theme of some of the best shooters ever? They shot so many times theres nothing to remember, its as natural as breathing. Same goes for any skill, if you practise it enough, pressure becomes irrelevant. Completely different question is whether practising a skill so much its basically perfect is a worthy time investment.

    • @CC-INV
      @CC-INV 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RomnysGonzalez think of it like driving, most people when they start are nervous, scared etc because they are not experienced (in other words well practised). You have to think about changing gears, checking mirrors, stopping distances, pedestrians on the street, so many things to consider. The more you drive, the more comfortable it becomes to the point the majority of people no longer feel the pressure of driving, you can almost put yourself on autopilot and muscle memory will complete the actions you need to do.

    At 10 minutes ish meteos asks can't you just bowl properly every time. Which is funny enough the only one I know that actually is different. Different venues will oil or wax their boards differently and sometimes have different ones at different distances down the line which causes differences in friction and have your ball turn in ways you didn't intend. Its an interesting thing to look up.

    Bowling is not the same. There are different oil patterns out on the lane that make it very difficult at the higher levels of bowling. This is part of the reason why bowling is not taken seriously as a sport. it's because people don't understand that while the professionals make it look easy, the average person would struggle.
