This is like an arrow to the heart to our Jon. I remember when this first came out in 1989. It was like a meteorite had struck the men's fragrance counter...it was like NOTHING else out there. I wore it to death until Le Male came out, then I'd switch it up a bit. It will always hold a place in my heart, but I don't think I'd wear it these days. Loved the honest review!
Jon has definitely been a good sport about it lol. Though I never had it back in the day I certainly get the sense that it was a game changer.
I still wear it along with kouros, I have the fuck em attitude. I get alot of compliments
You made the mistake everyone makes. You sprayed more than twice and you got the new version that is much sweeter and more synthetic. 2 SPRAYS ONLY.

I did love your take and honest opinion on this fragrance. It’s insane some of the negative comments that you hear about it. Lol.. If your a very sensitive person who cares about what people say or think about something then it will break you. I just read a comment about someone saying it smells like toilet bowl cleaner and mothballs... lmao! I mean that would make me want to stop wearing it ASAP. But i am not going to let that bother me. To me it smells clean and fresh. I don’t wear much of it anyway. I do enjoy it though and it brings back great memories. At least i do get positive feedback from people. Even younger crowds! My niece loves it as well and i always love to get her opinions on my colognes. Because she’ll tell me the truth straight up!😂
Joshua McCall it’s very interesting how different people’s experience with aromas can be. Then on top of how they interpret those smells there is each person’s individual memories tied to scent. That’s why I try to encourage people to check them out for themselves. I’m really looking forward to the colder months and seeing how I react to Joop in that environment. I would never dare use TWO sprays of Joop, and I could never dare apply it directly. I apply a fraction of a spray to a cotton ball, then rub that ball widely over my skin. Joop doesnt smell right until it' mixed with skin oils and perspiration, so I wouldnt expose other ppl to Joop until a good half hour after application.
For you is not relevant but for me a collector until now i uses joop homme compare to creed aventus and dior sauvage

I dislike it when I first apply it, an hour later its just fine.
One of the strongest scents ever created, at least the original formulation was. When I had it in the 90s it was beyond Nuclear. 5 sprays of Joop and you will destroy everyone around you. No matter what all the other people around are wearing, the smell of Joop will overpower everything and I mean everything anyone else has on.
I’ve been looking for a sample of the original since I made this video. Do you think the original is better, or the newer formula? In terms of scent quality I mean
@@DaVincisAlchemyst Personally I don’t think you would tell much difference. I own both and I do know what a few people are saying when they mention that the new formulation has a slight plasticky smell to it. But to be honest they don’t smell too dissimilar at all. Longevity and projection are a bit better on the old Joop but do you really need the new formulation to last any longer 😂 it’s definitely not worth sourcing an old bottle, the new stuff is 95% the same, at least to my nose.

Edit: I haven’t smelled this in a long time, but my father used to wear this all the time and this, of course, influences the way I feel about it. I remember it being quite unusual for a fragrance marketed towards men. Oh yes, it was sickenly sweet to me. But I heard that current formulations are a shadow of what it used to be, so can you imagine it even be more powerful? 😂 By the way, it’s the second pronunciation Iohp (He’s a German designer, so no “j” like in jeans and straightforward ohhh sound like in ... I cannot think of an English word with that sound ☺️ maybe a British “wall” but the o is more closed?).

Servusfragrance there seems to be quite a lot of nostalgia surrounding this fragrance. I never experienced it in my youth though. Crazy to think of it as being stronger! Lol

But I genuinely do like the smell. And this version is very toned down to what it used to be 😜 it's an acquired taste. And just for the record MB and Creed... Well this was around a long time before them so you know 😜 make up your own mind

You only need 1 spray dude! You’re using it wrong. I spray & walk thru it or spray on a hard surface & touch it with 2 fingers & touch it on your neck.

So if I understand you correctly, you over sprayed Joop and then decided you didn't like it? That would happen with anything. One on the chest and one on the wrist and that's it. I wore it all day yesterday and it was beautiful.

I think that if I had been introduced to it then I probably would have liked it as well. My 80’s 90’s frags were Drakkar because my father wore that and Jovan Musk for Men 💪🏽

Loved this video Brandon, telling it how you feel it. This frag sucks ball, 🤣🤣. I like Jon actually like it but it’s more to do with the memory associations I get from it as it was one I rocked back in the day. Great job mate, now go and hide.👍🏻🙏🏻

I like to put one on each side of my neck/collarbone area. One on the back of my neck. One on my chest in the solar plexus area.
That’s for beastly fragrances. I go quite a bit more for lighter stuff. It helps as well if you spray a bit on the back side of your knees. Boosts the cloud 👍🏽

Interesting review. I've never smelled this one but he women's version was the very first perfume to get me interested in "heavy hitters". I remember being so intrigued by it but couldn't wear it when I was 15 years old🤣 Now I want to get a bottle and get old skool😊

Seeing as I love almost every scent in existence I doubted this review until I got my sample today. After all once winter comes all sweet scents are welcome- not this one. Nauseating as hell. The honeysuckle makes it smell like Cotton candy and smelly sweaty armpits. DISGUSTING! It smells RIPE. Almost like the smell of a rotting animal on the railroad tracks but dribbled in sugar. Usually I say run like hell but actually, no order a sample of this- be in shock with me!

It is one of the best fragrances ever, and I'm no amateur.
1) Two sprays is way too much, and I don't recommend direct applic. Grab two cotton balls. Spray one TINY spritz on one ball then rub the two balls together thoroughly. Use the balls to rub widely on the skin. Wait half hour before exposing anyone else (Joop doesnt smell right without some skin oils and perspiration).
2) Do not succumb to the temptation to apply more product, and CERTAINLY don't apply directly from the bottle.

"This lasts until you're dead" 😂 I was fortunate enough to acquire an original sample of this one in my youth and hated it with a passion. In fact my brother and I stowed it away in a drawer (it was a dabber) and sniffed it once in a while just to have a laugh, wondering how anyone could wear such an atrocity. Even joked that it would be a perfect scent for a pedophile. No need to give out candy when you can smell like it all day. I'd probably just gift it to an 8 year old girl though. With a warning of course. ⚠️ Spray with caution.
